  • You can't understand prayer until you properly understand God.
Prayer. It shouldn't be a last ditch effort to get what we want. It should be like oxygen: something we can't live without. Our first concern with prayer should always be the glory of God-His faithfulness and mercy toward us.
Secondly, if our prayers don't lead us to yield to God's will, we haven't really prayed. And finally, we need to be persistent.
If all of our praying consists of "I need..." there is no relationship with God. We're not making room for Him in our lives. We need to learn to just enjoy God without coming to Him with a list of "needs."
So, what is the proper way to pray? Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to pray without being anxious, to pray about everything, and to pray with thankful hearts. God will answer all such prayers with the gift of His peace in our hearts. The proper way to pray is to pour out our hearts to God, being honest and open with God, as He already knows us better than we know ourselves. We are to present our requests to God, keeping in mind that God knows what is best and will not grant a request that is not His will for us. We are to express our love, gratitude, and worship to God in prayer without worrying about having just the right words to say. God is more interested in the content of our hearts than the eloquence of our words.
The closest the Bible comes to giving a "pattern" for prayer is the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. Please understand that the Lord's Prayer is not a prayer we are to memorize and recite to God. It is an example of the things that should go into a prayer-worship, trust in God, requests, confession, and submission. We are to pray for the things the Lord's Prayer talks about, using our own words and "customising" it to our own journey with God. The proper way to pray is to express our hearts to God. Sitting, standing, or kneeling; hands open or closed; eyes opened or closed; in a church, at home, or outside; in the morning or at night-these are all side issues, subject to personal preference, conviction, and appropriateness. God's desire is for prayer to be a real and personal connection between Himself and us.

I pray to God directly all the time. I learned to turn my thoughts out directly to Him. He answers a lot of them, but when He doesn't, I don't blame Him. He is smarter than I am and knows what is best for me. Just recently I had to move more that 1200 miles away from my home of 50+ years to be closer to my children. I missed home so much and was dissatisfied here. But, I prayed to God and He led me to feel better here because He is here too. I love my kids, but I also love to be alone a lot, reading. So, God made sure I would feel at home here. My daughter owns a house that has a M-I-L's apt. I can close the door and it is my own space or I can leave the door open and share things with my daughter. Ain't God great??!!

Great job again, Doc! I Praise the Lord for your man of Faith and great message. I follow Ps 2:12) Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (KJV) I continually throw kisses to the Father for all His Glory and Trust Him to meet all my needs as He knows better than I (although I do make special requests). In addition, thanks for pointing out that it's possible many have fallen away bitter do to unanswered "needs" requests. Blessings for us all! Matt the Cat of Holycat Ministries (in the works).

SALVATION for the unbeliever/sinner for today (the dispensation of the grace of God Almighty) in the Pure, All Truth, and All Authority…KING JAMES BIBLE: Romans 3:24, 25, 26, Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Acts 16:30,31 (Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ). The 1st four chapters of Romans which lead a loss person to justification before the eyes of God Almighty.
To them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, You Have Four Things to look forward too: INDIGNATION, TRIBULATION, ANGUISH, and WRATH upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile. (Romans 2:8,9,).

      What's your point?
It appears you don't think your hearing truth from this teaching.
I read many articles from the sight IP address you posted.
It sounds like a site that focuses on condemnation and uses the Bible to do it.
Not saying what you have posted here and what the site you posted is not true. The
I'm saying there is an apologetic and hermeneutic way of presenting scripture.
The way you and the site you posted comes across legalistic and judgemental. Both come across as you and those who think the way you do. As your righteousness and understanding is above everyone else.
For example, your closing statement." If you want TRUTH ( Holy Scriptures) taught and preached Aright.
      I call that pride.
The Word or as you state ( Holy Scriptures) instruct us by stating Col.4 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Also; Phil. 2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
