Literally improve my irons ten fold, now going much straighter instead of right and getting my low irons driver distances, which is cool. Just working on consistency now.

Until I came across your video and realized I started rolling my hands and pointing the toe up! Such a simple fix and easy technique to learn and practice. Wow! I am amazed how I am now compressing the golf ball and hitting greens in regulation! And I now hit my irons 10yds further per club. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Today, progress was more hit club face vs tops, etc. Unfortunately I was showing him my toe up thigh height because my right-handed miss was left for a while. Ugh! He needs the club pointed down! I love the opposite and exaggerate. Thanks much... excited to get him out there again. Subscribing now. Great work!

Great lesson Eric. I would say all amateurs would benefit from this. I've been single figure HC for a while but was shocked when a friend filmed me down the line a little while ago. I was doing exactly what you say and was losing quite a bit of distance. Now hitting the ball again with a different feel, sound and flight. Big thumbs up. 👍

Went right outside to apply these tips.
Concentrated on stronger grip with shaft lean to inside of left thigh.
Then turned club face towards ball, ground, camera during backswing… tried to relax and not be mechanical.
DANG hit 10 in a row straight or slightly curving left. About half of those jumped off the club with energy. Thanks Eric…

I've said this many times, but if this instruction knowledge was available 25 years ago, I would have been a scratch player a long time ago. I live by this delivery now - it is just so easy to square the club early and then enjoy the benefits of being able to be ultra-aggressive at impact for more distance - and then you get to do this with a driver and play a power hold off fade like DJ (minus 40 yards).

Thanks for the VDO. I am a single handicapper. I used to also roll my hands too much open in the backswing. I changed my backswing exactly as you mentioned and on video my swing looks pretty good and well on plane (it took me about half a year (a lot of practice on the driving range) to have this changed settled in, however I am now overdrawing the ball with all my shots. I am able to compensate somewhat by aiming more to the right, but it doesn't fully correct. Any idea how to fix this overdrawing? Thanks!

    • @CogornoGolf

      Hey Erik!
      Yes.
The solution lies in the part of the video where I did the opening vs closing math example.
You need to learn to close the clubface less during the downswing.
      More passive.
More shaft lean, less, roll, etc...
      Also can improve pivot likely.
Would need to see to say for sure...join www.cogornogolf.com if you dont get it sorted so we can work together!

The aim is to deloft the club to get max compression. I get that. But it makes me think--why not manufacture each iron with 2 or 3 degrees less loft in the first place?

    • @CogornoGolf

Well you can.....but even if its 2-3 less to start and you open it too much you still have the same problem.

After the last "Rapid Fire" episode and your explanation on chipping and just flaring the foot as opposed to opening your stance, I have been a lot better at actually getting the ball flighted and onto the green, as opposed to duffed 3 feet ahead of myself, or somewhere off to the right.

Do you grip first and then set up with the shaft leaning forward? Or lean the shaft forward first AND THEN grip the club with the V pointing at trailing collar bone?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 года назад

      Great question.
      They happen SIMULTANEOUSLY.
      Not one before the other.
Just like you are settling your grip as you shuffle your feel into place.

Check out this video-should help with those answers and visuals: ruclips.net/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/видео.html
      The answer is no.
Hands stay pretty much inside left thigh with all clubs.
As ball moves forward and feet get wider with longer clubs.....even though the hands will be in the same place....there will be less lean....bc the ball is more forward and feet are wider/more tilt of body.
