I must say being a hexblood is really really cool. I didn’t think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did. They are cool there creepy, and they give such a full opportunity to get really weird. I like the idea of bringing gifts to the hag. I think giving the gifts regularly as tribute to the hag is cool. Especially if in really dire times they offer a child for protection or what ever it is, shows the people to be capable of great sacrifice in times of need. Also it poses the question what happens when the hexblood finds out and returns to the village? That’s a great moment to work through

@TheSinisterheroes Yeah I haven't figured out the specifics, but since hexbloods are usually female I think the male hexbloods would be destined to sold to night hags to be made into hagworms. Like a, "You stop being useful and you'll be sent to [____] and turned into a worm." Really would like to play a knowledge domain cleric so I'm thinking my character would be tasked with gathering valuable knowledge. Maybe other males would be rangers or infiltrators and I could notice the hag surveillance 'devices' in certain locales.

Hexbloods can be any gender so if you wanted to play a male that works. A lot of the time the hags influencer is created when a deal is made, so if a baby is conceived it could be any. That’s just really a flavor thing, or a personal choice. I tend to always play male characters, which is just a me thing. What I think is most important is your idea to be a knowledge cleric. Especially considering you put it in a way I would have never thought of. I always thought of knowledge clerics as like bookworms, or wizards like in academics. In what you said I now see a thief of knowledge. Like knowledge is power and it’s my duty to upset that balance. Which really gets me excited!

Actually I love it!!! Gith kind of come from the future it’s sooo complicated, but they could originate from being elves before they were altered by the illithids. So maybe there is something to them leaving them in a somewhat peaceful coexistence.

@TheSinisterheroes Illith slave program, in pre-history, what does a Githyanki look like? Across between a half/0rk and a Half/elf (kinda). In their historic experimental breeding program that generated the Githyanki in first place from all their slave races breeding stock. Yes, they breed for a race strong as humans and Ork, heart as dwarf and had ears and light build of an elf. Doesn't that look like a Githyanki. Here is another truth. The Githyanki slave uprising is a myth. A programmed memory into the slaves; to let the servant race believe in this cover story. The Aboleth remembers the Illith race appearing one day (out of time) from nowhere. By giving their slaves the illusion of a successful uprising, are they for filling an ancient pseudo-history. A prophecy of Illith's own creation? (Actor in an ancient play being performed) With a race time traveling backwards and living forward. They would have seen this successful slave uprising being fulfilled in historical records. In reality the Githyanki are still the unwittingly pawns if the Illith. And they don't even know it.

@ why would they do that? If githyanki literally go out and hunt the ilithid with great success. Why create this false hood to hunt your own people to the point where there so few in numbers? There is such a long history of races slaving other races. The ilithids actions on their own breed enemies wherever they go.

@TheSinisterheroes An easy question to answer. But it comes down to a savory steak. To a mindflayers that elvan kingdom is free range chicken dinner. That horde of human barbarian are like the 🐃 bison. The poor souls in the slave pen (lauder) all have memories of pain and torture. Now that doesn't taste good. It's junk food. They want to eat memories of running through the Sylvan forest. Memories of wizards inventing a new spell. Good savory memories. So every sentient race is food, if that's your case, who are your allies? No one. If you can think for yourself mindflayers are not your allies. Everyone needs allies? So every one fears and hate you. What your genius level intelligence do come up with a plan. Oh look the food is smart enough and resource enough to raise it own kids. We don't have to hand raise them all. Let's think they are free people, save us mindflayers a lot of work. Doing it this way. Free Labor doing it this way. The Illith empire want steak, ok, in human worlds throughout the cosmos (run silent and deep) set up outpost (franchise) and feed the make back in the Illith Empire. That all they are small farms. Slave plantations feeding the market. Here is important facts both demons and devil hate to admit to. There was a pause in the Bloodwar that Ethernet war. Why? Because the multi-planer Illith empire was about to win. Bigger than 9 planes of Hell, bigger than the 99 planes of the Abyss. The mindflayers were about to take over everything. All the Gods follow were was mindflayers meat market. That once God's follows were dead, the gods would be all dead later. That do God's do....send in the demons and devil all of them at once at same time. The gods are watching, if the Illith try this shit again, trying to kill off all the god but their own. That's the current situation; stalemate. What do Illith do after the war, hide the empire. There is no "Mafia" I mean "The Illithith Empire". Now they rule some distant planet of existent near the Far realm space. Quietly milking the herd. Let's create this mytho their was this slave uprising in the pens. Like we would ever give our slave soldiers tools and mind weapons to be used against us. They whole myth is so dumb and the world believes it. The Githyanki people it. The master of Astral plane and we mindflayers travel through there to reach our outposts. We set up under Githyanki noses all these farms and they don't even notice it. That’s so awesome! That’s a great move to help her adjust to roleplaying. It can be very intimidating your first time doing so. And yes disrespect the life cleric is usually the right move in my book. I think in party strife is a great thing. I think it can provide a sense of reality to being in a group. Sometimes you just don’t like people but you have to work together, in D&D that opens up some cool ideas. Like rivalry, competition, challenges to one another’s character’s conviction. It’s just great role play as long as it doesn’t diverge into toxicity. A healthy anti friend can often end up being the ones your character bonds with.

