I have had my Red Magic 7 for a couple weeks now. Got it partly because of your review. I love the phone. I've yet to find any faults with it. It functions so smooth. I've actually used it more as a media phone rather than a gaming phone and it's just fantastic. I highly recommend it.
I'm on expert but the fact that the body of the device gets a bit hot could be testament to the fact that the cooling system is doing its job well. The cooling system's job is to draw as much heat as possible from the processor and transfer that heat to the outside world. The only way it can do that is through the body of the device, especially with devices that have no cooling fan.
Yes pulling the heat away from the chipset but there comes a point the phone is uncomfortable to hold it's that warm. That shouldn't happen and the Redmagic 7 (non pro) was cooler.
Moving forward phones will need to have active cooling, and this can be nicely hidden when not needed by some sort of sliding door for the fan. This ensures no dust or liquid gets in there whist in normal use. And yes, attaching an external fan is one way of doing it.
Have you ever had any major problems with RedMagic products in general? Since no one has answered you, I will. I have a red magic 5S and I could not be more brutally honest about how much I love this phone. Everything is fine with a few minor negatives but what phone doesn't have a few? The only major thing I don't like about it so far: once in a great while the phone will restart on it's own. It doesn't happen often enough to truly irritate me or make it a deal breaker, but something to note. Lastly, the camera is alright, not the best but I doubt anyone is buying a gaming phone for the camera. I'm planning on getting either the 7 or 7 pro. Hope this helps. The fact the frame and back is getting hotter shows the heat from the CPU/GPU is being dissipated better, the back is metal specifically for use with the cooling fan.
I thought this too, but if you actually look at the thermals and prolonged stability tests, the 7 Pro gets hotter INSIDE too, and throttles the CPU more than the Vanilla 7. So it seems like the metal body pulling more heat away, but that's actually because the 7 Pro is literally making more heat. After an hour of CPU stressing with fan on the 7 Pro throttles to 86% where as the regular 7 on the same tests throttles to 92%. They removed vents from the 7 Pro that the regular 7 has. I think this is where the problem is. Because the 7 Pro gets hotter inside AND out. Also, the battery life on the Pro when browsing and idling is somehow worse despite being larger and having a lower refresh rate display.
@@Notpoop906 yeh i think it's missing the 2nd vent because of the metal back so their cooling fan will work better, the cooling chip in their cooling fan would transfer the cold better to metal than glass.

Hard to get an impression of the speakers, are you familiar with the ROG 5 speaker performance? How does this compare? Best I've heard and actually decent bass, which makes a big difference for content consumption. Looking for a 2022 gaming phone, but don't want to walk back from the speaker quality of the ASUS. The Blackshark looks like it has speaker performance down, but I'm not sure how its cooling performance is Vs the Redmagic.
Wow, this phone blasts legit flagships out the water. Infact it seems better than the mix 4 too. Even design wise its real close to the mix 4. Seems like a solid alternative to it. Manufacturers, we want these kinds of phones. With active cooling because it helps in hot weather too. I do wonder how its battery life is with a custom rom. Because my x3 pro with arrow os gets 12hr of sot with a ips display. Wonder if the 7 pro will get 11 hr.
It has two major problems, you can't disable quick setting menu so that defeats the whole point of the no obstruction screen as it's a pain in game. Also opening the custom menu in game mode ( trigger settings) doesn't work as it tries to go to minimise or change app. So in short it's useless, redmagic support is terrible at best. Sadly wasted a lot of money on this phone.
@Emanon the none pro has more inlets air vent, while the pro version has less inlet air vent, pro version has 120hz refresh rate display, while none pro has 165hz refresh rate display, none pro has steady 60fps Genshin Impact on none pro while Pro version has 54fps, hope this helps
Doesbit survive when accidentaly submerged on water? I'm curious because we don't know if it is happen to you outside or when you accidentaly walking in the rain.
What I want to know is if the cooling ports get clogged up with junk over time. Pocket lint, dust, etc. If this is a daily driver, it can't have that problem.
Im really thorn between redmagic7 and the realme gt2 pro. Both seem so similar it is really hard to choose. Do you have any preference between these phones?
I personally don't see the purpose of this release Chris as well. The 7 with a little bezel on the top and bottom, looked fine to me. You get terrible selfies with the pro, battery life is still poor although the battery is bigger, and it gets seriously hot. I totally agree with your assessment Sir on this one. 👌👌Great review 👍👍
U clearly dont know what u are talking about, the 7 Pro almost never gets hot, maximum it gets warm but not hot😂 and the battery is better and u notice that alot

Red Magic is a huge liability as it's not water resistant - if you need to repair it because of that, you'll have to pay more than its original cost (!). They don't have physical stores or local support which means any repair will be done abroad (with shipping costs being charged to you), and any peripherals you want to buy will also come with a shipment surplus, so it's just a money sucking machine. Just to give you an idea, my RM 6 pro (top specs) lightly touched some water which got into the charging port (so it's not like it was submerged) and because that's not covered by the warranty I had to send it abroad for repair. They said all data in there is lost (an sd card slot would have been useful here) and they are asking for roughly 120% its original price to repair it. Obviously I'm not paying that to repair a phone that is no longer their latest generation. I'd be paying more than double for a soon-to-be obsolete device with not even any emotional attachment since all data is gone. Gaming phones are a huge risk because they're not water resistant, but Red Magic really takes the cake. Any suggestions on a high-end cool smartphone I can use for gaming that's water resistant and has good customer support?

