@@billytaylor1697 Traction control and stability control. You hold the button down for about 5 sec and you'll hear 2 beeps. And have 2 lights on the dash. Press and hold brake hard and then push accelerater down fast. Then you should have launch control activated. Use cruise control +- on the steering wheel to adjust launch control rpm.
I dont think ive seen one race on this channel done nicely lol
Это ещё не R а GTi, golf r по быстрее будет.
keep in mind that the Sonata is just a mere N-Line it isn't a full blooded N
if they had an N version how would that look like ? Maybe 400 HP ?
Unfortunately, the Sonata driver has never heard of "pedal to the metal", but Sam has, as he was trying to put his foot through the floor on that poor Slowbaru. 1st to 2nd Sonata had it floored then let off the gas and started cruising while "racing".🤷♂️
each gear its shifting 2K below the redline LOL. and yet it still beat the subie
I don't even get why they let that sonata driver join in the race if he'd be doing that.
Why wasn't the sonata using launch control and shifting early? My sonata N rips my head back w/ launch control also shifts at redline when the pedal is down. This was not fair at all.
Subaru did a great job of updating the WRX's interior....too bad the same cant be said of the exterior.
or drivetrain
GTI for the Win. Interesting is why the Sonata is not getting to redline for its gear shifts?
Sonata would easily walk him if he didn’t short shift
The new WRX is such a joke. Actually, I would say it is only a WRX in name now and nothing more.
Never understand Why Subaru Put cvt in the first place. Whats wrong with dct. And the engine. Its just doesn't give the feeling of been new car.
Congratulations to the GTI driver launching. How does Subaru even sell any cars? Terrible performance, terrible fuel economy and terrible interior and reliability hasn’t been great. Wow
@MQB R 85% of wrx's are sold with the 6mt, which does 0-60 in low 5s and quarter mile in high 13s. That is better performance than the 6mt GTI. It is great in the snow and is a bargain price.
What he said ^^^
@@steve8803 Ok that’s solid performance. Slightly out performers a GTI but still lacking all those other things. I guess for the price can’t complain. Didn’t know it was that cheap damn

How come the Elantra N is so much faster than the Sonata N? Doesn't the Sonata have more Hp and Torque?
That GTI does the 1/4 mile in 13.6 @ 105 mph lol. Fucking ridiculous. That car is making way more power than advertised.
265-270 probably
i think is using tuning box no way ia faster

@@SamCarLegion It's actually a Golf R, he just swapped the badges.
Dsg gearbox gives it that 1/4 mile time not sandbagged hp numbers.
4:30 The shifts there are terrible in the WRX, looks like it's shifting at 4000 RPM? Not even close to redline.
The sonata driver 😂 my god man, is shifting at 5k every time!
Really wish you did this with true enthusiast cars. We’ve gotta stop promoting these automatic/cvt cars as sports cars
Why would you use the CVT WRX for this? It’s a full second slower than the manual one.. Considering 80% of WRX buyers buy the manual. You can’t launch a CVT, and it’s embarrassing seeing it not be out in front against FWD cars. That is why no one buys an automatic WRX. A 2022 WRX manual is faster than a 2022 GTI in a 1/4 miles and that’s facts.
It's not faster. Why are u in denial?
@@operationgetthugs232 Cope. Still ain't touching a GTI with DSG lol
Just bought the GTI myself, I will say the manual isn't as quick lol. It's a riot but no way I could shift fast enough to keep up with the auto. Nice to know I can probably still beat WRXs.
Driver
NO manual is faster than a DCT
That Subaru is an embarrassment
I don’t think the GTI would be near the manual WRX. That CVT box is pitiful and the manual WRX beat the Elantra N from a start last week so the Golf..not so sure.
@@Buck3366 no way a manual WRX would beat a DCT GTI
Being a VW modified owner, love this video.
Love the emotions Sam had after 3rd lost :)
THANK YOU SAM WITH ANOTHER VIDEO. SONATA VS ELANTA N?
Who’s grandpa is driving the sonata?😂 He’s literally short shifting at 5k rpm🤯
Omg that Sonota driver….? Was he smoking something? His driving was atrocious. That Sonata can perform bette than that. Please find another competent driver. He ruined this whole video 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Not a dis but why do people buy the new WRX? It's ugly, slow, heavy and get's bad MPG.
It looks fine. Definitely should be faster, though.
So basically the one thing that we can all take from this is that Subaru is resting on its laurels and the ones mighty has fallen.
Can someone else please drive the Sonata, wtf was that 💀
Sonata driver was sandbagging, short shifting the whole time, new car not broken in yet?
Surprised with the results. I thought for sure the Sonata would take both of them. Shocked with the GTI acceleration! I thought it was the R instead of the GTI. Good test, always love the variety!
i thought the Subaru was gonna win and the Hyundai was gonna come in last
You would be surprised of what the gti can do it’s a great car
@@mk8gteye683he doesn’t know anything about GTI lol , Golf R will gap them the length of 5 London buses lol