@TheSinisterheroes my character was Crowley Corvi, a young Human Wizard with the hermit background, as he lived with his isolationist mother and was tutored by a mysterious mage.

The lizardfolk Druid is also a really great character. The lizard folk is strong and it pairs really well with the Druid.

Yes they are not listed as being light so you would need the duel wielder feat, warcaster is more complicated. Due to it being essentially a glove you don’t need warcaster to do somatic components if the hand is empty. But if you wanted a better chance of maintaining channeling spells or wanted to use spells for reactions instead of opportunity attacks then yes.

Unfortunately it doesn’t state that. So even though it falls under the normal punch kind of rules I think with some finesse a cool dm could let it work like a monks martial arts. But the trade off is that artificers tend to get really overpowered at certain points.

Who said you can’t? There is always a way!!! Reflavor a spell, reflavor an ability take a level or two in a multiclass. No one can stop your water genasi from being a water bender

Stomps as vulgar displays of power? So with it!!! Maybe you should work something out with your dm about how to make that like a viable thing for maybe ambush’s. Like maybe you can sit high on a ledge and when combat starts you drop in with like advantage or something

The hexblood BLADESINGER is definitely an exciting composition. How did you decide on bladesinger as opposed to the other subclasses.

@TheSinisterheroes well first i thought about the backstory and i was torn between warlock or bladesinger ( i wanted to play a gish). Both wpuld fit thematically but in the end i chose bladesinger because i wanted to play an intelligence based character with low charisma instead of the opposite. His appearance is grotesque afterall. Also the theme of him going into a dream like trance when he "bladesings" and just elegantly fighting while half asleep really sounded very compelling to me. So came the idea for the hexblood bladesinger which was very dream based

It’s all up to you. You can be anything you want. What matters most to me isn’t what combination of racial abilities, but who the character is.

Congratulations on playing till level 20. That’s a rare occasion. I fully get where your coming from a few reactions per proficiency bonus makes this subclass much much better. This class falls victim to the save it for the right circumstance paradigm. Which always makes you think I’d this it or should I save it. I see the value in your comment, I do believe especially now looking back that things can be improved. I feel like the combat abilities are designed to be more of a weather the storm circumstance. Trying to drag out your survivability. What was you character? Like species/race background.

@@TheSinisterheroes Fire Genasi, a bit of a weird concept. Not really optimal at all. There were a few levels in the middle where I had the 'dark paladin' arc and went Vengeance with a Hexblade dip, polearm master etc and it just worked and fulfilled all class roles. But as a roleplayer, I wanted Redemption - it just doesn't stack up any really workable features to redeem much of anything at all.

@@TheSinisterheroes The revised MotM one, yeah. Overall Fire Genasi is not a choice you make for optimisation. Darkvision and Fire resistance. Plus 3 spells that have no real use on a paladin and were only used for flavour.
