Honestly i think i needed a video like this after the morning i just had when i was walking my dog some drunk asshole falsely accused me of a lot of horrible things so thanks for brightening my day Danny this has cheered me up and i believe you missed a few of my responses on the last video

@@TheSinisterheroesone husky and another a Lab mix all I did was simply cut through some grass in my apartment complex where I live in Florida and suddenly some drunken asshole is accusing me of being a peeping Tom, a pedophile and an animal abuser and it all started because I passed by one of his windows and he saw me cut through the grass I wasn't even looking at any of the windows plus it's an apartment complex he doesn't even own the fucking grass (sorry for dumping that on you I just really needed to vent)

The Wand of Orcus is pretty much the same in 2024. Also Orcus feels like one of those BBEGs that seem like an impossible encounter without significant otherworldly help imo.
With his Wand, he can just conjure up liches, death knights, mummy lords, dracoliches, etc to throw at the party. And if he's in his lair, you have hordes of undead, his lair actions, and probably the toxic environment itself to deal with. And given how hostile Thanatos is just from the environment and undead hordes alone, it's easy to whittle at least one PC down to Power Word Kill range.
I would say the best approach is to have Orcus do his usual thing of sending the Wand out, allow the party the opportunity to take it, and have them go on the quest to destroy it. And destroying it is no easy feat because you have to resurrect the long-lost hero whose skull was used for the Wand (and Orcus has the hero's soul locked up somewhere, so the party will almost definitely have to go into Thanatos anyway), and have said hero take the Wand into the Positive Plane where it will be destroyed. Orcus is obviously going to catch onto this and send his minions to try to stop the party every step of the way.
After that, I'd do something similar to the One Ring and have the Wand's permanent destruction significantly weaken Orcus enough that the party actually has a chance against the demon himself. But even if the party succeeds in doing all this and slaying Orcus, it may or may not be a bittersweet victory because that eliminates one of Demogorgon's main rivals, and Kiaransalee would certainly seize the opportunity to take over Thanatos again. You could even have someone like Kiaransalee be the help the party needs for destroying the Wand in the first place.
That’s a really good analysis. I think fighting Orcus is just an insane fight, and I am all about it. Removing the wand of Orcus is just the key to fighting him. With it you’re not winning without it I think you can beat him. I’d bet you need to be fully level 20 with the best possible items available. Yeah getting a good aligned deity to help you is also something very very important.
@@TheSinisterheroes The Wand being a sentient item also helps to spice this up too, because it's going to try to convince the person who has it to not destroy it, and to try to attune to it. The description for it mentions that it can even lie about helping the characters bring down Orcus. So if the players are willing to lean into the corruption angle, it might lead to some interesting conflict of interest.
