One thing I really love about your channel is that my whole life I have chastised myself for not mastering certain looks. I love that your channel points out something I couldn't see before - there are just certain looks that were never meant for me in the first place. It seems so elementary, but when everyone else is wearing a certain style or color, you question yourself as to why you can't make it work. Thank you for telling us why, and for letting us know it's okay to be ourselves. 💕🌹🥰

Right?! After watching Jen's videos and understanding more about colors, body/face shapes and what can suit us better I finally understand that there's nothing wrong with my body, I just wasn't picking the styles that fit ME and look good on ME. Trends are just trends and we don't need to be part of them all if they don't make us feel comfortable.
I’m so glad the message is clear! ❤️ From countless trials and errors myself and finally understanding what works/doesn’t work simply because I am “me” is, like you said, elementary but also eye opening. I’m glad my efforts to share the knowledge is helpful 🥰❤️
I definitely noticed the difference brows make after going to my first microblading apppointment a few years ago. I had blonde, hardly visible brows but got them done in a light brown shade, a bit thicker, and at a smooth angle. They changed my face completely and made me so much more confident. Brows are important!
Yes! My natural eyebrows didn't suit my face at all, the shape was roundish and the tails were sloping downwards. I used to just get rid of the tails so at least the eyebrows were rising upwards, but that made my forehead look too narrow compared to my big cheekbones and wide jaw. I finally had them done into a shape that is perfect (upward tails, longer and a bit straight) and it balanced out my features so well. I get a lot of compliments on them :)
I'll never stop being frustrated for myself for allowing a brow tech to shape my brows to a trend instead of to my face when I was younger. I would have looked so much better without doing anything except minor clean-up. One famous example of the dramatic difference brows can make is Renée Zellweger - there was a big brouhaha a few years ago with a lot of comments on how much her face had changed; when i looked at photos of her before and after, I felt like the main change i saw was her eyebrows, but it really did affect her overall appearance. People were saying she had cosmetic surgery but I don't know if it was as much that as her brows changing a lot!
I changed the angle of my brows after trying a janky Sephora eyebrow explorer app and realizing my downturned eyes looked so much brighter with angular, arched eyebrows, than my natural straight and slightly rounded brows. It all makes sense now!
I'd love a personal consult! Can't wait for your website to open. I've gotten quite a bit better with my makeup skills over time, but sometimes we lose subjectiveness about ourselves and can't see past our own noses. I'd like to see what small changes you might make on my face that might major differences. Thank you for such informative content. New sub here.
I stumbled across your channel this evening, and I am really glad I did. I love informative content like this, concise, educational and well-presented. I am now a new subscriber and looking forward to learning more.
I absolutely love your channel, and every video you put out is absolutely gold! Oftentimes beauty/stylist RUclipsrs have opinions and tips that are very generalized or noninclusive, but I love how you show us a variety of examples to help us understand that you can bring out a unique beauty in anyone. I'm so excited about the consultations! I would love to take your advice sometime! (PS. I think I really need it)
Thank you so much for the comment Layah! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying my content ❤ I also JUST opened up virtual consultations so check out my Community tab for the details + 50% off promo code!
I’m excited for this series. One thing I’ve been curious about your take on if the recommendation to line up the front of the eyebrows with the nose is REALLY universally the best choice like literally everyone says it is. I don’t want to bring that much focus to my nose! Anyways I’m going to save up for a consult for my birthday!
Thanks Maria! I'm actually covering the distance between the brows as one of the topics in my next video so hopefully it will answer your question :) I'm also offering a 50% off discount for all services for the first month of consultations, so take advantage of it if you'd like - check out my Community tab for details + discount code!
Omg. This is life changing!! I have struggled with my makeup look for years because all the time something just didn’t look correct. The colors weren’t right? The glasses? Bright lip? Nude lip? My face was just wrong? I needed eyelid surgery? So darn frustrating!!! And I felt self conscious. But then I saw the part about eye shape (mine are almond) and the space between the brow head and the eye (mine was too great). So I lowered the brow head and all of a sudden everything works. Brow color is fine. Glasses look great. Even bold black frames. Red lip works (thanks for that video too). And now I actually feel young and pretty again. I think I had been going with the more high horizontal look because I have a long face but my eyes were being alienated from my brows and my my mid face was looking long and old. And using contour on my high forehead takes care of the long top third. Now everything is in harmony and flows beautifully. This is going to save me sooooo much time!!! Thank you so much. You are amazing and your channel is going to explode. Then I can say I knew you when!!
*Runs to a mirror to check brows* I never thought of any of this!! I have dark hair and had super thick, unibrows growing up. I was a teen in the 90s, so that was my last brow shaping attempt! 😂 I just followed the curve of my browbone, but now I am wondering if I should tweak it.
Eyebrows can make such a huge difference! Changing the brow shape can drastically change your face :) Try out different styles and see how you like them!!
