Love the build overall. I'm currently rocking a bulky Herengon beast barb 6/echo knight fighter 3. Very strong and insane mobility. Jumping/teleporting around, climbing walls and ceilings, and loves ambush tactics. I reskinned the whiplike tail into a super fluffy one that tries to absorb blows. My first venture into a non-caster class and am having a blast with it.
That sounds like a really fun and powerful combo! I love the fluffy tail!
I really love the Harengon with the beast barb/fighter build. I went with beast barb 6/rune knight 4. Like you I love the jumping around and the awesome mobility. With Rune Knight I get to become a Large Harengon which is cool for grappling and the Cloud Rune/Stone Rune makes an great option in is some circumstances. It is definitely my favorite character thus far!

On build I want to try is a Beast Barb and Mercy Monk. The only problem is being so MAD. With extra attack you can a mixture claw attack and punches for 7 attacks.
I have a Grung Beast Barbarian named Coqui that's fun, especially since the Lv6 Bestial Soul modes are like natural progressions of the base Grung features. So his core combat loop is to Rage, jump into a victim's face, grapple or climb onto them depending on comparative size (my DM uses the optional climbing onto creatures
Rule from page 271 of the DMG), then spending consecutive rounds wailing on the victim with Tail or Bite attacks unless they're immune to poison or has +11 saves. Fun fact, RAW a DM can have you roll a DC 10 Athletics check to clear an obstacle no taller than a quarter of your Long Jump distance on a Long Jump. So Coqui can jump over a Large Creature with his 45ft Jump mode jump, potentially take fall damage from a Long Jump, and make use of the new Falling on a Creature optional rule in Tasha's pg 170. Lots of fun in the Gladiator/Pro Wrestling style campaign he's in. Instead of getting his mutations from lycanthropy, druidic, or fey magics, his Beast path is the result of self-experimentation by trying to jury-rig his own version of the Grung promotion ritual to forcibly promote himself from a Red Grung to Gold via proficiency in Herbalism Kit and Alchemist Supplies. When he rages, his skin turns black with an iridescent oil spill quality, he grows needle-like fangs like an anglerfish, chitinous talons, and a fleshy prehensile tail with a poisonous barb like a scorpion or wyvern. Funnily enough, no one else in the party took Grung in their languages and Coqui didn't take anything else. I did pick up the Adept Linguist feature from the Anthropologist Tomb of Annihilation background for my custom background, so he can get the gist of things but chooses to only speak Grung. Since Grung are lawful evil slavers, I play him as evil but incompetent, sort of a mix between Stewie Griffin and Invader Zim.
This is such a great character idea. I am personally partial to the Grung Paladin using Lay on Hands a lot. There's a bit of an issue there but it's all in the vein of having fun
I’ve got a ‘Gamera’ build, using a Tortle, this Barbarian multiclassed with the Ascendant Dragon Monk, and rewatching the heisei Gamera trilogy like twice lol. It’s a nifty combo! He focuses on using the Claws in conjunction with Monk flurrying, can avoid the MADness to a certain extent thanks to Tortle armor, and is just real cool
I love that idea! Yeah you'll be better off with tortle armor than either Unarmored Defense most of the time so that's an awesome combo
Symbiotic entity takes an action to set up and only lasts 10 minutes, so in most combats it will take too much of the action economy to be useful. Also it goes down if you get hit once. Definitely go fighter instead
Just had my 1st 2.5hr session and my friend/dm looked at me all -.- like when I stated my barbarian is a gnome... and I plan to go path of the beast claws. The adventure so far is in a mine infested with spiders. My only party member is a Grung. The dm found out we were so short and said we didn't need to make saves for tripping the spider webs. And started cracking jokes that my battleaxe is bigger than me.
This is why I love D&D lol
You mentioned flavor at the beginning of the video but didn't explain it by the end. How did you invision this character? What type of "beastial" aspect was their transformation? What I love so much about this subclass is how easy it is to reflavor the abilities gained through the subclass. I was just curious about the character itself and the story you are building with them with these choices. With dips in Spore Druid, is the "tail" just an amalgamation of fungi? Fun video, really got me thinking.
With this one I see the character being completely covered in spores when raging (obviously two separate things but I would activate them in the same turn) and a little stinger tail that is covered in them. Incredibly colorful character. There are just so many directions to go with this one.

Sounds good. We can make that happen in the near future!
Also, the Long-limbed Bugbear feature only applies to melee attacks on your turn, so you wouldn't maintain the 15ft reach for Sentinel opportunity attacks. Not that Sentinel with 10ft reach is anything to scoff at.
I do find this to be such a weird restriction. I feel like most DMs would rule this for all melee attacks just for simplicity's sake but that's just me

I am playing a beast hide shifter path of the beast barbarian/ scout rogue with the rogue class being my starting class. Yep, right now it feels wonderful lol
That's awesome! I have a shifter Blood Hunter/Barbarian in my CoS right now and it's a blast. It's super fun
@@DapperSnapperGaming I love it! I attack from a distance with my bow with sneak attack until someone gets in close. Then rage and make them regret surviving my ranged attacks lol

Damphire + Claws with some Monk levels. Treantmonk did something along those lines.

Good video, but I don't really see what those druid levels really add to the build. Rage is the defining feature of the barb and it clashes with most of what that the druid does. I don't see the utility, i guess.
The Druid levels give us extra damage for free with our spores. We can have Rage and Wild Shape at the same time so after a round of set up, we are good to go. It is also mostly for flavor to fit the theme.
@@DapperSnapperGaming question. doesn't the extra damage from circle of spores end once the extra hit points are gone, and this build only has 8 from symbiotic entity.
Yes it is quite limited with the few levels we take. All the more reason to get our AC as high as possible. It is mostly for flavor purposes to be honest but it has a little utility if played right.
I want the shifter build and i want the dgampir build please!!!

I do DM. I am running Curse of Strahd for some friends right now. I'm not sure if I would have the time for something like that even if that kind of opportunity arose.
