Scotty how can you say that. You seemed to be older than me and I remember AMC. That was a car manufacturer that went out of business.
Jeep for one is known for having no spare parts available for repairs while they continue to build new vehicles containing that part.
VinFast, a Vietnamese EV company, announced in 2022 that they would be building a huge car and battery manufacturing plant in NC that would employ 7,500 people. They just announced there will be a delay and nothing will be starting until 2028. I'm expecting delay will turn into cancellation either this year or next.
I literally hate EVs because they represent a mass formation psychosis in which people have been duped into believing that the end of the world is imminent because of "climate change" and meanwhile there are wars everywhere that are killing people and causing mass migrations. The largest carbon emitter is the military. Some of the same people driving EVs are cheering wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

The US market is going down the drain, China is now the king of consumerism. I see more and more evidence of that all the time. There are tons of brands that models that are simply not available here. This is a pickup truck and SUV market.
So many Nam Vets are holding out for a VC car company here. I have a shirt and shoes made in southeast asia. A Car? No.
There are lots of VinFast (rolling pile of junk ) on the road in Canada. They look like a Kia Sportage from 10 year's ago
One of the advantages of being poor is you look for a good used car that your garage mechanic can fix.

I'm curious if bailouts were worth it, mathematically. Other that making sure some folks had jobs.
So far in 3 yrs since the Infrastructure Bill passed, $7B for charging stations only 7 built so far. Elon built 2k in 6 months.
There’s 8 where I live and they’re full all the time since it’s by an expressway.
Plus people waiting are 2-3 cars deep!

My dad had one that came with the house they bought. He immediately dumped it and bought a gas one.

Here's the kicker -- there are things, like the sunroof, for example, that you have to *subscribe* to in order to keep them functioning. Like what BMW tried to do with their heated seats. And now the folks who own Fiskar cars are just SOL when it comes to those devices on their vehicles. What fun!!

Tesla lost money on EVs until the 3rd quarter of 2016. They squeaked by in selling carbon credits - which is a scam, but it's a legal scam

Back in 1988, about a month after I took a delivery of my 1st brand new one 4-wheel drive , Isuzu Trooper-II, during my trip home from work in Waltham, MA it was heavy ice storm, when I turn on my windshield wiper, it stopped working, I pulled over to my Isuzu dealer near my office in Waltham, MA and asked for help to fixed motor of wiper. They told me that my warranty does not covered the wiper during the storm since it was considering "act of God" and I ended up paying for this service. This was my 1st warrenty claims and it was denial and I have to pay up front fee at the dealer.
Dude SERIOUSLY?!? They couldn't fix it just out of common courtesy?!? A One Month Old Truck?!? An "act of GOD"?!?SERIOUSLY?!?!?😮😮😮

@@johnsmith1953xI've heard similar stories about Fords, Chevy's, Toyotas, Hondas, lots of things. My step dad is a mechanic. I've heard all kinds of horror stories him and his customers have told me about companies that most deem of decent quality and reputation, refusing to honor warranty claims that should have absolutely been honored.
EV's are going to be throw away cars.
Saw a poor guy driving a Fisker SUV, looks real nice. But feel for the guy when he chose to get it repaired.
Just got a new vehicle but opted for a conventional ICE powered one over EV. The lack of charging stations and time it takes to charge, dangers of spontaneous combustion and EV fires being difficult to put out, range anxiety and the enormous cost of doing repairs among other things fueled my decision (no pun intended). I'll probably be open to considering an EV when manufacturers come up with acceptable solutions to those issues.
I'm really not sure, as I've been wrong before, but I kinda get the feeling that Scotty isn't much of a fan of electric vehicles.
I think he's wrong about artificial intelligence, tho, the computing power of AI is huge.

@@timothydraper3687 It’s a faster search engine. Nothing original comes from AI. Just permutations of information. Humans do the same thing but….humans can ALSO think out side the box. That box is the fixed database that AI is encapsulated in.

I inquired online about buying a new gasoline car this week and the replies were so stupid and greedy I just had my old car repaired amd told them to stuff it. I said up front I didn't want any dealer added options and every proposal had clear coat, theft devices and other junk. The general public must be stupid if they go along with this.

Toyota just had a problem with iits v6 Turbo engines. The are replacing every one of those engines for replace!

