They don't think they're doing anything special by being a decent person. "Nice guys" think that being nice entitles them to special treatment because they assume that everyone is an asshole like them so you should notice that they're working sooo hard not to be the asshole that they are and should reward that. Ok so im a cosplayer and i was at an arcade one time with my friends, in cosplay, because we were bored. My friends were going to get some food while i waited by a game, and this guy that looked around 16 or 17, walked up to me.
He said he liked my cosplay, and as soon as i said “thank you” he immediately asked for my number.
As anyone would, i saw this as a red flag. I just gave him my instagram, hoping he wouldnt try anything. That was stupid.
Later that night, which was like 11, he messaged me calling me “hot” and “gorgeous”
I told him how old i was, which im not gonna reveal here, but im a _minor_.
He said he was 17, and continued to talk to me that way, calling me “hot”, “sexy”, and “gorgeous”.
I told him i wasnt interested and i have a girlfriend, but he continued to talk to me like that, even *_fetishizing_* our relationship and what we do on dates.
I told him we usually hang out at the mall with friends or go to movies, but he continued to say “i bet you have a lot of fun in there”
I had enough and was getting scared, so i told one of my best friends who isnt scared to stand up for me at any point.
She messaged the creep, calling him out for hitting on minors, and he just defended himself, saying “theres a difference between being polite and hitting on someone”.
She said “its still not okay to talk to her the way you are”
He just called her names, slurs, basically anything rude.
I blocked him before he could send me another message, but i hope i dont have to hear from him again, or any other creep would actually try something on a _minor_.
