Hey Chris, to put Nova launcher as default launcher you need to go in Nova settings and from there you need to set it as default launcher, I have tried in other smartphone and it worked!!!

They still use rounded corners though. I prefer the old angled corner. Those were the days before smartphones transitioned to stupid rounded corners. Rounded corners is all well and good if they want a full-screen phone meaning edge to edge display. Angled corners works best especially in gaming and video watching as rounded corners tend to clip the display in full-screen viewing. You will see it in games, you'll be missing those details like name or radar display, minor inconvenience but it irks me that most if not all these smartphone companies adapted to rounded corners.

Yes it's an absolute monster this phone and they really kept that SD8Gen1 under control here unlike the other SD8Gen1 phones I've covered that are overheating messes when gaming.
This video either shows how much Samsung underclocked the same SOC in it's Tab S8 Ultra or it shows how well this phone can handle the same SOC found in this phone. Whatever it is, I bet that the cooling is really helping things tick along
I'm using Red Magic 6s Pro. It's really snappy in games, fast and very cool to the touch. I think moving forward, major smartphone manufacturers should consider implementing Active Cooling Fans in their phones since SOCs nowadays are super hot It's possible to make it dust/water resistance (Lenovo Duel)
There is one major problem in the phone which no ones talking about.. I have red magic 6 pro ghost version When the fan starts cooling during game It sucks in dust particles also which remains inside And it looks dirty from the transparent back. I dont know how to clean it from inside

They've been using the exact same camera setup in these devices for like the last 4 generations. Does the launcher software still suck? Does it still prevent you from saving a different laucher as the default? Are gesture controls still unavailable with third party launchers? EDIT: Oops, I asked my question before watching the video. So they DID lock out 3rd party launchers AGAIN. They will NOT fix this with an update as it's been an issue since the VERY FIRST Red Magic device. Shame. And a deal breaker since the default laucher sucks.
Finally someone properly using the power of the 8gen1 chip for gaming with good cooling, shame the battery can't keep up. Headphone jack and video out is most welcome to see present

Hmm. It would be much nicer if at least it has a decent camera setup. Even a midrange device around 400-450usd would have a decent camera but not compromised performance. Having that 165hz display is overkill since there's no apps that has support in it.
6000mah is the optimal battery size for all the heavy set features, 5000 won't cut it specially not on gaming phone with SD8G1. Why there is no gaming phone that has flagship cameras as well??? The last was Huawei Mate 20 X(4G).

Fortnite's official Team Rumble mode is a 16 v 16 "team deathmatch" mode where players keep respawning over a 15-20 min period with an ever decreasing storm circle. By the last 10 minutes or so, having so many players in such close proximity with the environment effects and building mechanics can tank the S22 Ultra on Epic settings down to the 20s for FPS. I was actually looking ata gaming phone to shoot video last year because flagships run so hot. Shooting straight 4k easily overheats many phones, so a gaming phone with 4k60 and active cooling plus Filmic Pro would be an attractive alternative to some content creators.
Unless you have thin bezels like S22, there's no point in making punch hole display. I've seen phones with thicker bezels than this and still have punch holes.

Wow they didn't kid themselves when the cooling system had an impactful upgrade, much cooler than its predecessor. That just means the S8G1 needs active cooling like a laptop to have good thermals.
I think the active cooling is helpful in hot weather too. Also, how easy is it to install custom roms on this phone chris? I saw the red magic 6 get pixel experience and it was MILES better. Basically everything improved
Yes it really helps with such a hot chipset that little fan. As for the customs roms well you need an unlocked bootloader, TWRP and to flash over a good stable working ROM. But not sure on any that are out yet for it.

Its got a nice display, with 60hz half decent battery life, good speakers, fast, etc. The only downside is the software. If a custom rom can be applied to it, that would improve cameras, battery life, etc. This is why I like xiaomi and snapdragon. I put arrow os on my x3 pro and it made my phone feel a lot better. And snapdragon has good custom rom support unlike mediatek.

That's design for gaming, you don't need screen to reach to the edge because then you might accidentally touch on the edge and you also don't want notch or camera cutout to restrict your view

Not just red magic has problems, even Asus Rog has a lot of problems also like heating issues plus shut down after 6 month or 8 month and black shark in the other hand they have a lot of issues like touch screen bugs

Hi, not a problem at all for this phone it runs at max FPS with the refresh you use. The COps engine is very light, what isn't was Genshin I tested most phones run it at mid 40s, this was 59-60 all the time.

Been using the RedMagic 5s for over a year, fucking amazing phone.
Hmm. It would be much nicer if at least it has a decent camera setup. Even a midrange device around 400-450usd would have a decent camera but not compromised performance. Having that 165hz display is overkill since there's no apps that has support in it.
Only a handful of games run with uncapped FPS like Real racing, so just a few titles can do 165fps but most cap at 60 fps.

The agresiveness of the curve edges of the screen obscures some info in games.

Poor design IMO. Big bezels and rounded screen corners. Bit 18gb of RAM, more than most desktop PCs and Steam Deck.

Iphone doesn't have gaming features and stuff that is in this phone, also iphone screen touch response is worse and no buttons on top and stuff

Hi, not a problem at all for this phone it runs at max FPS with the refresh you use. The COps engine is very light, what isn't was Genshin I tested most phones run it at mid 40s, this was 59-60 all the time.
