Thank you for making this video. I just replaced the fuel pump in my 2000 Marquis and everything is just like you showed. I used the car ramps for the back wheels, and then jacked up the rear frame slightly to reach that connector in the wheel well. A few things I will mention. First, make sure you take the old rubber gasket off the tank before putting the new fuel pump in which has a new rubber gasket with it. I didn't even notice the old gasket was still stuck to the tank because it was so sandwiched in but these alignment tits sticking up tipped me off after I had the new pump already pushed into the tank. Secondly, if you have braided fuel lines you need a special tool to release them from the pump. I didn't know this until I was under the car, so then I had to go to the parts store. Advance auto doesn't have them as loaners, you have to buy a set for about 15-20 bucks and then try a few to see which fits. Once I had the new pump in, it took a couple days for the fuel gauge to register in my dash. It registered half way even after I filled the tank and I don't know why but suddenly it started working and now its fine. Thank again for sharing this information, you saved me a lot of money by doing it myself.

That other video I saw. I'd rather take the tank out then cut a wire and have to re crimp it. Awesome !!! Mind you, if I've worked on a particular car before, it takes me about as long to take the tank out as it does to take a tire off. Siphon the gas over to another container. Fix the problem. Eat lunch. Replace the tank. And siphon the gas back into the tank, while finishing lunch. But if I have to cut and re-crimp, I'd rather unclip & re-clip. Your, reverse engineering video. Well done. Done better.

2 issues - When I went to unclip at the wheel sensor broke. Got everything else ready to go. Am I going to have to go ahead and drop the tank to replace the sensor? Other issues is tanks full of gas, I looked into siphoning but have seen a couple forums saying these cars won’t allow it? Any advice? Do I need to drop tank to replace sensor and how can I drain 16gallons of gas out of this car?

    • @BrianMitchell321

Well I'm not sure on the sensor it's been a long time since I worked on that car but the only way to get the gas out of it is put a pan underneath the tank and when you take loose the fuel sending unit which is on the side of the tank halfway down the gas will come out and go in the pan
