The best gunslinger, in my opinion, is a battlemaster with a two level dip into Artificer. You mention it in the video, but that's how i've been running my gunslinger.
You can combine those shots and grid points with ranger spells😂. Hail of thorns gets you a bit of a blunderbus/shotgun spread feel, and ensnaring strike is like having a net gun, I guess. 1 of the best spells for them though would be Zephyr strike, never having to worry about attacks for leaving their vicinity.
The 2 subclasses that stand out the most to me are gloomstalker (extra attack) and swarmkeeper (forced movement) or if you are going very high and mostly ranger horizon walker is crazy good too when you are 11+ in ranger😅.
Choose halfling to re-roll nat 1s to lower misfire chance. Dip 2 levels into artificer to get Repeating Shot infusion to - ignore reloading property from the firearm - have attacks count as magical piercing - save on cost of ammo From here on mix and match further classes/subclasses. Classes you should already have ability scores to multiclass into: Rogue - sneak attack, cunning action etc. + subclass goodies Rangers - favoured foe and hunter's mark + subclass goodies Druid - I don't see much synergy here Monk - you can try going for gunk build Cleric - Emergency healer
I play a tieing gunslinger ( Zariel fiendish option for that that sweet sweet branding smite) and let me say above any class I have played before the damage is insane (to be fair I did roll well for stats so keep that in mind) so we are currently at 6th level before this quest I had a good bit of money and so I bought the bad news in my downtime a long with a very large amount of ammo which meant that the ammunition restrictions were mostly out of the question for a good while, I have a 18 dex (Rolled 17 and took the gunner feat) so that plus proficiency bonus plus archery is a plus nine to hit which is pretty good for sixth level but I would not say is game breaking but it’s still pretty good. It becomes very much so game breaking when with just normal damage I can do 2d12 damage per round twice ( no reload cuz gunner) or if I use my grit points on vicious shot and branding smite that becomes 8d12 + 2d6 damage or on a crit 16d12 + 4d6 damage AND I STILL HAVE AN ATTACK.
Could be a lot of fun combining this wkith blood hunter. Hmm, but what would be the best lvl distribution than? As I also want lvls in artificer and ranger. So many hard choices.
So ,if the gunslinger gets an artificer friend or gets at least 2 dips of level in multiclass, and gets a repeating shot infusion; his action economy gets bonkers from wasteful
Yeah I usually assume the worst in these scenarios because that will apply to most tables I would imagine. If the DM rules them as the same thing, then this is vastly improved as it can be ignored by Gunner or Giff, etc. I just try not to assume that every DM is going to be that generous because I know that isn't the case

I think I would simply prefer to just be allowed to use a gun instead on an arcan archer build multiclass.
