My bro and I listened to this particular track on repeat driving home one day. When he passed a couple of years later this song took on new meaning. And then later becoming an EMT it took on further meaning. Life is a gift.
MCR was the face of the Early 2000s emo scene. The album Welcome to the Black Parade was released in 2006 and the whole album is great. It's one of the few mainstream modern day concept albums. Singles included the title track, Famous Last Words, I Don't Love You, and Teenagers.
"Welcome to the Black Parade" is MCR's "Bohemian Rhapsody". Even when I had no idea who MCR guys were (I didn't speak english at all when it came out), I still knew this song. Now, knowing a bit more of their discography, this one is still the one song I always recommend to people who'se never heard of MCR. Just like I recomment BR when showcasing Queen to anybody or "Vincent" in case of Don McLean.
My inner emo teenager is screaming with joy right now. This is one of the bands that really formed my love of music in my early teens and still to this day. I'm pretty sure this album/song came out my freshman year of highschool 2006.
Same!! ❤ Seems we're the same age and had a similar path with taste in music. The nostalgia is making my heart swell. Loved those times and the bands that came with it
I will argue that in 100 years it will be remembered as one of the best songs of our lives. And I was about 32 when it dropped... so this isn't coming from a teenage fan. 💯 Its just THAT DANNED GOOD, honestly. 😎
I had family over for Christmas one year back in the 2010's and my son asked me to play some MCR (his favorite band) and one of my nephews looked at me questionably when I was singing along with every song, "you like MCR??" I was like, "Dude, they are the exact same age as me lmao. I was listening to them when you were still in my sisters womb"
@@desrever1138few months ago my whole family were all playing rock band 4 celebrating a birthday we all played 4 players taking turns and my great gramma was singing this song i will NEVER forget it.
I'm a Mother to an Emo and I love MCR. We went and saw them in 2022 after their tour was postponed twice cos of covid. It was the most amazing concert I've been to. Old, middle aged and young uns there. Love MCR. I'm not ok is another belter....
I was so lucky to see them on their reunion tour when they came to Brisbane, and dude, it was INSANE. Would've made little teenage me lose her mind if she knew she was gonna see them years later
I first heard Welcome to the Black Parade on the radio. It was inescapable. MCR was an obsession in high school. I'm Not Okay and Famous Last Words still play in my head from time to time.
His father did not take him to the city to see a "parade". They saw a funeral march with a drummer. This is when his father tells him one day he will be walking in his black parade and he is gone (phantom). His father is giving him advice to be a good person and carry on.
This was, and still is, THAT band. God damn. I wish I can harness in words how I feel about them. I will always be thankful I came across them way back when I needed to hear something like them.
famous last words , helena , im not okay , ghost of you , mama , these are just a handful of great songs by mcr. great video and would love to see you react to more of them
This was one of the last songs that my best friend and I revisited in the months before he got ill and passed away. It's super bittersweet for me. I love this song, though, even though it burns my heart to hear it.
Man that cd is a great concept album. Cancer is a great one that his me in the feels everytime. And 21 pilots remade it so you can check out both. But some other great mcr songs from that album are famous last words and I don’t love you, but they are all great and weave the story. Helena and the ghost of you are great videos too from their first album.
*I think I heard it in high school* Yes you did it came out in 2006. I'm only 23 but I also first heard them in high school. My memory can be amazing sometimes so I know this was the song that got me into the band. Freshman year of high school maybe first semester. In Theater arts which was my last class of the day. I'd play music out loud from my laptop and this girl in my class (Anikah) asked if she could play the song. I liked it so much it launched my love for the band. Hell if it wasn't for her I may never have made all my way into deathcore today
You're around the same age as I am if I remember correctly.. I found this band in 10th grade. This album came out when I was a senior I believe. Lol yeah you probably have heard quite a few of their songs in passing.
