    LOL! Just an hour ago I had this happen to me: “Why won’t the car start!!!!????” (even though all the lights came on, so it wasn’t my battery). Turns out my steering wheel was locked because I hurt my knee earlier today so I clung to the steering wheel for dear life when I got into the car. Figured out it was the steering wheel and unlocked it and the car started just fine. Of course, it happened in front of all my friends…. I came home and started watching your video and it was the first thing you mentioned. I sent the video to my friends, “Well, I guess I’m not the only one!”

    I use the PIN feature and lock my key in the car often. I really like this feature. Recently thought of this, but how do you regain access to the vehicle if the battery is dead?
    Found the tail gate part about setting how much to open helpful. Learned something new. Also, I like how my mirrors fold in when I lock the vehicle. Gives me a little peace knowing the vehicle is locked by looking at it.

    • @thisspotrules3631
      @thisspotrules3631 Месяц назад +2

      There's a backup power reserve that holds enough stored power to open locks in case the main starter battery dies. It also holds all your presets ie: radio, drivers seat, etc if the battery dies or is disconnected.

    • @heikemotzek5954

      I have tried and tried, but even though the key is definitely asleep (I have tested in on the outside), when I try and lock it in the car, the door just opens again when I pull the handle, even though I locked the car with the button in the door. There must be a setting I have inadvertently chosen that interferes with this perhaps? Ideas? (2024 Outback)

    • @GaryBlouin
      @GaryBlouin Месяц назад +1

      @@heikemotzek5954 I just went out and did a couple tests. 1) I tried to lock the key in my 2024 Outback without it going to sleep. I locked the door and closed it. The Outback complained and unlocked the door. 2) I put the FOB to sleep, put it in the car and closed the door. It worked. Key is in car and door is locked. 3) I also tried what you wrote, I put key to sleep, placed in car and clicked on the lock button on the door. That worked too.
      Not sure why you need to click the door button to lock it. For my Outback, when I put the key to sleep, it locks all the doors automatically. I don't have to push the lock button on the door. Maybe you're pressing the unlock button by mistake?
      Other thoughts, is this feature only available in certain countries? Is the key FOB battery low? - I wouldn't think so since you have a 2024 Outback too.
      My suggestion - go to the dealership and ask for assistance. Or, if they are a bit far, give them a call but I think visiting in person would be the best case.
      I'm interested in any updates you may have / if it gets resolved and how.

    • @GaryBlouin
      @GaryBlouin Месяц назад +1

      @@heikemotzek5954 Another thought - when I put my key to sleep, I typically have one of the doors open. I usually put it to sleep at the tailgate since I try to hide my key back there.
      By chance, are all your doors closed (or the door your using is closed) when you put the key to sleep? If so, that might be the issue. If you're outside the vehicle, put the key to sleep and then use it to open the door, the key is no longer asleep. The key wakes up when any of the buttons on the key is pressed.
      Just thinking through some scenarios of why it doesn't work for you.

    I have a Base 2023 Forester and I think the physical button that the Forester has for Lane departure makes way more sense. Having a physical climate control knobs as well was one of the reasons I bought that car

    • @thisspotrules3631
      @thisspotrules3631 Месяц назад +1

      I believe even if a cloner can gain access to the inside of your car, the actual fob has to be in proximity to start the engine! It's part of the standard anti theft. Just don't leave your valuables inside if that's your concern? Ever had your glass broken?

    I love the power lift gate feature; I HATE that I can't turn off the key fob control for it. I've come out of the house way too many times since I bought the car in late November to the tailgate wide open, once in the middle of a snowstorm. Now I'm taking my keys out of my pocket as soon as I walk into my house, as I'm sure it's a matter of the button being pressed as I sit or move around - but I'd like to keep the power lift gate functionality, while disabling the remote open capability from the key fob. I found a reference online to an option that exists in the vehicle software that a dealership can access to do this, but in that thread many people indicated they had been told by their dealerships that this wasn't possible. What do you recommend?

    The power liftgate will not open if the engine is running, or if the auxiliary power is still on (You shut off the engine but music is still playing) - you have to open the door before you can open the gate. Rather inconvenient if you're doing a grocery pick-up or have another reason to want to remain in the vehicle but open the gate. Also the lane centering will literally jerk your steering wheel, sometimes causing the car to swerve. My '21 Forester did that to me when there was a widening of the highway for a side road approach. I quickly figured out how to turn that off.

I have found I have to either use the proximity thing to open the front door then I have to set things down and push the unlock button in the front door to open the back. Or take fob out of pocket and push unlock button. Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing these tips! I have one problem with Apple car play & iPhone 15 MAX. Our phones are connected to the Apple care play except one device. My wife's iPhone 15 max pro. I tried all troubleshooting that I could find on RUclips or Apple site, yet we still have an issue with this particular iPhone. when it connect we can hear audio only with no other connection, like maps, etc. Do you have any recommendations? My car is 2020 Legacy Touring XT.

    My 2024 Ascent turn signal stays stuck on after I completed the turn, do I need to bring the car to the dealership as it should still be under warranty, or is there a quick fix? Thank you.

    5:29 my Sienna works the same way, if I just push once the button, it doesn't open the tailgate, I need to hold it some seconds, the bad thing is that the button is next to the "Panic" button 🤣🤣

    I appreciate your videos very much; however , I wish you would say what year/model Subaru you are in. Some models are very different and it is confusing, especially for us mature adults, when computer screens, etc. don’t match up.

    Thanks for the detailed information, although it does feel like there's a lot of stuff that can go wrong. We have a 2017 Outback Premium. No power liftgate, no sunroof, no lane centering, MPI instead of GDI, far fewer touch-screen functions. I wonder if Subaru would build us a new 2017 when the time comes to replace it? 🤔

    Hi Alex, I have a 2023 Forester and I was wondering if you can explain how to reset the Litres per 100kms.

    • @brookeadkins4208
      @brookeadkins4208 Месяц назад

      You need to reset your trip odometer (not sure if that's a different term for you, I'm in the states)
      There should be a small black round button labeled TRIP METER located just below your dash, probably hiding behind your head...lamp...control switch lmao. Hold that button down and it will clear out your current trip which will reset your....kilometers per Litres ?

    I have a 2022 Subaru Ascent Touring. I recently return from a road trip aprx 2,300 miles round-trip trip (IL-CO-IL). When using adaptive cruise control my car felt very jerky, especially going up the hill. Someone in the Subaru suggested to change cruise control setting to ECO mode. By any chance, do you know how to do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    We had a 2018 Forester Touring and the grooves for the lock feature was on top of the handle (never noticed if they were underneath). We now have a 2023 Forester Limited (we couldn't get another Touring last summer without a many month wait) and the grooves are like they are in this video. I find it not as convenient. Why did Subaru make this change to the Forester if they are putting the grooves on top for the Outback?

The dashboard has a more rubbery texture than my last Subaru, and when I tried to clean it with a microfiber cloth, it left a green residue (the cloth was green).
