  • Revisiting a Chinese Cork Bark Elm he worked on in a recent video ( • For an Elegant Elm Bon... ), Eric demonstrates how to predict growth patterns so you can use them to your advantage in designing a bonsai tree.
00:00:28 Eric shares the results of his previous work, done 1 month earlier.
00:00:45 Prognosticating the tree's future without more work.
00:01:45 Eric sketches out the rough outline of growth he wants to see.
00:02:20 While trimming the tree, Eric explains his cut decisions in relation to the future of the tree.
00:03:10 More sketching - the next round of tree growth and design, and future wiring considerations.
00:04:33 Eric predicts future rounds of cut back, wiring, and cut back again.
00:05:35 How you can really see all the steps that go into developing this tree.
Do you feel ready to predict YOUR tree's future? Let us know in the comments below. Thank you for watching! Please like this video and share it with your bonsai friends - it really helps us to continue creating new videos to support your bonsai practice!

This video is something you just don’t see yet, it’s a basic beginning block to understand how to shape and predict your bonsai which is just one of the most important things to learn. This is thinking outside of the square! Thank you so much for your content. Awesome stuff!

Meanwhile in Oregon, most of my trees haven't even started their first flush, haha. Very neat video though! I love that you're revisiting the same trees to demonstrate the results of each technique and illustrating what responses you expect going forward. Clear and useful information, thanks :D
