    First married first car was a Plymouth Champ. It out lived the 6 yr marriage, and 10 yrs of divorce, put over 500k miles on it, did the necessary maintenance, best car I ever owned, ran like a top, started on the coldest nite in Chicago history. Absolutely no complaints about the car. Sold it to a distant relative of the family, they wrecked it and got enough out of it to buy a new car. It held its value. I wish I could get another car like that today for what I bought that one for back in the day…it was a 1979 Champ, and a Champ it was! Great car, and yes it had a 4 cyl Mitsubishi engine. Take good care of them and they will take good care of you. I miss that car, and oh, it had the twin sticks manual transmission with absolutely no issues at all.

    I used to own a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant with a small 4 cylinder engine and it ran like a dream. The only time I ever brought it to a mechanic was to get new tires and new CV axles while doing all the other maintenance on my own. Got it when it had 182K miles and drove it pass 300K miles but loss it in a bad car accident. Check engine light did came on once for gas cap but got it taken care of easily. The problem is NOT the Mitsubishi, its the owners who modify the car.

    Bought the green 2014 v6 mustang in my profile picture for $14k, 76k miles the one issue it has is a rear main seal leak it’s a small one even 6 months after buying you can only smell something when you get on the throttle and I haven’t seen any oil spots on the ground . Yes it’s a $1000 fix, expensive but it’s a fairly common issue that arises on vehicles approaching higher mileage everything else in the drivetrain is healthy based on what a mechanic told me so the fix in my opinion is worth it.

    My Vue was a grandparent car, that had 222K when I got it. Only had that many miles from being towed behind a motor home most of its life.
    Down the road , the Vue had developed an unpleasant roar from the front end, at 281,000, installing new front wheel hub assemblies made it nice and quiet once more. The left side wheel hub still seemed ok, the right one, on the other hand , was terrible. $120 in parts to put it right.

    That has to be one of the worst-looking aftermarket "cold-air" intake systems I've ever seen. They kept the factory intake funnel but removed the next part of it, so it basically steers the air into the side of the hood. The actual filter and intake pipe into the engine is facing the opposite direction. I guess they're thinking the air is somehow going to take a U-turn inside the engine bay? 🤣

      @MishtahPoog 7 месяцев назад

      There are ones that actually do that, but they're much less common than these messy ones that don't really work. Without the ducting (and potential heat shielding of a good system), the open ones like in this car are basically "warm-air" or "hot-air" intakes. It's the tunes and the larger intake piping that do all the work here.

    I don't know if it's the same in America, but I assume it probably is, that to do an OBD check on a Mitsubishi with a scanner you have to have Mitubishi's own MUT scanner... and you can't buy them because they're only for the official Mitsubishi dealerships and no one else can (offficially) get one because they won't sell you one. They still use the same OBD socket as all the other makes but the software system is Mitubishi's own and they;re not compatible, even with expensive scan tools.

Reliable A to B vehicle. Id say majority of performance car owners will drive them/modify them to hell. I dont think Mitsubishis are as bad as he's stating, lol.

    I need to find one of these types of cars. All the 2007-2008 Corollas I’m finding online have 175,000 to 225,000 miles on them (or more), and they want $7,000 to $9,000 for them, with questionable body integrity (I live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area where they heavily salt the roads in the Winter, and rust is a problem). My wife (disabled) and I live on Social Security, and $7000 is about the limit of what I can scrape together, so if I buy a car, I need it to hold up for awhile before it needs any repairs so I can save up for them.

    I'm like 8 months too late... currently hating my car. It has a leak at the differential end of the cv shaft so I got under there and realized that I can slide it in and out, so I take everything off, and now the cv shaft won't come out no matte what I do. I've spent two afternoons on this and now I need to borrow a ride to work tomorrow

    • @gregorymalchuk272
      @gregorymalchuk272 7 месяцев назад

      What year and model is it? Did you look into how to remove CV shafts on it? A lot of them have nothing or a weak spring clip that holds it in the transmission. The front suspension is what mostly keeps the axle shafts from ripping out.

      Possible that you need to rotate the axle and then try pulling it off. They typically have a 3mm cold rolled C-Clip which locks the axle in the diff/trans.

I've put so much effort into prying that I can confidently say that it's not coming out. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude but I'm just very frustrated with the situation I've gotten myself into.
