    My favorite Barbarian subclass. You might enjoy my deep dive video on it. I analyzed the DPR that Path of the Beast can output compared to the Zealot Barbarian with Great Weapon Master and Polearm Master.

    I like the idea of 'claws' being those of a preying mantis.

      I never even considered insects as the inspiration. That Imagery is really cool even if you use bite! That is something scary and makes for some fun art.

    I started playing a sword and shield Paladin recently. 18 starting AC, then I used Shield of Faith to boost myself to 20 AC as a best option navigating between combats. I got knocked on my ass over and over again, to the point that spells ran out and I had to get stabilized, then wait out the 1d4 hours. The DM just kept rolling really well against me. That's something that AC doesn't account for. If the dice want you down, you're going down. Not so with Rage. Rage accepts that you're going to get hit and mitigates it. Had I been a Barbarian in those encounters I'd have stayed on my feet and my party's healing would have essentially done double work on me.
    That's Barbarian's as a whole though. Path of the Beast Barbarian is my favorite subclass because when Barbarians start falling off (level 9 and on), they get some fantastic multiclass options to keep the pain train rolling. Probably my favorite is transitioning from Path of the Beast Barbarian somewhere after 6 but before 10 and going with Soul Knife Rogue the rest of the way. Trade one of your attacks for the Psychic Blade which will in turn allow for a bonus attack (starting round 2 of combat) with the full strength, rage, and 1d6 damage. Better, if you Reckless attack you get Advantage which means your Sneak attacks will always land, creating an every-other-level 1d6 damage boost. Covering even more Barbarian weaknesses, going into Rogue gets you more proficiencies and expertise, with even Reliable Talent coming on very late. So now you're the tank, the DPR, as well as a skill monkey outside of combat. An amazing all-rounder.
    Another fantastic one is getting dual wielder on the beast barb (allows claws which count as simple weapons to be dual wielded, albeit without the strength modifier), and multiclassing out of it and into Paladin somewhere after level 6 but before level 10. Take 2 levels of Paladin for Smite, then multiclass into either Bard or Sorcerer to boost your Smite slots. Smite isn't a spell, so you can use it in rage as your claws count as simple weapons. Starting at round 2 of combat, with Reckless Attacks you will be rolling 8d20 per round. That's a lot of chances to get a Crit in for a Smite. The spell casting also brings out of combat utility so long as you steer away from to-hit rolls.
    The Beast Barbarian overall brings reliable damage to the table (not dealing with -5 from GWM), and just at the point where they start falling off you are positioned really well to move into other classes to continue advancing both your in combat prowess as well as your overall utility in gameplay.

      That is a great analysis. I love duel wielder on the barbarian, it dose add a great bonus action, as well as an additional attack. Not taking the fighting style is on point for the barbarian as well.
      A lot of multiclassing gets wild so you really gotta focus in on it.

    I once had a player run a true neutral barbarian/druid who was the son of an orog and a human. Worked out very nicely. Rage ,animal shape shifting, AND spells!

      I am in a game right now with a Druid barbarian it works that is a nasty combination especially for early levels

    • @tonyromasco1735
      @tonyromasco1735 2 года назад

      I agree! But even at higher levels, they are a force to be reckoned with.
      Once you get access to "call woodland beings", you become a one-man army likely with spell faster support. A verse tier tiger or T,Red isn't A joke! Lol

    I dont see it in the lists below so I will say it: Shifter it gives you temp hp which works well with rage, Take wildhunt to get more out of reckless attack and now you are attacking at advantage without any downside

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад +1

      That’s really clever. On top of that is really works with the character development due to being a shifter and path of the beast. It’s really cool cus it’s like giving into your beastial self and tying it to your rage is a very cool werewolf lycan kind of feel

    This subclass puts the beast in beast mode i love the savage and wild theme and it does it better than the totem barbarian

  • @Trial88

    I’ve been toying the idea of multi classing path of the beast with a wizard for a Dr Jekyll and mr Hyde build. All the barbarian stuff you get is flavored as all the tests you perform on yourself

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад +1

      In a low level campaign that could work, barbarians being there strongest early on, depending on your wizard abilities you could go all adventure ing spells and utility

    • @Trial88
      @Trial88 2 года назад +2

      @@TheSinisterheroes yeah I think I’d start as a wizard and then multi class into barbarian and the rage is really an experiment gone wrong. Then trying to find ways to enhance it afterwards. Aka sub class and features and what not. I’d have a blast playing that. Mad scientist who is morally grey

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад +2

      @@Trial88 that definitly soulds like fun. i wonder what other mad scientist combinations are possible now that you turned me on to this idea

    • @Trial88
      @Trial88 2 года назад +2

      @@TheSinisterheroes even though it’s “the worst” artificer sub class the alchemist really fits that niche too. Would love to see you do a video on your idea of a sinister mad scientist. Or just character build videos in general. I think you’d get some good viewership and feedback with your style and personality on that type of video.

    • @TheSinisterheroes

      @@Trial88 thanks that means alot to us. I really don’t do builds cus there never gonna be optimized there just gonna be what I like so maybe I’ll give it a go someday, the alchemist is the worst artificer subclass???? Hmmm well let me take a crack at it lol

    Im considering playing this subclass on a minotaur and the rp for it is all minotaurs can trace their blood to baphomet and thats where the beastial rage comes from.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад +1

      That’s awesome I love it when you can tie your character to an existing entity because you can tie in animosity or respect from different cultures. And incorporate that to the role play

  • @andrewbriggs2692
    @andrewbriggs2692 Год назад +1

    like the idea of mix this barbarian with s monk. i know the rules are complicated but cursed martial artist who uses his beastial curse to manifest claws or tail while using a sweeping kick. little anime-ish but concept wise could be fun

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Год назад

      Oh yeah it could work.to be fair once you get level 5 you could just run monk. Still using strength for your attacks instead of dex. And I wouldn’t worry to much about un armored cus you get it from both.

    • @andrewbriggs2692
      @andrewbriggs2692 Год назад +1

      @TheSinisterheroes i think rogue would also be fun mix. throw a dagger get sneak attack. rage and run in. use a shield and claw tail. take shield master and shove and stab. a rogue who recived a curse after stealing from a druidic grove.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Год назад

      With the rogue it is interesting. They are a wild class as a whole. I like them a lot, but it’s intricate being them effectively.

    I like the barbian beast to make vampire warhammer strigo
    The damphair is a good pc
    The vampire monster version is worse for the party. Particularly when the party is ambush by them

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Год назад +1

      I really don’t know much about war hammer but from what I have seen I have liked. Yes you could very well use a vampire form almost as a change in form like vampire ism magnifies your hatred and you get thrown into rage filled bloodlust. Which is very cool!

      @@TheSinisterheroes warhammer wise I find I like the vampire counts, vampire coats, tomb kings, and vampire bloodlines and tend to add these into my dnd games. Let's just make these pcs terrify my dms for how brutal these characters
