      For the first story, OP had it in writing that management would give him 15% raise after 6 months so in theory when the company was notified of this then offered the 6% he could have bean very mean about it, the $200 an hour is honestly nicer revenge considering once people learn how to use this amazing new tech he won’t need to be paid

    • @keiromultiverse3608
      @keiromultiverse3608 2 года назад +3

      The question was specifically about the first instance of faking the illness. The whole fiasco of the family getting sick after is unrelated fluff to the story. OP's not at fault for them getting sick at the party, but that's not what we're talking about. Please read the title of that post carefully - "Am I the jerk for faking food poisoning to teach my boyfriend a lesson?" No where in the title does it ask about what happened at the party.

      To me if the whole thing is not BS that second part seems fishy as if just added to make the Op be in the right as probably most people would agree that pretending to be sick to prove a point is shitty thing to do, notice also apparently not just the bf but most of his family are a$$holes too according to the Op.

    Story 6: the OP is the jerk here for various reasons: 1) your son will 100% get in trouble just for the fact that the mom is in an unauthorized area. like if you want an item; just ask for it and your son can just look for it in inventory while you walk around in the store. 2) Telling you any information about the order would be a breach in customer privacy and surely you wouldn't like it if a random friend of yours found out about your order right? 3) you obviously should know why your son is mad at you; he almost got in trouble because of your selfishness so you need to make it up to him somehow or he will not let you live it down for a very long time.

    All stories replied to.
    Story 1: NTA and I've heard nightmare work stories where the person tries to get their agreed upon raise and instead they get fired/let go(Contract not renewed). OP did exactly as he should have to force the company to pay OP his fair dues.
    Story 2: So I'm guessing the BF mother was the one who taught him the kitchen hygiene/etiquette. Because with half the dinner party getting E-coli from food poisoning and the mother blaming OP, it's likely she has made the food this way for years and just been stupid lucky. I'm going with NTA because it seems like OP barely dodged getting actually sick.
    Story 3: NTA because if the gender was reversed people would be piling on OP to break it off because "GuY's ShOuLdN't PoLiCe WoMeN's ClOtHiNg", as such it should theoretically be the opposite way as well. So long as the pants aren't ripped at the butt or intentionally made to look incredibly bad I don't see what the problem is, especially if it's just his "lazy" clothing for general use, and not like his work clothing/formal attire.
    Story 4: NTA though OP probably shouldn't have laughed when he explained his dog's name. Laughing probably didn't help.
    Story 5: NTA and the dude is just a player, block him and move on.
    Story 6: WOW, YTA MASSIVELY. I actually worked as a internet order fulfillment person at a certain hardware store, when you grab an item you are removing it from stock, so taking it out of the cart is like taking an already paid for item as someone leaves the store. I mean she literally went into a non-customer area to take the item, she deserves to be banned from the store for life.

    Story 2- she is not a jerk. I worked in catering for a lot of years. I accidently sliced a finger when cutting lettuce, just a few drops of blood but that was 25 iceberg lettuce, already chopped, that had to be binned. Putting a chicken contaminated board away without scrubbing it, then spraying with food safe sanitizer or bleach, which happens in my house. Whoa. One place I worked, had a food poisoning outbreak. I'd only been there a week so wasn't blamed for it. But when questioned I pointed out that I had seen some of the staff just pouring fresh orange juice, into the drinks machine without washing the machine out first, or discarding the old, used stuff. At the time I tried to tell them that they needed to wash it out, I was told there wasn't enough time and as a new hire I should mind my own business. The worst thing was that if there was more than a handful of glasses of juice in the bottom, it wasn't wasn't given an overnight clean. As it was at a very popular theme park type place, the outbreak gave over 300 people food poisoning.

    Yeah that first story is awful. Written consent of the raise but management tries to backpedal. Op is not the jerk. I'm pretty sure they could have taken legal action and did worse to the company than they did in the story. Like honestly, you can't make a deal, with proof of said deal, then back out

    i mean , for the contamination thing, its fine to use the same knife in cooking , assuming your cooking whatever your cutting.
    pork, chicken + unions and radishes are fine, so long your cooking everything.

    Most food borne illnesses take a few days to show up as symptoms. In general it's not what you had the night before that makes you sick but more likely something you had days before that.

    First Story: I think it was a neutral point on the whole thing. What the poster did could be considered an underhanded move, but it was done after new management tried to screw him over by backing out on the original agreement on his raise. In my opinion, this is just karma. Everything the poster did was legal as far as I could tell but management’s side I think violated some form of rules considering how HR reacted when he told them about his situation to finally get that meeting. Dude’s in the clear.

    The socially acceptable thing was to say that she was sick. It also safed her from getting really sick. Ofc she could have told her bf that she wont attend cuz his food is basically poison but lets be honest that wouldnt have gone well. Just sad that she couldnt protect him from getting sick and fired but he seems to be somewhat of an idiot. Either way she isnt the jerk. And argueably he came around so i wouldnt make him out to be a jerk either. The mother is tho