Fisker was better built than teslas! Only issue (major issue) was that it had to be connected to fiskers WI-FI connect to run! And if it went off line the car would shut down! And they would just stop in middle of road! Possible accident issues! That’s as far as the safety went. They’re stable and sterdy cars.
Even tho they’re GM-ford scrambled parts thrown together 😂
Only the carriages WITHOUT horses need wifi to run. At this rate the year 1900 will look like the future.
So it means it cannot run without internet. All my cars do not have internet connected and I don't need it.

Naturally smart man with a big experience. Very strong.
There should be an investigation into this company. Someone once gave the a valuation of 2.9 billion dollars. Turned out to be a poorly run hollowed shell of a company that was never going to be profitable and didn't even have their own factory. Now thousands of people are driving $50k-$60k+ vehicles that are not even a year old and only worth $5k at best.

That's messed up. I'd be so pissed spending that type of money for a new vehicle that has no support and that I can't even find parts for for maintenance. Is there some sort of law that protects consumers from things like this?

@@deusvult6632 what they call climate change is just changes in weather that is typical. I looked into weather stats on my area and we had hotter weather in the 1920's to 1940's than today. Not even close to as bad back then. In the mid to late 1990's I couldn't ski because there was no snow and was too warm even in January and February. We've been having average snow and temperature winters for the past 10-15 years and skiing into March.

Scotty is right.We are far from the time to drive EVs, as a daily drive. So, try to maintain your car specially if you have manual transmission to drive it forever.
Fiskar has now gone bust twice. They failed the first time, what made them think it would work? Will they be dumb enough to try again thinking the old adage third time is a clarm?
As a satisfied Ford owner for 15 years, I'll never buy another Ford due to them wasting billions of dollars on this EV fiasco. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for my next (and probably last) vehicle.

Wife’s family had Fords since 1949, and she and I mostly Ford’s since 1971. Maybe no more. Don’t want bad engines and transmissions and superfluous electronics and high price.

they've installed computer system back in 2015 which control the emission system but it gave American Government problem with the emission scams so VW had to stop selling diesel cars immediately. some of the unsold diesel cars either been destroyed or sent to Europe.
Fixed software and resold to new owners with secret warranty of emissions control equipment. Get one without the DEF fluid tank. Audi A3 or VW Jetta TDI.
My 2015 VW DIESEL Sport wagon gets 60 mpg & runs maintenance free! ( if driven 5 mph slower than speed limit of 65 & 55 zones. )
From WC, You know it is strange, if I understand correctly my 2005 Honda CR-V and my 2003 Ford Ranger puts out more pollution than a 2015 VW Diesel but my vehicles are legal and the VW Diesel was subject to heavy fines in the millions or billions, I guess it just doesn’t make sense to me?!
I live in LA, and I've seen a bunch of the Karma Fiskers. They are really beautiful cars. Maybe if they kept their production to a couple thousand a year, they might be a profitable company.
I saw one of those Fisker 'Ocean' SUVs about a week before they filed for Bankruptcy. It reminded me of a Land Rover Discovery, only more overpriced than the Land Rover and probably less reliable (if that's possible). That's probably the first and last time I will see one on the road.

My Kia Forte is 10 years old, with a GDI engine and has gotten me from point A to point B with zero problems. Would I buy another Kia? Heck yeah. Well, assuming this one dies before I do!

You forget FIELD TESTING is probably the number one problem regarding these failed vehicles and parts that don't hold up or don't work at all?

a gas car produces in 1000kmas much co2 as to produce on ev battery so the payoff if after the battery is made no more co2.

Hey, and don’t forget the people that own them already are going to have fun because in order to use their sunroof they have to have an app and they have to pay monthly to use that app but Fisker isn’t going to support the app anymore. Now these people won’t even be able to use the sunroof in the cars they already own, or should I say they won’t be able to operate the sunroof that they bought and paid for

A friend of mine bought two of those Fords and Ford bought them back at market value but he received an insider tip on how to proceed.
The approach to building the EV market was not well thought out, they should have concentrated on local commuter vehicles (less than 100 miles a day) the vast majority of pollution from vehicles comes from local commuting and wouldn't require any change in infrastructure to support it and the vehicles could be sold much cheaper!

And they are crap today! Bought one for the kids last year, broke down after 3 hours, sent it back, got it back repaired, and 2 hours later...it's now collecting dust. Can't be bothered with that chinese crap.
