Hit that "like" button under the video if you enjoy skating curbs! Skating during a pandemic feels.. selfish? But curbs are a good way to keep sane, still skateboarding, while keeping it low impact avoiding any situations you rather not be in :)
Same, honestly I didn't use one foreverrrrr. Sometimes I'd just throw my shirt over my nose, until working with a few homies that made me take it more serious ha.
definitely helped me out, living in london most of our curbs are old super crusty ones, but there's a few newer housing developments that have these style curbs that are suitable for this (albeit a little rainbeaten) rub brick worked a charm smoothing them out
Dude your channel is so awesome! You inspired me to start my own youtube channel and it's doing pretty good for only two videos! Your channel should have WAY more subscribers than it does right now!
Best thing to do is find one in an abandoned spot and use parking lot/ curb pant. I can only ever find handicap blue but it's dope. Once dry one good wax job and it's butter. Rough curbs are fun when without chunks. A little tougher to go and tech grinds can be harder but the sound and feeling is awsome
Im confused , what exactly is the goal of the coat or lacquer thing ? Is it only to make the curb look better or to slide better idk ? Also where can i buy it
Totally fine to clear coat on top of wax...and wax again. It’s an endless cycle that’s required to maintain a spot. I wax my local spot before every session.
Ideally you want to clear coat BEFORE waxing. If you wax then add clear coat your clear coat is sitting on top of wax, so then you're grinding down wax that has clear coat vs grinding down wax and then into the clear coat.
Excellent vid. I’m always surprised by how few skaters seem to know the ‘proper’ way to butter up a mint curb. I know dudes who’ve been skating for 20+ years like me, but who don’t seem to ever have tried to get a new ledge or curb to grind. So they’ll just smear tons of wax on some crusty-ass ledge and then be surprised it still doesn’t grind for shit. Or they’ll go through a set of trucks manually grinding down and rubbing the wax into the curb. Since learning about it, I always use the rub-brick and lacquer method, and I actually get triggered when I see someone take out a candle and start waxing without doing the preliminary work, lol.
Haha this is so relatable man! I still have friends that bring huge bars of wax to curbs, ledges, etc.. it's a lot more work in the long run for less return. We have to spread the rub brick & lacquer method to the future generation!
@@ZackDowdy Straight facts. Also, it pays to really not skimp on the elbow grease - I was a little lazy on my last curb and din't rub-brick long enough, so it's still a little rough. Take the time to really grind that shit down properly and you'll end up with a buttery curb that'll have a nice smooth grind.
your videos are sick and i've learned a lot. consider purchasing from and promoting lowe's instead of home depot? i have no stake in it, and you can do your own research, but i think you'll find HD is not aligned with values and world views that i perceive you (and most skaters) to care about.

Slappies save lives! Finally learning them and addicted
Jon Glass Dude!!! That’s why I got this curb going near me.. really need to work on my slappy. I can do 1 of 6 haha
One thing I always overlook when rubbing back concrete or dealing with any type of concrete dust etc is the dust mask lol

Zack Dowdy I guess we only get one set of lungs haha
Dude thank you ! I live in MN and its crusty over here. Definitely grabbing a rub brick to keep in the car
Hell yeah!! I keep one in my trunk at all times.
me too!
You good sir, are doing an amazing service to all the kids who will skate there when school starts
I just realized that picture is a curb block with flames 💨✌🏻 so dope
I am inspired to make a slappy curb by my job so I can skate on my lunch haha. Awesome vid thanks!
Thank you! I didn't want to purchase a rub brick if I'm only going to use it once but I definitely have a brick lying around!
Buttered up my first curb today. Can’t wait for the clear coat to dry!

Water w the rub brick will keep the dust down and help it clean it up easier

a cordless grinder is nice for smoothing curbs out (if one is available that is)
awesome vid also thanks so much for teaching me how to make a slappy curb
Love your vids keep them going don’t give up!

Should you round out the curb or keep it sqaure
Have some Indy 215's on the way i can't wait to smash curbs with!!
How are the 215s doing? I got a set for Christmas and I have a pretty nice groove in em
I've always wondered - can you apply clear coat after waxing? I thought it was done right after rub bricking?

love your videos man keep up the good work
where did you get your rub brick from?
How long does it generally take you to rub brick a spot like that?
Honestly if it's already clean and no sweeping involved probably 3-5 minutes at most.
Curb time!! Thanks for showing love to my shot of Ryan haha!
Such an epic shot man!
I have now started saying "Mash"... screw you Zack Dowdy! :-D
Keep the awesome videos coming!
Love it

Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Thank you for watching :)
Great video do you prefer street or park
Michelle Kavanagh It changes so often, I tend to gravitate towards diy parks that have both!
I didn’t know candles worked as skate wax but good vid
great video my man!
ozzy. dippii Thank you dude! ♥️🤘
bar soap works too
You have to be the only skater to be sponsored by Home Depot ;)
I've said it before I'll take Home Depot sponsorship over ANYTHING! haha

YES. YES. YES!! I'm learning in the last couple weeks. I will not promote Home Depot moving forward.
@@ZackDowdy Good for you. This makes me even more a fan.
Lost me at what’s Gucci
I don't want to get in trouble for destroying city property honestly. I feel like people are taking this way to serious.
