Trusting God when the Wells are Dry; Dr Erwin W. Lutzer.....

  • Where do you turn when hardship hits? Do you trust God to see you through those tough times? Abram (Abraham) was in the will of God when famine hit the land. He went to Egypt, told a lie about his wife, and the ramifications are still felt today.
    Isaac, faced with the same situation, stayed where God wanted him. And in the midst of the famine, Isaac harvested a hundredfold that season. God is able to provide for us in the middle of a hardship. But do we trust Him to do so?
    Genesis 12:1-13:4, Genesis 26:1-22, Galatians 3:8

    Thank you, Father for "sending" Dr Erwin my way.
    My older son has a growth in his thyroid area and we fought over if he should undergo an operation. His fear was exceedingly great and even his dad did not approve of it.
    The growth has since become more apparent.
    Father, in your mercy and grace, please provide a solution for this matter.
    In addition to this, we also faced problems in our relations with each other.
    My hubby walked away from the Christian faith and my sons have rejected the gospel.
    Lord, I entrust the salvation of my family and loved ones into your hands. We needed miracles. O Lord, manifest Yourself! Save them all. In Jesus ' strong and precious name, I pray. Amen

    When my husband walked out on our kids & me... first i ran to my parents.. and family.. but they didnt believe in me at the time- they believed my ex husband- because he was good for so long- BUT they loved me and stood with me in divorce- BUT they never thought it was his fault or that he continues to hurt me emotionally and our kids... The ONLY peace i found was when i got REAL and got the bible and read... and wrote and took notes and read more and more scripture- listened to christ centered pastors from all over talk about Gods love for me... I am still doing this daily when i feel down or think about the " world" too much! I am coming to chicago to visit moody- thank you!!!!

      Living in peace can be compared to the petals of a flower unfolding in the morning sunlight. The petals of peace in our lives unfold as we learn more about God. We discover that His character is always faithful. We experience His continual goodness. We read more of His promises (Psalm 100:5; 115:11; Isaiah 26:4). We learn to bask in His overwhelming love for us (Romans 8:38-39). We refuse to allow ever-changing circumstances to determine our level of contentment, relying instead upon the character of God that never changes (James 1:17; Malachi 3:6).

      When we develop a lifestyle of making the Lord our refuge, we begin to live in the peace of God (Psalm 46:1; 62:8). Psalm 91:1 holds the secret to living in the peace of God: “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” That secret place in our hearts is where we go to meet with God. When we choose to live there and hide away under His shadow, staying in constant communion with Him, we can remain peaceful, even when circumstances may not be. When we learn to cry out to Him in times of trouble, we find that His peace really does pass all human understanding (Philippians 4:7).

      First Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” Throughout the Bible we see instructions to encourage one another and verses that are meant to encourage us. Why is encouragement emphasized in the Bible? Primarily because encouragement is necessary to our walk of faith.
      Encouragement from the Bible gives us the will to carry on. It is a glimpse of the bigger picture. It can prevent burn-out. It can save us from believing lies (“sin’s deceitfulness”). Encouragement helps us experience abundant life (see John 10:10).
      Proverbs 16:24 says, “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” God’s Word is full of encouragement. Pleasant words, indeed.

      God gives the gift of knowledge out of His infinite store of knowledge. Psalm 19:2 tells us that God’s creation reveals the Creator’s knowledge: “Night after night [the skies] display knowledge.” The vastness of God’s knowledge and creative power are on display continually and are clearly seen in what He has created, as Paul reminds us in Romans 1:19-20. Not only is God’s knowledge infinite, but it is absolute: “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! / How unsearchable his judgments, / and his paths beyond tracing out!” (Romans 11:33). When God came to earth in the Person of Jesus Christ, He became the embodiment of knowledge: “. . . Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2-3).

    Was Sarah really Abraham's sister?
    Sarah is the first wife of Abraham. But actually she was the half sister of Abraham. Abraham and Sarah were the children of Terah. Abraham was 10 years older than his half sister, Sarah.

    I think Abrams name meant father. He probably was wanting a child but god apparently said leave your family but he took lot with them..when lot finally seperated for soddom and gomorah, then he lifted up. Disobedience can lead to a blockage and many of us have lots in our life. I think Abram believed in the gospel by we realize we sinned and are on our own so we think but this is teaching that god will carry us.

    Is smoking a sin Pastor Lutzer?

    • @santhoshvarghese9330
      @santhoshvarghese9330  Год назад

      The Bible never directly mentions smoking. There are principles, however, that definitely apply to smoking. First, the Bible commands us not to allow our bodies to become "mastered" by anything. "Everything is permissible for me-but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me-but I will not be mastered by anything" (1 Corinthians 6:12). Smoking is undeniably strongly addictive. Later in the same passage we are told, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Smoking is undoubtedly very bad for your health. Smoking has been proven to damage the lungs and the heart.
      Can smoking be considered "beneficial" (1 Corinthians 6:12)? Can it be said that smoking is truly honoring God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:20)? Can a person honestly smoke "for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31)? We believe that the answer to these three questions is a resounding "no." As a result, we believe that smoking is a sin and therefore should not be practiced by followers of Jesus Christ.

    Thank you for presenting yourself as "Pastor Lutzer," or "Dr. Lutzer," by the way. I'm so tired of pastors calling themselves by their first names (e.g. "Pastor Ken"). Using the formal, traditional, respectful title is proper and enhances your credibility.

    • @joan4124
      @joan4124 4 года назад

      Why does it matter? We address Jesus as Jesus. Does not matter as long as you reverence God.

    • @ems3832
      @ems3832 4 года назад

      @@joan4124 We also address Jesus as "Lord," and the disciples referred to Him many times as "Master." These titles occur over 700 times in the New Testament, by the way. Part of sincere reverence also involves how we address each other and others' positions (e.g. referring to your physician as "Dr.," a police officer as "Officer," a teacher as "Mr./Ms./Mrs." a judge as "Your Honor," etc.) It's just simple common sense and respect, 101. If it's not broken, don't fix it.