But…
Even when not at full throttle he was still pulling on the gti.
I know LC is shit on it, but the sonata properly driven would have demolished both cars in both roll races 100%
CVT transmitions they are so slow be cause they are made for Econime resons , Just race with a manual subaru and looks to the power 💪🏻, and the DCT they are so fast.👌🏻👌🏻
Absolutely pathetic that the WRX is getting smoked by these other cars. Not to mention they cancelled the STI. Subaru has totally lost its way. Shame on them.
you should match up the dct kona n against these instead of the sonata. still cool to see.
Why tho? They've already raced an Elantra N against the GTI.
true. i guess i just want to see the kona smoke them all.
@@atflores85 i mean they did that already the kona lost well against the gti idk how it would stand against the wrx probably better though
They already raced the Kona Against the GTI, the GTI was faster
Subaru screwed up that WRX badly.
Seems like VW's HP is always the wheel HP, while the rest two are axial HP
That, plus superior power to weight ratio
It's the transmission. I haven't driven the MKVII but the MKVII DSG was very quick and that CVT is a joke.
It's 400 lbs lighter + a much quicker DSG. The manual GTi is much slower than the DSG, which leads me to believe the hp is correct but the transmission makes a huge difference.
@@Asiansxsymbol spot on

Nice Impreza turbo, now where is the WRX?
WRX having a CVT is a huge buzz kill.
Nothing wrong with a CVT.
The sonata driver was not flooring it, doing 1/2 throttle, still beat the wrx, and wasn’t too far from, the golf. That sonata was broke in well as well. Sam is busy in the comments defending that owner that he was flooring it when he wasn’t. Sam with your dishonestly, I will consider unsubscribing, because anyone, can see that the sonata wasn’t floored.
The GTI! Wow
Can we get the MK8 GTI vs MK7 GLI
Hyundai and Kia have become what Toyota is supposed to be.
Without the Toyota reliability.
Sam, why is the Sonata changing gears way too early? What’s the point of showing cars racing if Sonata isn’t showing its full potential?
I take the Golf, best car of the three.
Boring.
Weak launches for wrx should be slaying the launch
Sam I really enjoyed this video since I'm considering getting the wrx. Can you do more auto wrx videos vs the honda accord 2.0 older gti or something similar thanks!
Save yourself the pain and don't get anything with a cvt, if you don't want to learn stick that's fine, but the reliability and lack of performance and efficiency are all massive drawbacks of current gen cvts. If you want a fast automatic awd car get a golf r from 2008 or newer
I got out of the SUBARU brand, it's no longer the company it used to be. I ONLY had subaru my whole life, now it's a JOKE.

I just purchased a brand new 22 gti se dct and boy howdy am I glad I did, specially after watching this!
It doesn't look like the sonata used the LC. There is no way the GTI is like 3 sec faster to the 1/4 mile.

There’s a video of a stage 1 gti doing 100km/h-200km/h in 12 seconds, which is pretty mind-blowing
As a former WRX owner, it's shameful seeing this but at the same time I think this is what Subaru wanted. Not a fast sedan but just a somewhat comfortable speedy family car. If you see it that way, it ain't bad lol
No
I have a 2022 and it’s fast and fun. Daily driving isn’t about racing, it’s about having usable torque in the meat of the powerband. With the 6sp manual the WRX is an extremely fun and engaging car to drive and it has a lot of character. A drag race doesn’t tell everything about a car.

The Sonata is super surprising when you’re at high speeds. Can be going 90 and mash it and the car still pulls like crazy. Will never forgive Hyundai for not putting a LSD or AWD in it. I don’t care what their excuse is
I think you might be missing the point of the N line Sonata. It's not intended for tracking. The Sonata has 1 trim level higher, Limited, which goes back to the 1.6 Turbo. The idea behind the N line is really make a car that has no business have this much power but keep it affordable. I think and LSD would kind of ruin the craziness of this cars "performance" as it's skittish personality makes it a blast to try to tame. He was shifting early. I own an n line and from a dig i would expect the gti to win because it has a limited slip differential. In this case it also had summer tires vs all seasons on the n line. The sonata should have taken the gti or been neck in neck in the roll races though.
