Contra Costa County - Las Trampas Wilderness Hike

This hike explores a remarkable wilderness surrounded by suburban communities. One unique feature of this hike are clam shell fossils in compressed rock that are over ten million years old. Majestic Mount Diablo dominates the eastern horizon. Looking west, sea going ships dot San Francisco Bay. Verdant grass & colorful wildflowers dominate the landscape in spring. It all makes for a noteworthy hike.
