Buying a New Subaru in 2024 has just CHANGED!

  • The car market has adjusted and gone are the days of paying full MSRP for a new Subaru. In 2023, Subaru still had short supply of vehicle inventory and buyer demand was up. As interest rates went up, buyer demand decreased which caused Subaru inventory to build. Now that Subaru has more inventory, dealers have started discounting cars to move inventory. Subaru has also recently released new special finance rates that are lower than before to help spur up buyer demand.

I was reading the Subarus 2019 through 2024 naturally aspirated engines have the plastic Thermo Control Valves (TCV) that are prone to failure. I heard Subaru may be going back to the tried and true aluminum housing and and old style mechanical thermostat maybe in 2025. With that said, I think I'd wait until the 2025 models are out and see if Subaru had gone back to the old style thermostat system. Was looking at a Crosstrek, but will probably wait.

Most Subarus have a 4% markup. Subtract 4% off msrp should get you close to invoice and what you call holdback. You should be able to get a vehicles $1000 -$2000 below holdback. So less 4% - another 1-2k.

Before you buy know this. Their batteries are A MAJOR PROBLEM. It takes them 3 batteries to figure out that you have a parasitic drain. Mine was hopefully fixed a month ago. Will see. My car only sat a day and died. I also had to get a new radio which only the extended warranty covered. It's a headache on how to keep it clean. 1st it was spray the rag then wipe. Now No windex period. I didn't let the car wash people touch it and it still had to be replaced. Plus both my front side windows needed fixing. It's a 2018 with only 29,000 miles on it. I just drive to work and back now.

@@scooterspoto2047 If you get the newest ones you can pay top dollar and maybe get a turbo engine so you can visit the dealership even more. She said to get a few quotes from other dealers, and she would beat them all. Long story short, I ordered one in February. I got exactly what I wanted. It was delivered in five weeks. Not true. Just use Subaru's VIP program and you will get your vehicle at dealer invoice or possibly (this was true at one time) 2% below dealer invoice. Best subaru finance rate still requires a very good credit rating and short terms. The VIP program requires ordering a car (not taking it off the lot). A dealer can choose to match that program terms though. Dealers are reluctant to talk about the program to buyers who do not already know about it. Same for Alex.
