- Former Baltimore Police Sgt. Ethan Newberg's disgraceful downfall continues as new body camera footage reveals an incident in which the ex-cop made three illegal arrests, and then threatened to arrest entire block full of witnesses. Although they were initially responding to a neighborhood dispute, Newberg and his partner arrested a local resident who was not involved in the altercation almost immediately. When neighbors began to protest, Newberg escalated to arrest two more residents-and threatened to keep going until the whole neighborhood was in handcuffs. Police Accountability Report returns with exclusive footage of Sgt. Newberg's outburst, and what it tells us about the state of policing in Baltimore and around the country.

Looking at the faces of the majority of police at that incident, I would say that they also felt the officer in charge was excessive. Yet they all complied.
Feels like a test to see what people will tolerate. We are losing.
Thank you so much for watching and for this comment! I am so glad you noticed this because it also stood out to me as well! During several videos I watched, I would say roughly 4 incidents where Sgt Newberg was violating the rights of residents he would try to rope another officer into agreeing with him on camera or following his lead and you could see their visible discomfort and yet they did not want to disobey or embarrass or contradict a superior officer. Of course, there were at least three incidents where a particular officer seemed delighted to play along and even add to the lies that were being stated. This is something that really bothers me because it shows that the "Old School" of policing is being passed on and that even if there is better training and better recruiting this can be nullified by the officers who say "Forget everything you learned in the academy this is how we do things in the streets to get the job done." It is this sort of culture that is replicated again and again that undoes the best efforts of "retraining and new recruitment." Oh goodness, I have gone off on a tangent! Thank you so much for your comment and really paying close attention and picking on up on something that really stuck with me as I was watching these body-worn camera videos from Sgt Newberg.- taya Maybe I could use this as the comment of the day?

He faces up to 60 years after a jury found him guilty of racketeering, fraud and robbery charges as a member of the violence-prone street gang with badges, - otherwise known as the Gun Trace Task Force (GTTF).
Using RICO statutes, originally crafted as a way to bust open impenetrable crime syndicates like the Mafia, the feds pursued eight cops who as employees of Baltimore City Police department created a criminal enterprise while working as BPD officers that included robbery and drug dealing.
Any arrests made without body camera footage from the arresting officer , should be thrown out if an excessive use of force complaint is made. Until Prosecutors start charging police this is going to keep happening. Look at Prosecutors .
I have been hearing people talk about the need to have a new elected position. The government has their prosecutor that prosecutes the people for the government. But if that prosecutor decides not to prosecute a cop there's nothing we can do. They have full prosecutorial discretion and if they don't want the cop to get prosecuted they can refuse to prosecute the case and we have no recourse. Therefore maybe we should have a new elected position of a prosecutor for the people. The government has their prosecutor that brings charges against people now we have our own prosecutor that brings charges against the government.

Honesty, it can be a good thing if used properly. You can't expect every cop to have a law degree and when common sense says there is a clear danger or crime afoot, would we want cops to start consulting their law department to see if there is any possible liability there?
I just think it should apply then and there only. No urgency or clear, present danger or malicious intent proven (bruised ego etc. or trying to punish the citizen), it should go out of the window every time. It's cases like this that highlight how our justice system is broken.
What was his criminal record before this event?
that happens in all police departments and all the time.
*YEARS AGO A HOMELESS MAN IN KONA HAWAII, WAS ARRESTED FOR PANHANDLING AND WAS SENT TO PRISON. HIS CASE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FEDERAL SUPREME COURT AND THEY FOUND THAT HIS FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS HAD BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM HIM AND THAT IT WASN'T AGAINST THE LAW TO PANHANDLE*
If an officer ever suggests you "scoot" anything you can claim he spoke gibberish and gave no lawful order.
These are the sorriest types of cops you could possibly encounter
The fact of the matter is that police officer ain't shit with a badge
I’m ASAMED TO HAVE THE MAME ETHAN🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And he's literally shit with it

Ya cuz u no the factory where they make all the police just print em all the same 🙄 smh
@@jonrover6400 yea they were made for the SHORT BUS!!!!
Well he was dismissed from force, arrested, tried, found guilty, and sentenced to 30 months (all suspended except 6 months home detention). He lamented that his 28 years of service was reduced to few videos in a single incident. But then it turns out that there were videos of similar incidents handled the same way by Newberg.
Yes, tough with the white civilians. No danger to be accused of raci........
A whole city block and no good guys with guns.
This is beyond belief. That sergeant is completely out of control. If he is still employed as a cop after this, there is no fixing our broken police system.
You should have more thumbs up, your comment was on point
he was just elected as mayor of NY
There's no fixing it.
They have a big lawsuit.
Not only was he placed into a “dirty, filthy, tiny cage”, but he was placed there with his hands still cuffed behind his back.
Gestapo SS Trooper Newburg