Thank you Stephanie! Consultations are open as of Sunday so you should check out the website! I'm also offering 50% off all services for the first month so check out my Community tab for details! :)
Im 55 yo and a recent subscriber. I am enjoying the content on your channel! Its so different and helpful compared to all the other beauty YTers. I have a question re: lipstick color and finish. I want to detract from my marionette lines (nasolabial folds) and notice lighter/softer shades with shine are more flattering than deep/bold matte lipsticks on my mature face. Do u find that to be true? Also should I focus on my eye makeup to draw attention away from my mouth/smile lines. I would love a consult !!!
Hi! Thanks so much for the sub ❤ You're bang on - colour wise, a stronger/bolder colour will draw more emphasis to your lip area than a lighter/softer colour, and texture wise matte will highlight your lines more, so you probably notice your marionette lines more when you wear bold & matte lips!
This vid should become a compulsory module for cosmetology schools. My eye-brows have been destroyed by inept estheticians... I'm Italian so I have naturally quite dark thick eye-brows...the only person who was able to maximise my look was my mum's auntie (old school hairdresser), what she did was basically just to clear up the excess of hairs at the tail and create a bit of an angle... after that I just ended up getting disastrous services, atm I keep going with caster oil and I try to reshape my eye-brows with the nyx brow eye liner... thanks for yr vids, loving the scientific approach xo
I really like the slower speaking pace you have in other videos; it's much easier to follow. The trend for RUclips videos seems to be to edit out all the space between sentences , I don't know why 😭
It's mostly to keep people engaged - I once heard someone say "the attention span of the watchers on RUclips are like that of the fetus of a goldfish" lol
I agree! Once you get used to a certain style it's hard to break the habit for sure. I used to wear by brows in a more horizontally straight shape by filling in the top and it definitely took me a bit of time to get out of the habit myself! 😉
I love your videos- super informative and your very entertaining when you give us your wisdom 😊thanks - I’ll be setting a virtual appointment soon ❤Good Friday to you all
Omg, never in a million years would i have thought Ariana and i have anything in common lookswise 😅 but the way you analyzed her eyes - my face looks nothing like hers but my eyes have a lot of similarity to hers! They are somewhat rounded with a slight upward tilt to them, are also slightly close-set. My eye colour is similar to hers too. So my natural brows (which i don't mess much with) are similar to her original brow shape. The inner brow corners are also pretty low. Am wondering if i should shorten the tail which would give my brows a straighter, upward sloped arch...or if that would look weird 😬
It’s dependent on the rest of your face and your features so it’s hard to say! But generally speaking shorter brows tend to bring more attention to the center of the face - I’ll explain more about the length in my next vid! ❤️
@@stylerefinement i am 36, so while i don't look very "old" anything that keeps me looking younger is a bonus lol. My brow tails are not droopy but they add a gentle curvature (similar to the angle of my eyes) and shortening them from the tails could easily give me a more "Korean brow" look. Looking forward to your next segment 😍
@@minervarose7664 I used to wear the "Korean brow" look! Although I found that it did make me look softer / younger I just found that the shape didn't match my features 😅
my brows grow so low and i have more of a prominent low browbone, theres no way i could make them higher without a facelift. the hair actually grows down under the browbone. it makes me feel like a neanderthal when i see how everyone else has so much more room between their eyelid and brow. Even when I was younger, a lot of kids told me I looked mad or mean because of my brows. So I started tweezing them then, except i messed up and took hair from the top to get rid of any arch, I thought it would make me look less angry and also I was really into Japanese beauty trends at the time (i.e. super straight brows) , and definitely damaged those follicles after just doing that in junior high and high school. I have no clue how to ever shape them now because I don't want them to be too thin. I so wish my brows grew much higher on the face like most peoples do. It makes me look old and sad and the opposite of snatched. I've always loved natural super arched eyebrows, like christian slaters.
I feel so lost :( I have upturned and close set eyes with a short forehead and a long mid face / big nose it’s like every type of brow looks bad on me :( Please help
I've watched a couple of your videos and the sound effects you use are so jarring, overused, and quite distracting. (The other videos they were much louder than your voice, so at least the volume is a touch more toned down this time.) I like the information you present, but the obnoxious "teen influencer" vibe from the editing effects make me stop watching and prevent me from ever wanting to subscribe.
Aw I’m sorry to hear that. Working on toning things down after feedback about sound effects but I guess old habits die hard! Continuing to improve the quality of my videos ❤️
Would you consider making a dedicated video about long and/or prominent chins? You’ve touched on them in a few videos and those tips were so insightful! ❤ There really is no other useful info on this online. My lower third of my face is the most disproportionate part of my face and I feel I always have to consider this feature when styling my hair and makeup. Your videos are so in depth and go beyond the basic advice for face shapes! It reminds me of the super in depth Korean style consulting videos, but the fact that you use multiple races and understand their features more really makes your channel stand out!
Thanks for the suggestion Jessie! A really good one and I like it a lot - let me add it to my list and see what I can come up with. I'm glad you're noticing the parallels with the Korean consulting videos because that's where I got my inspo to start my channel actually (I'm Korean and I watch a lot of those channels)!
