I'm just amazed at the speed with which you make pruning decisions. It shows your experience and knowledge. That would take me at least half a day.. 😁 I'm curious about how the tree will look in a year or two. Please keep us posted. Thanks for making this video!!
Grt idea to follow up on plants like this! I must say, I thought u had gone a bit going far in the first video; So follow up was a real good lesson for me! 👏V much! 👍🙏
Lovely job, mate. It's like you could hear me wanting this branch off, that one cut back- and as always with you, in one confident snip. And now the tree is so handsome and full of drama. Brilliant channel- best bonsai online, no kidding. You're a STAR, simple as that.
WOW I love it when you get your teeth into something new, it’s amazing how much you take off as an experienced bonsai expert where we as enthusiastic bonsai growers just take so much less, oh to have your knowledge and in-site. Lovin the tan btw 😜
So amazing to see the speed you work at, and how quickly you make decisions. Im very new to bonsai but have taken a lot from your channel and videos. Very grateful
Nice looking bonsai. I think the apex branch looks to straight for the tree and would look better cut off. Looking from the front, the branch tilting off to the right of the apex branch would give more movement to the trunk over all. Would of liked to see you wire it. Great vlog as always.👍
Found your channel two weeks ago just after our car was out of service for two weeks! I'm in Notts so came over for my very first visit, yesterday 13.08 . Got two saplings and two little pots. Very good prices for newbies. However one gap in the I have noticed....square pots, very rare. Love your great content, and talent. Could you go over the seasons you, a. Prune b. Re-pot c. Both. And any trees that have difficulties with either. Thank you.
Fantastic job. and so efficient! I just told my husband that a bonsai should look as pleaseing without foliage as it does when leafed out. You have proven that. How long has the privet been in training? Greetings from Boston, MA, USA
Privet!!!! 😵 My childhood is scarred by memories of having to follow my dad round as he trimmed those common privet hedges, having to collect up the clippings. I still have nightmares…
I have a privet from a garden center. I want to do the first hard pruning. When is the best time to do this. The leaves have just hardened off I believe. Thanks I’m advance.
I never thought I would see privet used as bonsai as a kid I was brought up on a council estate and it was my job to clip them I got quite good but there must have been 135 feet around the garden of privet and I had to do both sides 😆 lol.... I will have to keep my eyes open for people throwing them away ...
I need to get more secondary and tertiary branches on a couple of my privets. Here in NZ it's the end of Winter about to begin Spring. Is now a good time to prune back hard? Obviously I'll miss out on the flowers but that doesnt really bother me. Cheers!
If you prune a tree before it has put out it's first flush of growth in spring it will push all the energy it had stored through the winter into the remaining smaller number of buds, giving you very vigorous, long shoots with long internodes. To improve branching rather start pruning after the spring flush has matured.
Me when I go to get a haircut: "I just want to trim up a little bit off the top. Nothing drastic." Sure thing Sir, say no more! We have the man for the job. [Corin walks in with scissors]
wow... its a nude tree now.. ( corin have you any tips on how to help the trees cope with this heatwave ?? ) noticed you mentiond you have to water your trees 3 times a day on another video. and do you use trays with gravel filled with water to keep the moisture around the bigger trees to help drying leaves .. just out of interest
Hi Allan, just watering is key, you can use shade netting if you need to , we have too many here so we just increase the watering. That keeps us busy !!
Wow beautiful Bonsai Thank you for good sharing 😊 Include LIKE 842 , I leave 3 presents 🎁 My friend, always Stay connected. Have a nice day 😊 & Welcome to my channel ~~
Thank you for sharing this work ; and “ thank you “ again for verbally explaining why you chose to prune as you have !
nice tree and nice work, i look forward to the sequel
LOVE all your videos! And can't wait to get my two from you and the soil. I've not shopped anywhere else. Kate, Shetland
What a great tree to bonsai you can just about do anything to it and it won’t die. Apart from under watering. Looks great after the hair cut.❤
Now that was a good 'haircut'. Looking forward to this tree's journey.

Two fused trunks make 1 tree :) . Love the double wiring in one go, very neat, what a show off! 😂

What isn't there is as important as what is there. Well done!
Good character of tree trunk👍💚
Bought a couple of bonsai off these guys a few days ago... Top notch
Un grand merci à vous pour le partage.
Privet are amazingly resilient trees and make very good bonsai as you have clearly demonstrated. They can also look wonderfully gnarly.
This has inspired me to do my privet, thank you Corin, another great video.👍😎
Wow, another great video.
Nice work! Looks good!
Excellent channel mate, beginning with bonsai and your content and variety is best on here, thank you sir

Who didn’t get pushed into privet when we were kids? Now we’re talking to them and turning them into works of art
Looks far better
12:58 I love that snap decision (literally) in removing that branch so quickly. I need to apply that quick thinking in my daily life!
I love your channel. Consistently fantastic content. Nice work on the privet. What a wonderful specimen. Thanks, keep growing
Thanks Corin 👍🏾

Super tree, can't wait to see what looks like
Good stuff, I'd have done the same. Looks like a strong tree! Love your videos
Absolutely massive tree. It will look great once the foliage grows. Great video 🌲
thanks Corin, would be great to see the greenhouse and how you manage it.
This will have some fabulous shape, Can't wait for the next video when the fresh new foliage is out! 👍😎
positively stunning!

Another great video. Are you planning on doing an update on the maple group planting that you did last year?
Fantastic job. and so efficient! I just told my husband that a bonsai should look as pleaseing without foliage as it does when leafed out. You have proven that. How long has the privet been in training? Greetings from Boston, MA, USA
Thanks Corin. I can't have one of these - Domestic Management hates the smell of the flowers.
You can always prune right before flowering.
Privet!!!! 😵
My childhood is scarred by memories of having to follow my dad round as he trimmed those common privet hedges, having to collect up the clippings. I still have nightmares…
Can we have a follow up on this one corin?
of course, but I only did it a week ago, so you'll have to wait a bit !!

Thanks I’m advance.
Can you expand a bit more about how you will feed the Privet please Corin?
