I have heard that a good way to filter out the worst people that asks you out is to suggest a reschedule because the suggested date for meeting up wont work for you due to a convienient family event or dentist appointment. If they are interested in you and not looking to get laid and a decent person to boot they most likely wont mind. If they decide to throw a hissy fit you know that you did not miss anything.
On the other hand, it's so fucking obvious. I think I'm a fairly balanced (but flawed) guy, but I'm also pretty busy most days. I don't play mind games. Whenever a girl would suggest it, I'd openly agree to reschedule, but also ask them to just tell me if they aren't interested, so that neither of us waste our time. There are girls who will just waste your time endlessly and reschedule 5 times in a row. Not worth the games. Ironically, this convinced my current girlfriend to give me a shot. It's a combination of being able to play the victim when rejected and what they see in movies. The majority of teen movies centers around the "nice guy" type who has a crush on a girl with a boyfriend/casually dating someone/isn't interested. In those movies, the "nice guy" does things to show off how nice he is, how much more interested in her he is compared to her (usually) jock/jerk of a BF and eventually wins her over, but not before he has some kind of whining melt down. Most of these movies are guys pretending to be nicer than they are to get the girl, but when it doesn't work out in reality, those wannabes end up weeping like a bunch of violent bitch babies.

It's a combination of being able to play the victim when rejected and what they see in movies. The majority of teen movies centers around the "nice guy" type who has a crush on a girl with a boyfriend/casually dating someone/isn't interested.
In those movies, the "nice guy" does things to show off how nice he is, how much more interested in her he is compared to her (usually) jock/jerk of a BF and eventually wins her over, but not before he has some kind of whining melt down.
Most of these movies are guys pretending to be nicer than they are to get the girl, but when it doesn't work out in reality, those wannabes end up weeping like a bunch of violent bitch babies.

Human beings have the need to be accepted by a significant other or just in general. "Nice guys" is referring to people who are trying to be accepted, but when they fail, lash out. Probably in embarrassment or because they want to make themselves feel more significant than the person who rejected them so that they don't feel like a fool.
