    I didn't want to make a video about 2.4 before we got a definitive release schedule from the dealership. We know how 2.1 went with the delays.. and 2.4 was known since March '22. First release date was May '22.. then delayed another 2 months... so.. This video is a little refresher for you guys what to expect with 2.4. :)

      Yes - indeed - SW is a big Problem for VW. … and I think, it was the reason for the change in the management of VW!
      I know it from the work in Continental Automotive … VW want to fast, all the same like TESLA. This leads to the late series release of the whole iD familie!

    Thanks for this explanation! After this I called my Dealer and he was astonished…. (!?)… After I told him, that I talked with VW in WOB … suddenly he gave me a date for the update and battery chance! My feeling is, there will drive a lot of cars up to her ends without any update, due to the reason, that the garages have no time - or are not willing to make this extra work for VW. Beginning with SW2.3 - my dealer is not longer happy if I entered his “shop”…..
    without a little “pressure” - nothing will happen. One time VW WOB wrote me an eMail to convince my Dealer! …

    I've had my ID.4 18 month now and the lack of updates and issues with the software (and also other annoying things) comes with a decision. No more VW ID-cars when my lease period is over!

    Honestly they have to do more, even the leaked stuff for 3.1 is not enough to be competitive in the current landscape, they need:
    - Much better navigation system, with better traffic info and re-routing (Google Maps level), and a good and reliable charging stop route-planner
    - Integration of detailed info on available stalls like on WeCharge app directly in the main navigation app
    - Third party services/apps integration: Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Google Podcast, Pocket Casts, Audible, Easy Park, Plugsurfing, Nextcharge, Calendar integration, video services for stationary entertainment (Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime Video, Apple TV+)
    - A good voice assistant that should be quick to respond (so should work offline) and integrated with the above-mentioned services
    - Settings interface totally rebuilt: the spinning car is absolutely confusing, a simple list with icons should be the right thing to do
    - A deep optimisation to significantly increase performance of the system
    - Intelligent regenerative breaking radar-based
    - Regenerative breaking setting saved after turning off and back on the vehicle
    - ESC off option
    - Granular slider instead of "reduce AC current" option
    - Battery heating based on navigation
    - Car anti-theft system connected with the app that should use the "critical alert" API on iOS
    - Integration of the ID app with Siri on phone to start car pre-conditioning
    - Faster responsiveness when activating climate remotely
    - Internal temperature data shown in the app
    - Futuristic sound when accelerating like Mercedes EQ and BMWs
    - One-click Travel Assist activation
    - Better infotainment UI overall, more intuitive and graphically pleasing, and better "Dashboard screen", more CarPlay-like with dynamic Widgets
    - Remote access to front and rear cameras
    - Digital purchase of e-boost option that increases power with a performance profile similar to Cupra Born e-Boost
    - Possibility to send navigation destination instantly from the phone (trough the share sheet) to the car navigation
    - Car location in the app
    - Car open/close with the phone trough the universal CarKey protocol (might require HW update too)
    - Efficiency improvements to increase range (I'm sure something can be done, efficiency is not that good)

      Thats a proper list you have there!
      Some points are fixed in 2.4 [cold efficiency]
      Quarter of these points are already in 3.0 [so good!]
      Another quarter of these points are being seen in the future VW WeConnect ID app for Id Software 3.1
      Others are just also depended on third parties.. lets say.. lets try to update the cars first. Entertainment side will eventually follow.
      And the points about thrid-party integration some thoughts:
      I believe HereMaps are the current maps and traffic supplier, but TomTom will join the team for trafficinfo [promised for Aero B = MEB = ID.X :D] So 4.0 /w release of Aero B ??
      Voice Assistant Hello ID will be "upgraded" to Cerence Drive 2.0. I believe 3.0 will have this and will feel "more natural"
      In-Car Shop will have things.. maybe e-boost who knows much later. easy money for VW right? ;)
      Amazon Music is available in the In-Car Shop [now or later].. Amazon Alexa is available in Golf 8. So maybe down the line Video too?
      Same for apple music.. it will be APP for the infotainment [saw it, not sure available for customers].. without using carplay. Apple+ down the line? maybe.. maybe not. Netflix/Disney+ would be great.. time will tell tho..
      I think CARIAD knows exactly what the customers want, but just cant deliver yet because there are more important things to fix first in the cars. Its not like Tesla started with adding the media updates as first piority? they used the first few dozen updates making the car better and when that slowed down they added the "fun" bits into the car to keep it fresh for the customer without really adding stuff which makes the car "better". Last few months they are adding great Quality-Of-Life updates, but thats noly possible when you are "done" with the major things of the carr and can spend resource on the many smaller things.
      On a positive note: There are games to play with 3.0.. so they also see the infotainment is important

    Me and you, dear ID.Furkan, have the same car, possibly you since some months earlier than me... will our car be able to park itself or this feature is only available for more recent ID.4 cars?

      You wont be able because you are missing the ultrasonic sensors on the sides and some more additional hardware to handle that manoeuvre 🥲

    Since i didn't get 2.3 OTA after my ID.3 was updated at the dealership, I don't expect this to work after 2.4 as well. Their track record for this kind of stuff is just too bad.
    Getting an pretty much useless update to 2.4, just to hope that 3.0 OTA will work is just stupid. The least thing that customers could expect is that their car will get current updates for once if they had to leave them at the dealership already twice. Not to mention that the update to 2.3 took a whole week...

      To be honest. If they learned what the issue was why some cars just couldnt update to 2.3 through ota and its fixed, as they say, in 2.4. Why wouldnt it work this time? See the positive side because there is lots of catchup to do from VW because 3.1, 3.2 and 4.0 is scheduled this year for factory cars and soonTM after it will be ota’d to older cars. Lots of goodies to come this year. Some known and some yet to be unveiled.

    Which version will have the plug n charge or v2h capability?

      P&C is a softwarehandshake so should come to all cars (right?). V2h could be new hardware and if so MY23 will have it, no clue for older cars. Aka i dont know xD

      ISO 15118-20:2022 (v2l,v2g,v2h), its there, wallboxes will come supporting this iso end of 22/begin 2023 and the prices will drop. Also these are just abit bigger wallboxes then their AC counterparts.

    I thought all 2022 Pro-s for the US now come with software 3.0 ?

      Its even 3.1 for you guys. This is for older Non-NA cars.

    I can FINALLY get 2.4 in October.... :/
    They originally promised 3.0 mid 2022.... This is getting completely ridiculous! The functionality is still not good enough, and the 1st drivers are getting left behind. We were the ones who put a lot of trust into Volkswagen, yet they treat us like garbage... New cars have been delivered with 3.0 for a long time already and they have all sorts of new functionality we don't get (swarm, switching lanes). Awful!

    My car is updated, and is now waiting for 3.0. In 2.4 the Infortainmain has gone Turbo. It´s much faster.

    Well...I could FINALLY go to the VW dealer for this update. They had my car the entire day, I received the new battery (I assume)... however: after checking once I got home I realised it's still running 2.3!! Wtf?? Volkswagen promised version 3.0 this summer (it was in their newsletter). Now it's October and I still have 2.3 😠
    I'm so done with Volkswagen!! Love the car, but Volkswagen and software? Disaster!

      its goes from 0910 (2.3) to 0912 (2.4). it still says 2.3 tho.. lazy devs

      We haven't received any updates at all. They sold it with the idea that there would be updates every 12 weeks and I've had mine almost a year.

    This is why I am trading my vehicle. The infotainment system is horrible. VW NEEDS TO MAINTAIN OTA UPDATES. The car is fine but the software is crap.

      Software makes this car junk
