    Once you spend $3,000 to get 360 wheel horsepower out of the VB, how reliable is that at this point? Will that modded car be able to reach 200,000 MI without having to rebuild it along the way?

    • @lucian7182
      @lucian7182 Год назад +4

      The whole concept of a modded car reaching 200k without major issues Came from NA Hondas. Now some subies do, I had an 08 Wrx that was a turbo away from full bolt ons that I sold at 187k but at that point it needed a rebuild. However this is a unicorn , I honestly hope to get 100-120k out of my 320 whp Sti.

      Good video idea here, but cars aren't made to "survive" that long without a calculated replacement cost of parts. Parts are engineered to have lifespans to continue maintenance (to a reasonable point). With that said, it's a tough question because I would say that the FA motor might be one of the most reliable tunable engine on the market, there are for sure some others at a higher price point. But you aren't pushing limits to drive it forever, and if you are, you are just increasing the maintenance intervals for parts.

    • @joshpinchuk7061
      @joshpinchuk7061 Год назад +2

      @@AutoEnthusiast of course there are maintenance and wear items.. belts pulleys pumps brakes etc but the question is if you boost the HP a nominal amount (to 360 whp) can the stock internals take if for street use.
      In the long run that is. If after 40k miles, you have to rebuild the motor for $10k it's not worth it

      Based on how ive seen the fa24 handle power, it has a much better chance to make it to high mileage than a modded ej25.

      @@giftedcracker I have no idea, but are you comparing 400 crank fa to 500 crank plus on the ej? Then it's not really apples to apples.

    Test drove a 23 wrx. Great, easy to drive, smooth car! Better low/mid end performer and greatest 'power' potential. Perfect daily. But I already have a '19 civic si for a daily. I couldnt do 2 great daylies. First time subaru owner here. No regrets spending few grand for my '20 STI. Subaru certified and 100% stock. Thing that differentiates sti n wrx is the driver/diff controls, the wing and rumble. No regrets. Easy daily too. But I need to give my SI love since I havent driven it in couple months 😅.

    I love how these VB guys on RUclips are trying to talk themselves into that this car is better than previous generations. It’s a turd. Not only do you have to mod it, voiding your warranty, but now you have to spend like $5k+ for aesthetics. I’m done with this platform. Moving to the Germans.

    I find it interesting all this talk about the VB having better gearing rpm range etc but there are almost no videos up doing stock side by side comparisons. I think one person had a vid but nothing to back it up - makes me wonder if they are as bad as the VAs were in stock form. Braking sounds the same, probably same understeer, plain interior, different engine I guess - whats the sale point of the VB to previous VA owners? Engine is better - but I cant find examples of it.

    Im with you 100%. I plan on getting a vb and swapping in a sti driveline and brakes. The fa24 destroys the ej25 in response to mods and reliability under power.

    To me overall the car is just OK. To be fair this is my 1st & probably my last WXR. Coming from a 21 Mustang GT this thing feels way underpowered. I know a lot of guys are modding the VB which I’m sure would make it feel a lot closer to the GT I traded on my WRX, but I don’t have it like that unfortunately. If I could mod it and still keep my warranty in case something catastrophic were to happen I’d be more likely to spend the $3K.
    Another great video and thanks for the honesty.

    imo; until an official STi is available the 2015-2021 is the way to go. the traditional boxer rumble really comes alive with the AWE exhaust. i had the privilege to hear one in person @STi_Alan

      There will not be a sti for this generation. And the "boxer rumble" is not healthy for the engine. Its bad for efficiency, power, and reliability.

      Oh yes, it is a compliment! Many of your videos having this type of discussion are educational. They go into depth and are thoughtful.
      Here is the thing about the VB wrx.. even in your language. You often say “you may be surprised but…”
      I am not sure we are sold on this car yet. Its as if we are trying to convince ourselves that we want it. We are warming up to the idea that its a good car but there is missing the raw attraction to it. The VA seems more attractive even though the VB is a better car. Its this type of video that i find interesting where you surprisingly compare the VB to the STI - the ultimate “raw affordable car”.
      The VB wrx has yet stirred the raw emotions.