That young man was exercising his first amendment rights and speaking his truth! Thank you for watching! -taya :)
@@therealnews Stop with the "his truth" BS. There can only be one truth.
It is his BELIEF and that alone is a completely valid platform on which to stand.
Furthermore - THIS is why I believe it's important to preface one's statements with "I believe..." because it sets up a context of requiring prosecutors to refute beliefs in court - which are specifically protected. 🤷♂️
Any group is a threat to authority.
Can't have police without a good, healthy sense of ego.
Police cameras and cell phones have accomplished so much and are now indispensable.
If the police camera is turned off or the footage isn't provided, the assumption should immediately be that the police is to blame. Citizen is shot? No camera footage? Policeman automatically found guilty of murder.
@@Rodrifuuu Yep. It should be a felony to turn off your camera when you're on the job.
I don't see that they have changed much at all.
You can't know because before THERE WASN'T CAMERAS.@@jasonshults368
Absolutely! I agree wholeheartedly! Those technological tools are absolutely essential in protecting our rights. thank you for your comment! -taya :)
The cops were the only ones commiting crimes in this situation, and the judge obviously.
"You ain't shit without that badge." is not a threat, it's a fact.
Never tell weak people the truth, they can't handle it.
What the hell is wrong with this guy. He don't own the citizens.
Congress needs to pass a transparency law that would require police to release footage within 48 hours of the incident.
What is your justification for 48 hours?
48 hours? That's enough time to cover this stuff up and alter the video. How about immediately?
This is an excellent proposal! And it certainly would have saved me a 2.5 year fight! Thank you for your comment and for watching! Taya
@@therealnews It also could be not enough time to complete a full and thorough investigation into the incident. 2.5 years now is ridiculous if true.
If a cop has a sexual kink, like S&M, bondage and gets off on hurting people, handcuffing and controlling them, is it a sexual assault?
Ooo! That's an interesting take, actually! Could be hard to prove, though.

The answer is yes but hard to prove.
After watching the video about the arrest of the two guys in the neigbourhood, I have the following two questions:
1) Don't lawyers design the training manuals for the police officers in the US?
2) If every US citizen, starting as early as ten years old, takes some basic law classes all through the high school, and college (if applicable) do you agree there would be less police aggression, becuase everyone knows what/not requires police arrests?
When will 'public servants' actually serve the public?
Yes
My wife was a cop for 14 years. She finally told them to take a long walk off a short pier.
Why did she tell them that? I'm curious to know why.
Your wife was just as much a part of this system of corruption as any of them. Don't tell me your wife lived 18+ years in this country and didn't know what the system does to people. And don't give me that "she's one of the good ones" bullshit. Anyone that would subject someone to a justice system that we all know is corrupt and rigged, whether they're guilty or not, is not doing right. I'm not going to say your wife is a bad person because there's a lot of good people doing wrong things. There's even good gangsters, but your wife did wrong and you know it.

Why didnt she make arrests of the crooked cops she KNEW where braking the law?
It's a real shame that so many weak men decide to become cops because they never learned to stick up for themselves without backup.
You are 100%. Correct
The weak men didn't decide to become cops, they were chosen based upon their limited intellects. The strong men who wanted to become cops were disqualified after they aced their entrance exams. Smart cops question unlawful and outright illegal activities. (Training day was a documentary not a fictional account) Can't have that now can we?
Yep. Exactly. Bullied little boys who grow up then use their badge and and their buddies in blue to exact revenge against others as pay back. I bet they stand in the mirror in their uniforms and and think, “look who’s the big guy now!” 😂
Bullies tend to have followers who support them and are usually weakerminded than the bully. They are all cops now.
It appears that they don’t do so well in the Courts of Public Opinion. Unlike our lame Courts of Law.
Qualified Immunity……Gone!
I see citizen militias protecting other citizens from government employees in the not so distant near future.
Sue for 10mil.
100 mil, minimum
Unfortunately Baltimore doesn’t have any money.
This really pisses me off as when these effing cops get sued… and they should… it’s the tax payers who pick up the tab.
The money comes from the taxpayer.
Sue !. But who gets stuck with the bill ! That comes from the tax's payer ! Police don't care ,it' not coming out of their own pockets in the process breaking down city's caught in the middle ! Time for Qualified Immunity to go ! This ruling brings NO accountability from government!! NONE !
He wasn't given any orders. . . they were already told they weren't needed, they should have left then.
Wll. Could be more the tge eyes
It's time for America to stand up. Hold these Tyrants accountable for their actions. In any way, it takes to make sure the American citizen is heard.
To arrest an entire neighbourhood would mean contacting his station to release the police bus to pick up the people that are arrested.
The culture of policing is deteriorating. Yesterday I received a letter from our local Sheriff asking for my help to keep the community safe by becoming a member of the County Sheriff’s of Colorado. They want $30. And I’ll receive a membership card and a commemorative window decal 😮. This is ridiculous as my taxes have doubled on my house from last year and everyone knows the groceries and gasoline have gone up! Also I’m 71, retired and my husband passed away 2 yrs ago. Ridiculous!
Blame Biden for that hope Trump will get your vote if they dont cheat again
In my county somehow they recently passed something that it’s REQUIRED to make a payment to the “Fire department” but at the bottom it says it goes directly to the police department. I’m not even kidding it even says if you don’t pay it within 30 days after it’s due (they send it like a legitimate utility bill it’s REQUIRED) they’ll list your name and possibly photo in the local paper and the online local news section. No clue when it happened we just bought our first home in august but apparently people aren’t happy but won’t do a thing about it. BUT the FD is fed up bc they use to get more donations and now none and they have the nerve at the bottom of the “bill” for fire and emergency service to put “if you’d like to donate make a separate payment here”. Plan on going to the next tiny town meeting and doubt I’ll get anywhere even though everyone’s upset about it but won’t say anything they’re just paying it and it passed through somehow. Never in my life heard of a bill like a utility required to pay or publicly shamed or lack of emergency services already paid by tax dollars we pay. The issue is nobody stands up and says NO. Enough. If they do it’s such a small amount they do THIS.
I'm sorry about your husband, and hope things get better soon.
By the way I’m sorry about your husband.. can’t imagine. Let’s just hope something changes soon.. it’s out of hand
@@weenfain2321 you need to check your local taes and see if they include fire protection. and you HAVE to file an injuction as in SUE the city and the fire department for daraliction of duty and threts.

Many thanks to you and your team Taya! Your work is so essential to returning to a civil society! These cops must be held accountable EVERYWHERE!
This is the state of policing in America. I have a retired Philly detective of 40 years as a neighbor and he thinks policing is at an all-time low.
