The story about the husband planting a listening device...she needs to bounce if he isnt willing to apologize. He violated not just his wifes privacy but her friends as well then acted like it was no big deal after lying to her face then changing his story and admitting it. Sounds like he has issues so unless she conveniently left out dirty shit shes been doing for him to actually have a reason to listen in on his wifes private moments, she will slowly become miserable over the course of that marriage and then resent him for wasting her time
The facial scar photoshop story is insane. Theyre saying she needs therapy when its the groom and his family that clearly have an issue with how her face looks.

I've seen people come out of left field with some crazy shit when the relationship was fine prior to that. Hell, I've experienced it, ie being the recipient of wild accusations that literally came out of nowhere when everything was fine up until that point. The missing info is very likely on his end. Maybe hes cheating and his actions are projection of guilt. Hell maybe hes stepping out and the person hes cheating with is one of her friends and hes worried shes going to give it up. Or it really could be that he just hid the controlling manipulative part from his wife that whole time and she finally caught on. Maybe he just kind of snapped for lack of a better term and just had to know what they were talking about because hes insecure.

Story 5: I believe that family comes first, so if I had a husband and he pranked my little brother, accidentally breaking something of his that was important, I would do everything in my power to make sure that whatever was broken was paid for. My brothers have been with me nearly my entire life, after all, and family has to stick up for one another.

as someone with a promonent scar, it takes up my entire right lower arm and hand, I will whole heartedly admit that this scar has become part of my identity.... as it represents the darkest moments of my life including being medically confirmed dead 11 separate times.... over a span of 32 surgeries... its a reminder to me to never repeat the same mistakes... if anyone ever wants to alter that in a photo of any kind.. it becomes a photo not of me...

Story 2: what was the husband's end game? I mean what if they had been trash talking him? Then what? He goes distant from her friends? Or her? Now he knows and it only serves to piss him off and he can't call them out because then they will know he did something which only validates why they SHOULD be trash talking him. Last story: the husband is the jerk, dude, spending HOURS without a hearing aid, because you’re LOOKING FOR IT! It’s a nightmare, you think you lost it on the street or somewhere public, and it’s just horrible. As someone who has a relative (my grandfather (who never uses it btw, but still, should use it)) and a teacher (who in fact uses 2) who use hearing aids, I can only imagine the desperation not to find it, only to be broken by someone who thought it “would be fun” to hide it

Recording WITHOUT consent is highly frowned upon, because one moment you could be sharing a secret with your best friend, and the next, that secret gets out to people beyond the friend. Unless the reason for the recording was to make sure the partner is safe, the OP is not the jerk, and the partner IS the jerk for not only poking his nose into personal business not involving him, but thinking that the OP and her friends were talking about him specifically.
It’s actually illegal to record audio without people’s consent. That’s why sometimes you can’t use it as proof in court. “It is illegal for any person to secretly record an oral, telephonic, or electronic communication that other parties to the communication reasonably expect to be private”. The only exceptions are the person being recorded consenting to it or the person recording being autorizes by law to do so. If you record without consent you may have to face jail time, pay a fine or even be sued

I have pretty bad acne, and they wanted to photoshop my acne out and I was like "Uh, no. My acne shows who I am, I may not be able to get rid of it, but that doesn't mean I want it photoshopped out." I can't believe the husband about the hearing aids. I wear them myself and not only are they really expensive and something that my insurance doesn't cover, but I can barely hear at all when I don't have them in and everyone sounds like they are mumbling and I have to ask them to repeat themselves many times. I've also freaked out when I couldn't find my hearing aids for some reason and cannot believe someone would be so insensitive as to hide them from someone who really needs them and say "Oh, it was just a joke!" How about have someone blindfold you, bring you into somewhere you've never been, and leave you groping around and running into things for several hours, see how funny that would be to you.

