My wife and I just put a deposit down last week on a 2024 Forester Premium that our local dealer has in transit . They are discounting the 24's and selling them at invoice. We added the accessories that we wanted to the 2024 and spec'd out a 2025. The difference in price was a little over $5100.00. I simply can not justify the difference for a new body style, 1 or 2 cu ft of cargo space and a bigger infotainment screen.

I have to say I am not a fan of the electronic controls for basic functions such as temperature, fan, etc. When you are driving, you can adjust the manual controls without taking your eyes off the road. With the electronic display, you have to look. Driving while looking at the screen is very dangerous.

Love my Crosstrek Wilderness but not as happy about towing a trailer when the car has only flat 4-pin wiring, i.e. no trailer brake 7-pin. The Wilderness is rated for 3,500 pounds but the car weighs 3,417 pounds. It's not wise to tow anything more than 2,300 lbs. but even then having a trailer brake option would make things a lot safer. Subaru doesn't offer OEM upgrade to 7-pin which is odd, especially if Subaru customer safety is a priority. Promoting 3,500 pound towing but no trailer brake option -- not good.

I had a 2024 Forester loaner while my Outback was in for service, and there were two things off the bat I did not like. First, when I was on the highway and I was going to change lanes on the right, when I turn my head slightly, it always looked like somebody was at my rear quarter, but what it was was the small window in the back right then made it look like that and that kind of freaked me out every time. I suppose that's something I would get used to over time. The other thing, the wired Android auto, kept disconnecting and it was the most annoying freaking thing. My 2023 Outback touring XT, has some weird connectivity issues with wireless Android auto. Sometimes I have to plug it in to make it work properly. It also sometimes just disconnects itself.

I’m actually surprised that Subaru started taking orders for the ‘25 model year when they opened the order banks for the ‘24’s in the beginning of August.
I custom built ordered mine on August 31st and took delivery on November 16th of last year.
Yes, say what you want, but I ordered the base model and put $4,200 worth of options on it.
Yes, I could have ordered the next trim level up that is the premium, but mine had everything I wanted, minus the moonroof.
Not a big fan of moonroofs.
Mine does everything I need and more.
    I get complements everyday.
If your like me and simplicity with actual knobs and buttons and the best AWD system in the world in a sub $30k SUV, then ‘24’s are the way to go.
My local dealership keeps ordering (when the order banks were opened) the base models, more than any other models, and they sell off the dealer lot like hotcakes.
Only thing I wish my base model could have had was X-Mode.
Was and still curious on to giving it a go and see what it’s all about.

@@thisspotrules3631 Another reason I opted for 2 liter engine on CrossTrek is that in general 4 cylinder 2.5 liter engines are all designed with an inherent flaw. Cylinder bore being that large make oil passages in the block too close to coolant passages. Thus ubiquitous tendency to blow head gasket in those engines. Design is improved for six cylinder 2.5 liter motors ( less stress on head gasket). That's the reason Subaru switched to H6 engine years ago , before improving strength and durability on head gasket on 4 cylinder 2 liter engine...Wife's Toyota C-HR is even heavier, than my base CrossTrek but still uses 2 liter four motor and never feels "underpowered".

I waited a year for the 24 to come out and then the 25 came out but I was waiting because I wanted automatic rear braking as a standard feature in all models which stupidly Subaru didn't do they're too focused on nonsense like electric steering wheel warmers and moonroofs which nobody needs in Florida they're just failure points while we do need a way to lock the car when we do activities like scuba diving and we need automatic rear braking to prevent accidents what do you have to say about that and please talk about the hybrids

If you're looking specifically for a 2024 model, I'd jump on it now. They have already started producing the 2025 so 2024 orders are closed. That means 2024 inventory is going to drop quickly. You have a better chance of a discount while supply is still available.

I had a 2024 Crosstrek Sport with the bigger screen, on screen climate control, wireless charger and wireless Apple CarPlay. I decided the Crosstrek was too small for us for roadtrips so I traded it in for the 2024 Forester Sport which I got for $31k with the Harman Kardon stereo, power liftgate and sunroof. I got it instead of the 2025 Forester because the large screen system in the Crosstrek was laggy and slow and that was after the latest system update. The wireless Apple CarPlay didn’t work 2-3 times out of 10 and the wireless charger is a joke. I like the looks of the 2024 Forester Sport, the front on the 2025 looks like (to me) a 10 year old Ford Explorer front end. Plus, I’m guessing I saved money compared to the 2025. Yes, I plug in my phone now but Apple CarPlay works every time and it gets charged. Also, physical controls for the climate control but besides the slow lag times on the Crosstrek, the digital climate controls weren’t bad.
