man this is an awesome video! thanks so much my fuel pump juat went out on me yesterday and the shop said it was going to be about 500 to fix it and i thought that was way to high thanks again!

worked great awesome video changed mine today cause your video bad thing is it was the fuel filter was clogged but at least now I have a new pump in to

But sometimes with the older cars its good to remove the tank replace the hoses ect but you don't have to remove the tank to change the pump. Make sure you disconnect the battery everyone

Good job. I prolly woulda gone ahead and said out loud what bolt sizes are as I go along also shoulda just jacked that side of the car extra high maybe put a catch can/bucket underneath coulda been a bit quicker but no joke good job those are just some thoughts I did mine in about 7 minutes if that tank left on

Do I need to drop the tank with a 96 stratus?
with the 95, you dont have to remove the tank, just remove retainer ring, pull pump body, rotate till it clears body, good to go
+evilnygneon Yep, done it 3 times just to fix the float...lol always something to fix.
its nothing compaired to what im doing now lol, i already replaced my rear floor, today im welding in a new rear crossmember. engine bay is getting shaved, engine bay harness/body harness will be tucked. and adding a sprintex s5-210 supercharger to the 2.4 swap.

Great video thanks! Will be doing this pump replacement on my '96 neon this weekend. Just curious though, I noticed a black rubber cap on the end of the fuel pump housing, can that be used to drain the fuel tank while it's still in the car?
I don't think so. You can try it. Would take forever to drain it with that little tap.

Yes...only if its almost empty I mean...gas gauge shows 'E' good luck man be careful...un -hook the battery to make it safe.

+Petie Wheatstraw I flush it out a week earlier when I changed the fuel pump the 1st time. It was pretty clean.
might want to put some thick boards under those ramps. ..They can sink especially with a bigger car

Do you know if this is the same process but with a 2000 Dodge stratus?
Yea and no. After 1995 the went to plastic tanks....Lighter...That
stratus has a plastic tank you have to drop. It has a big plastic ring
that holds down the sending/pump unit. The ring turns and releases the
fuel pump unit...It can be dropped and changed.
I did my fuel pump same car you don't need to remove the fuel tank just a little FYI

will the fuel pressure regulator keep it from starting?
Yes. Make sure the pump is actually pumping not just running.
how do i do that when i turn the key i hear the hum but no fuel in the line at first it was a little now there is none i used the starting spray it starts then dies really want to make sure its my fuel pump before i drop the tank
i have 2 1/2 gallons in the tank should i empty the tank?
That would be 1/4 of a tank. They only hold 10 gallons

At any auto parts store or harbor freight.
i got 2 two ton jack stands and i have two regular car jacks to lift it to drop the tank just need to make sure thats the problem

99 neon runs out of gas at 3/4 tank.