Absolutely 100% NOT a jerk for calling him out in front of the friends! This was an invasion of THEIR privacy as well, so they had every right to see that his shenanigans were properly addressed. If the recording device was found before the friends arrived so it had not yet invaded their privacy, then I might think otherwise, but as it had a direct effect on them, they deserved to see the outcome.
Last story: hearing aids are NOT for prank purposes! They are a medical device & should be treated as such! I have 2 of them & if anyone tried that on me, I'd sue them for ALL their money! 💰

The first story sounds strangely similar to the story that the op had cancer and was bald. They were sitting on a chair for special people, then a Karen came and screamed at them while saying that her child had a hurt leg or something (the child was ok), punched an old man inside the bus but he was an officer and she was arrested when police came. Girls night in story. NTA. Honestly this is divorce material. What the husband did was violating you and your friends privacy. All cause of what, he's curious or insecure that they'll talk shit? OP. Divorce your husband pronto, chances are either he'll do it again or your friends aren't going to trust you after what happened.
The voice device story:
Relationships is a bond that people say its unbreakable. However its very thin and the only thing keep it together is trust. If he had to put the device in the room it clearly mean he did not trust you and lied about. Honestly if I were you I would take a break from him and think it over. Also you are not a jerk, he invade you and your friends privacy, you have the right to react like this. Plus if you talk to him privatly then tell your friend it may look like your part of it.
I’ve got a scar on my leg, of course, this doesn’t really apply to the wedding situation, but still, photos. I got the scar when I accidentally put glass through my leg in the third grade. It’s small, but, for whatever reason, I’m proud of it. I don’t know why, and proud may be the wrong word, but I don’t have any negative feelings toward it, and if asked about it, I don’t have any reservations about talking. All this to say, it is, 100% *NOT* a jerk move to say you don’t want *your* scar, that *you* are comfortable with being photoshopped out of a photo your in that your scar is visible in.
If you’re uncomfortable with the scar, and you want it photoshopped out, don’t let people say you can’t. If you’re comfortable with it, and you don’t want it being photoshopped, refuse to back down. Take it from someone who not only has scar, but will be getting back surgery in a few months time and will get another scar. It’s your body, and ultimately, it’s *your choice*

Story 1: Not the jerk. The guy was there first with his dog, and it sounded like that was where he needed to be. If she had a physical disability or was pregnant, I could understand wanting to sit... but regardless that wouldn't justify flipping out like she did.
Story 2: Not the jerk. That is a very petty move that to me says he doesn't trust OP.
Story 3: Less confident, though still Not the jerk. It sounds like the wife was unapologetically antagonistic on the daughter-in-law. She overstepped, despite being warned, and has to face the consequence.
Story 4: Not the jerk. While it certainly felt small potatoes based on what was given, they really shouldn't have been so insistant on it. OP said she didn't want to.
Story 5: Not the jerk. Husband pulls the "Just a prank." for something that really isn't a prank. Stealing/Hiding a tool someone needs to function better should never be acceptable. In Story #4 : i say not a jerk because someone said to photoshop ur scar. If ur okay with the way u look like it should be that way. If u dont want to photoshop the scar dont do it, dont let other encourage u into canging ur apperiance. And if u did photoshop other will think u are not comfortable with the scar (or any other features) people will even more encourage u to change ur apperiance (plastic surgery, etc) dont let anybody tell u u are/have a flaw. Remember u are flawless. Although it seems like that the "Family In Law" want it photoshop since it would ruin their Family's apperiance.

OP’s friends shouldn’t respect her husband after that! If he is upset about how bad he looked for planting a listening device, then maybe he, and I know this is a radical idea, not planted a listening device in the first place!
The OP’s wife needed a reality check. She essentially destroyed her relationship with her son and if there is any chance for reconciliation, (years from now,) it will only happen if she makes some serious changes to her own behavior! After all this inasanity that ship may have already sailed, and there’s really no justification to shame their son for not inviting his mom, (OP’s wife,) to see the baby now after charging into the hospital where she was told not to go like some sort of ninja assassin going in for the kill!
A birth is a very stressful event. It’s long, it’s painful and it’s exhausting not too mention the mother is in a very vulnerable exposed position! She has more then enough to worry about! She should have 100% say on who be in the room with them during the birth!

With story 4, it's completely her decision as to whether or not to photoshop her scar. I have a scar from third grade that is hidden by my hairline, but I were to pull my hair back tight, it is visible. But I am totally fine with people seeing it, and if someone would try to tell me to hide it in the biggest day of my life, I would laugh them off as well. It's not her fiancé’s family’s decision, it's hers.

No the husband definitely deserved to be called out publicly for that, that was extremely creepy and if he really doesn’t see the issue with that I feel like she’s gotta go, because is he thinks spying on his wife and other women is “no issue” what else does does he think are “no issue” situations?