For those of you who have only just now clicked on this video. Wendigoon did a full breakdown of the album explaining both the kid and death and how the songs are not only played out of order but how each song corresponds to one or the other. That being either death or the kid with cancer. Back when the album first dropped, nobody really caught on to the theme of the album until years later and then it really grew to fame more so than when it released. At least, that's how I saw it even though I myself am not a fan of MCR. This album in particular had a very hard grip on the planet and there's no way nobody didn't hear a single second of the album in some way shape or form. Anyways, during your next live. You outta check out that wendigoon video I mentioned above. If you don't end up deciding to breakdown the album yourself. It might give you a new perspective on this song in particular. You more than likely heard the album in it's entirety when it dropped. There was no escaping that album. You were for sure in high school or at the end of middle school you aren't much older than me. Class of 2010. Album dropped in 2006.
This came out in 2006, youtube was only a year old at the time and it was very much not standard practice for youtube to be the primary way of releasing music videos yet, this was still in the time when you basically only saw music videos on TV. Any music video before like 2008 is going to have a deceptive upload date where the video/song came out well before what it says on youtube.
1. Eminem - W.T.P. 2. Eminem & Redman - Off the Wall 3. "BDP, Stetsasonic, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Just-Ice, Heavy D, Chuck D - Self Destruction"
i dont know exact year but i do know it came out early 2000's. Gerard Way (lead singer of this group and creator of the comic series Umbrella Academy) is a poet. He wrote this song after 9/11
Once that G-note is hit, my emo phase just returns all in full force like the YT channel Emo's Not Dead. I believe WatchMojo(?) said that 'Welcome to the Black Parade' is essentially the Millennial's Bohemian Rhapsody.
My best friend, my sister and I would sit outside of my house every day after this album dropped and we would just sit there and scream this song at the top of our lungs and then move on about our day. I truly suggest listening to this whole album. Some actual bangers and crazy good lyrics.
Welcome to the most awesome parade😊, L9ved them since 2006 and actually not because this song, I just happened to stumble onto a early one of theres, I will watch everything you do with them, but a tip is to not always go for the most watched, hugs from Sweden.
Cliff i am an old fuck, but this is punk, new punk for sure, but punk none the less. You see it by the musicality. I prefer heavy metal, personal choices, etc. It is punk.
This album is my second favorite of theirs. My favorite album though is Danger Days. The entire concept album, Danger Days is immaculate. Cover to cover. Even the intros, outros and interludes. Not a single mediocre track.
I've had so many people make fun of me because I love MCR. Same people probably bop to cardi b... As a producer and musician for almost two decades I think I can recognize talent.
Gonna keep recommending “King Park” by La Dispute until it happens broooooo. Different from anything I’ve seen you react to, may not love the sound, but the lyrics are legendary storytelling.
so cool to see you doing an mcr reaction! fun fact mcr's rhythm guitarist frank iero, made a song titled "im going to kill the president of the united states of america" and the song is about how he hates america and wants to kill George W. Bush! afterwards he was visited by the fbi and was told that if he ever performed the song live he would be sentenced to 5 years in prison!
not to be contrarian, but This aint my favorite track. MCR's earlier works are much more pleasing in my opinion. I saw them live in '05 had a blast at the show, then this came out, and i stepped away. The EMO era is amazing, please, lets revisit our highschool selves together!
I don't know how you could have been alive at the time and Not heard some part of this song lol so it's to be expected I've been kinda rediscovering them lately, I was an emo kid at the time but I listened to actual emo music so I HATED MCR and Fall Outboy with the passion only a teenager can muster over something so trivial lol
I wouldn't be caught dead saying I was emo at the time tho since I was bullied the shit out of (at times beaten the shit out of) bcs of it and emo being used as a slur so much that I Still 20 years later feel some resistance saying it and being bullied for listening to MCR when I didn't (I was into metal and screamo) and having my subculture misrepresented I did the typical thing of starting to hate it for no other reason
My bro and I listened to this particular track on repeat driving home one day. When he passed a couple of years later this song took on new meaning. And then later becoming an EMT it took on further meaning. Life is a gift.

