    Yeah Scotty is a Toyota fan (most are great cars) but he also likes Honda (especially if they are built in Japan) and he will tell you Mazda and other brands are good vehicles if he tests them and thinks it is a good vehicle. Hell he says there are some good Hyundai vehicles (I’m a Hyundai lover with previous great cars) but he tells the truth from his experience with many cars. To me his experience (55+ years) is what I want to hear. Buy what you want but, Scotty will provide you his experience. Buy what you want and live with what you purchase, good, bad or ugly. Scotty only tells you what he thinks.

    I'm really happy with my 2016 CX-5. 2.5L conventionally aspirated engine, Mazda's 6-speed automatic. 2WD is all I need in Texas.
    107K on the clock, no oil burning yet, religious about oil changes with 0W20 synthetic every 5K miles, transmission fluid drain and refill every 50K.
    So far 25 mpg in town and 29 on trips. For that roomy a car, pretty good I figure.
    Not a hint of trouble so far. What's not to like about that?

    I rented a 2023 Honda Aacord for about 3 days. I was disappointed with the ride and noise from road and engine, for a car with only 6,000 miles. This was surprising from Honda's Top Line car. On the other hand, it had plenty of power, handling was great and controls where good. I would perfer a Toyota Camary ( with 6 cyl. ) better. Only problem is hard to enter and exit rear seat.

      Which one would YOU get?
      He has a Hyundai with 200,000 miles on it that his friend gave him. If I get a Honda, I have to find someone who can put a shield around the catalytic converter.

My Lexus is350 requires a certain procedure to change trans fluid (car needs to be completely level and trans fluid trickled out at the right trans temperature- monitored with an OBD2 reader). I've seen plenty of RUclips videos of people half azzing the process...same might have happened to yours.

    3 years ago I bought a 2011 Honda Accord. I'm in about $15k on this car because the dealer I bought it from are scumbags that sold it to me without even inspecting it and I had to spend almost $2k to get it driving right. Last week some old lady totally sideswiped the car. $4200 in damages. I just can't win in life. Now I'm driving an ugly car. But hey, at least it's a Honda. Might not look good, but it will get me where I need to go for years to come.

    • @edb484
      @edb484 Месяц назад +2

      Did you have full coverage? Insurance will cover the damages. I don’t care what anyone says, I would have only liability no matter how old the car is. I even kept full coverage on my old 02 Civic.
      Made some good money on it when it hailed and did a claim and kept the money

    • @LUk3.M.
      @LUk3.M. 28 дней назад +1

      @@edb484 Depends how much damage there is. If the entire side of the car needs to be repaired or replaced (doors, fenders, quarter panel).. then insurance would total the vehicle. If the costs of repairs exceeds 65% of the fair market value, insurance totals the car. Quick search of an EX 2011 Accord sedan shows a fair market value of just under $5,000. So $3,250 would be 65% and the level which insurance would deem it totaled. And then insurance will give you a check for what your car is worth (5k) and then take your car to sell it for scrap value.
      Body work is NOT cheap these days. Paint and body repair for a bad sideswipe, is definitely more than $3,200.
      Thats why its not always smart to carry full coverage if you drive an older car.
      We all WISH insurance would spend $10 grand to fix our 1996 Honda Civic when we got into a wreck, but thats not how it works. They deem the car totaled. Then you decide, do I want to keep my Honda that runs great? And spend my own money fixing it? Or do I want insurance to take my car and write me a check that isnt enough to get a good car.
      Unless you have a special policy for a classic car or a policy adjusted to the value you prove its worth (which means an expensive monthly payment).

    • @LUk3.M.
      @LUk3.M. 28 дней назад +2

      All told... I've spent WELL OVER $50,000 on my Accord (including the 14 grand I spent buying it used). But, thats only cause of major accidents and me replacing every possible part I can to get it looking like showroom condition (almost 5 grand for leather seat replacements alone). (2 grand for all new OEM chrome trim around the windows.). $675 for new OEM leather steering wheel, even though my original still looks great, I want it perfect.
      Spending two grand is nothing, marvin.
      These cars are worth it.

I find that there are enough Hyundai's out there that are 130k + and you still probably are going to say there bad cars. I think that the Korean manufacture has come a long way with their engines and they surprisingly get more horsepower bigger car and same fuel economy. 35+ for a sedan.

    Mazdas from early 2000s use a lot of ford parts. I’m not sure about now. I would always have a cylinder misfire every 6months. After a while I just gave up and drove it like that. It worked fine enough just a lot louder

      Alot has changed. Mazda is doing its own thing (for a while but they've especially stepped up their game post 2017 when they released the new generation of the cx5). Now it regularly lists as top 5 (for two years it was top 3) most reliable in consumer reports and car and driver year after year.

    My Honda Accord three transmissions later and link kit or sway bar every month until the wheel fell off taken my kid to school don’t think so. I’ll ever buy a Honda again.

      When I test drive a car, how can I tell if the transmission is going out?
      Are you allowed to take those little chip things that tell you if something is wrong?
      Also, if you will never buy another Honda, what kind WILL you buy?
      My son has a 2009 Hyundai Elantra that has 200,000 miles on it. His friend gave it to him.
      If you were me, would you be looking at Hyundai's or what kind? Scotty is confusing. Lol

    The Honda Fit backseats are also commonly called MAGIC seats, because the seat part of the seat flips UP, so you can stand a plant up in the back seat or heavy suitcases and the like. They are pretty cool.

    Oh yeah that Mazda made in Japan is really a topnotch car 25000 miles and 7 codes. Just carry a computer around with you and drive like hell with 20mpg and don't worry about it. Sometimes I guess it's just a matter of opinion.