@@martinangelomooney1010 60fps?
@@iamneo4390 Yes. You can play at 60fps for all settings but medium is the recommended to avoid heating
Who needs a smoothing filter for selfies when you have that front camera. Very flattering!
Haha true
U dont know gaming, do u? I mean just look how freaking smooth that screen and design is!!
@@McLova911 what are you even talking about, they were just saying they actually like the blurry look of the front facing under display camera, that's it.
@@shutitfukface Well i misread, theres no need to be the internet rambo
@@shutitfukface My comment wasnt even that insulting lol, since i kept being nice lol
Nubia is innovator for mobile device.
Headphone jack and sd card support are a must for a gaming phone.
I agree and video output via type c
How is the Software updates support for RedMagic phones?
If redmagic 7 better than pro version, blackshark 5 pro might be the fastest gaming smartphone and better than redmagic 7
Would be we will have to wait and see what happens.
@@Techtablets are you waiting for rog phone 6 series?
Always perfect Chris 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Well regular or pro either one would be good the pro has 120hz refresh rate still not deal breaker lol
If I had a choice to buy pro or none pro, I'll gladly buy the none pro phone
Same here!
@Emanon late but your welcome, hope I helped you out and subscribe Chris channel
Doesbit survive when accidentaly submerged on water? I'm curious because we don't know if it is happen to you outside or when you accidentaly walking in the rain.
Rain is red magics enemy…..it literally has open vents to the inside of the phone
Its a gaming phone, my plan is to buy it and use it for everything, but if i go outside i'll just use the phone i use right now (Redmi 7) btw i like 7
Dont go outside with it, or dont bring it near water
I have the red magic 6 pro love it now need the 7 lol
What's the camera like? If its a decent one this seems like a bargain
That's not very good cooling
buy red magic 7 pro or black shark 5 pro
can I use this in Nepal? Do I have to unlock it
Thanks for the review. Does it have an ESS Sabre DAC like on the ROG Phone 5s?
No it doesn’t have a special DAC but even so doesn’t sound bad and is loud.
Rog is shit phone dont buy very bad experience first air triggers went off then one speaker not working worst phone ever.
What I want to know is if the cooling ports get clogged up with junk over time. Pocket lint, dust, etc. If this is a daily driver, it can't have that problem.
Hi eventually it will get dust it it yes, just like type c ports but a quick vacuum or blow it should be fine.
@@Techtablets I never getted that statement do I just do a vaccum cleaner on it?🤣
Im really thorn between redmagic7 and the realme gt2 pro. Both seem so similar it is really hard to choose. Do you have any preference between these phones?
GT2 Pro if you want better cameras and the better UI. If you game a lot the Redmagic 7
Never ever buy Realme company! All of them are locked to 60 fps on games! Im trying to refund money for my realme GT2 pro cuz of this issue!
Yes it not like the 7 was bad even if the design was old, we got the better front camera, better thermals and 165hz vs now 120hz.
A pop-up camera could have been better.
@@s.f.2480 that is one of the most unnecesary things ever, like srsly?! Pop up camera? They suck
U clearly dont know what u are talking about, the 7 Pro almost never gets hot, maximum it gets warm but not hot😂 and the battery is better and u notice that alot
And i would rather have under display camera since its a gaming phone
👍
Phone these days should good spec and bigger battery life
your earphone are like mine. the cheapest triple driver earphone from xiaomi.
Would red magic 7 pro beat worth the upgrade from a Poco F3??
and still only 2 triggers. where other gaming phones have 4 or even like the lenovo 6 triggers
True but do you really need 4 or 6? Can't say I would but yes it would be handle with some games.
I agree with Chris. More doesnt mean better. Its just some gimmick manufacturers made to get us spending. Lolol

@@jankeat6 you are so wrong. same as you have 4 triggers on gaming pad, same way it works on gaming phone. you have no idea what you talking about. I guess you never even played COD mobile on gaming phone or tablet with 4 fingers. have nothing to do of being better, but have quicker reaction.
Guess i'll give it a try to find out✌️
Waiting for you're redmi k50 or 50 pro review. :)
Good bro. Please review Vivo X Fold
