@@RichMerry It doesn't appear to require concentration. Just a bonus action to change to or back from the shifter form. Honestly, I would explain path of the beast as them tapping deeper into their natural shifter abilities. Depends on the DM, at that point
@@GruntJoe0341 Shifting basically works like rage. On that note I am building a Beast Barbarian Shifter. He is a Grey Wolf tribesman, and both raging and shifting tap further into the lycanthropy of his tribe. I also have him slowly lose control over the lycanthropy as he levels up, permanently trapping him in 1/4 wolf form at level 6, to explain starting as a shifter and the level 6 feature, and add some really cool flavor.
The most obvious race choice is Shifter. Perfectly fits the theme of the subclass, and the wildhunt variant is incredibly strong paired with Reckless Attack. Free advantage for one minute is amazing.
One feat i would pick with the beast barbarian is fightning style, so you can take mariner. Mariner gives you +1 to CA and climbing and swimming speed, you can role how your arms changed with spider arms while climbing that wall, or how you're legs become more siren like while swimming
I love this 😂 currently doing research for a upcoming campaign for a lawful evil and this just clicked for me. Already decided on a leonis as a race but currently struggling on the type of barbarian until now.
Nice to see you use the new artwork from Forgotten Realms. May I note that Bestial Soul's considerable buff to jumping distance seems useful in combat for certain grappling builds?
Yea, I’ve been anticipating the MTG block for months now. I didn’t consider a grapple build for the beast, that’s just crazy enough that it could work!
@@RichMerry Me too! Regarding the jumping, I'm imagining a 30+ feet supplex bomb or maybe a feline barbarian that grapples airborne foes. Even if it's not that effective, it certainly seems cool to me. Anyways, keep up the good work, sir!
I'm currently running a Half-Ork Oder of the Lycan Blood Hunter in curse of strahd, and am thinking about multiclassing into Barb for this. My mum was a lycan, so I can play heavily into werewolf side. I could use hemomancy to curse people then use a bite to replenish that health. Just depends on how high level this campaign gets
Currently playing a fire genasi path of the beast barbarian with soldier background. I enjoy the flavor of the beast being his primordial link to the plane of fire
Currently trying a build where I’m multi-classing into Rune Knight. I’m going to try shenanigans with grappling massive creatures and spamming my bite attack.
Why wouldn't their jump ability be useful in combat? I'm hoping to play a Beast Barbarian eventually and plan on making the jump option the default. I'm picturing jumping over enemies/cover to get to ranged enemies. Jumping up to flying enemies or archers in trees. Maybe even jumping just to do falling damage to an enemy.
Path of the beast plus shifter race. Long tooth. Turn 1 bonus action rage, movement action to enemy standard action attack enemy with 2 claw attacks 1d6 +str+2 1d6+str +2. (+2 is the rage dmg). Turn 2 bonus action shift to long tooth gain temp hp for lvl and con mod move attack with 2 claws. Turn 3 move attack with 2 claws than bite with long tooth for 1d6 +str+2. [ on 3rd turn you can do 3d6 with str mod and 2 rage dmg on each attack coming to either 3 star mod x 3 = 9 plus 2 rage dmg x 3 = 6 making it 3d6 plus 15 dmg on turn 3

One race I'm really wanting to run with this subclass is the shifter. Especially the longtooth shifter. Some fun synergies, there
Does longtooth shifter have to concentration on its ability? I’m not sure if it stacks with rage, the writing is ambiguous.

@@ratoh1710 oh nice. The Second skin “Dark gift“ would pair well with that.
@@RichMerry What is ambiguous about it? Looks super straight forward

Gonna play a campaign as a beast barbarian who's literally just a farmer who can turn into a really angry cow lmao, super excited

getting a swimming speed is very combat oriented. underwater combat comes with a ton of detrimental effects if you don't have a swimming speed.

I’m currently playing a simic hybrid Beast Barbarian
I have a Dhampir Path of the Beast Barbarian, starting with the feat Tavern Brawler. Great for a low level starter.
Playing tortle beast barbarian + shield for a potential max 27 ac :P i do love it

Had an idea of a dhampir beast barbarian flavoring it as an tarkatan from mortal kombat, using the claws as arm blades

I'm currently in the process of making a dhampir path of the beast barbarian. She can turn into a part bat abomination! Like a were-bat as such
Wanted to make the most good boy werewolf I could so my longtooth shifter barbarian had become the group baby
Let's go with a BugBear Barbarian Path of the Beast!