Famous Last Words got me through some dark shit.
They were so much more than emo imo
MCR are a band that you owe it to yourself to do whole album reactions. They do concept albums and are phenomenal musicians.
🏴💀Emo kids please rise, for the anthem of our people.
Checking in

Wait until you realize that the lead singer went on to make the Umbrella Academy.
And wrote a Spider-man comic
I will argue that in 100 years it will be remembered as one of the best songs of our lives.

The WHOLE album is seriously worth the listen. It really is their Opus given the time, energy, and OCD care they put into every song it shows!!! 🤘😝🤘
I'm a Mother to an Emo and I love MCR. We went and saw them in 2022 after their tour was postponed twice cos of covid. It was the most amazing concert I've been to. Old, middle aged and young uns there. Love MCR. I'm not ok is another belter....
The song is an absolute classic, always makes you feel a way. Videos timeless! One of my favourites for sure 👌
Released in 2006, but you may be thinking about their first hit, “Helena”
I was so lucky to see them on their reunion tour when they came to Brisbane, and dude, it was INSANE. Would've made little teenage me lose her mind if she knew she was gonna see them years later
I already know I'm gonna cry when I see them perform this album in October
I first heard Welcome to the Black Parade on the radio. It was inescapable. MCR was an obsession in high school. I'm Not Okay and Famous Last Words still play in my head from time to time.
I was never an emo kid, or scene or goth but you can't deny yourself great music.
His father did not take him to the city to see a "parade". They saw a funeral march with a drummer. This is when his father tells him one day he will be walking in his black parade and he is gone (phantom). His father is giving him advice to be a good person and carry on.

One of the best track of ALL TIME im not even a fan of rock music
I heard MCR when I was in high school but didn't really appreciate them until a few years ago. They are really one of a kind.
This song is an anthem
My inner emo still loves MCR after all these years ❤
famous last words , helena , im not okay , ghost of you , mama , these are just a handful of great songs by mcr. great video and would love to see you react to more of them
The sharpest live is the most underrated song ever from MCR
hell yeah, the entire ALBUM is worth ur time, id LOVE to see you do a reaction to all of its songs, it has a story/through-line in every song
I’m not even exaggerating when I say this album was HUGE when released
This was one of the last songs that my best friend and I revisited in the months before he got ill and passed away. It's super bittersweet for me. I love this song, though, even though it burns my heart to hear it.
Love this, it brings me back to high school being an Goth skater punk Emo Metalhead Juggalo outcast
“I’m not okay” is my favorite song by them idk why
And yes you may have heard it in high school lol came out in 2004.
Man that cd is a great concept album. Cancer is a great one that his me in the feels everytime. And 21 pilots remade it so you can check out both. Also - the first 4 notes are all that's needed to identify the song - actually, I can usually name THIS tune in 2
2? It only takes one!
@@PeteyyPorker lol fr. most people who grew up with the album will pick up the song off the first note. Which is why it became a tiktok meme.
@@PeteyyPorkerthat damn G note 😬
OH MY GOD THIS IS AN AMAZING TRACK!!!!!
My all time favorites
Their drummer is ridiculously talented and looks like he's still in high school
MCR is awesome xx Welcome to the black parade is one of my favourites xx

I think you should do I'm Not Okay (I Promise), by MCR
another impactful video and possibly something you heard in passing

MCR is the best thing to come out of that genre
It’s Green Day+ Queen
I think he witness the 9-11 and translate his emotion to his music/ craft. Also, is he like the creator of The Umbrella Academy?
My memory 2005😭😭
Gotta get into some Fall Out Boy if you getting into the emo/pop-punk stuff!!! I suggest Grand Theft Autumn-Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy sucks. MCR are legends.
