So the cool thing about this song is that it is a belief that when someone dies they see the happiest moment in their life. This is what this is based on. So his happiest moment with his father that he remembers as he's passing.
I have a challenge for Jay. A song from this same album called "Cancer", i challenge you to listen to it with out shedding a tear. It doesn't have a video but there is a very good lyric video that the very few people who have reacted to it use when reacting to the song. I introduced this song to my son, Gavin, when he was 10 yrs old and he loved it so much that now he's 22 and a drummer in his own band and plays this song at every gig. It makes me happy to watch you have the same enjoyment that he did (and myself) when he first heard this masterpiece. 😍🤘
They say when a loved one is sick and/or dies you'll hear a song - old or new - that speaks to your heart and will always when you hear it. The first time I remember hearing this song, REALLY hearing, was 2012 - 6 years after this song was released. I was the primary caregiver for my Grandfather. At the time I heard this, I was struggling with my other family members, emotionally dealing with my best friend dying, and the physically exhausting aspect of being responsible for another human 24/7. This song spoke to my soul! It will forever be the song that touches my heart and gives me strength. I 100% believe when I randomly hear it, my Pop is letting me know he's watching and will always be my guardian angel. So, through Jay, my Pop is showing me today that he's watching. ❤️

This band and their music saw my daughter through some really tough times as a teen. I honestly credit the fact that she is still here to them. At 14 her ultra uptight (with a bullying problem) school accused her of being a drug addict and devil worshipper because of her taste in music and I was furious because I didn't know the music well but I saw how it kept her going (she never did drugs luckily and doesn't care much for religion). She was desperate to go to their concert, but at 14 she needed an adult with her. I took her, expecting to stand quietly at the back waiting for the end. You ask what their live performances are like ...it. blew. me. away. It was epic. I came out of the gig a fan. They are also really nice guys, mindful that their audience at the time was mostly teen - greeted those that waited after age appropriately, well spoken, no swearing, uplifting talk on being brave enough to be yourself. I was stunned in a good way. Years later on the Killjoys tour, I got the chance to say thank you to Gerard Way (to thank the band) for my daughter making it through her school years. He seemed taken aback and reached over the barrier to hug me and say thanks. But yeah, if you ever get the chance to see them live - do it.
