Honestly out of all these teams, at the time, not sure he could have or would have gotten 2 Cups with either of the other teams. Think he found the right team eventually, even if it did take a few tries.

Zucker's first game with the Pens was against the Lightning... As a Bolt fan, living in MN, I got to see Zucker play and knew he was missing SOMETHING. Freddie wasn't back-up in Anaheim, he started as one in 13/14, but even in that year, he has most play off appearances out of three Anaheim goalies at the time - him, Hiller (who overshadowed Giguere few years before that, so not a weak competition) and very young Gibson. In 14/15 and 15/16 seasons, Freedie was number one goalie and Gibson was mostly his back up - even though they played similar amount of games in 15/16 regular season, Freddie was still first choice for the play-offs. And his record in that three years in Anaheim was pretty good. Too bad they didn't manage to finish Chicago in 2015 conference finals, they were 3:2 up in that series and then lost game six and home game seven.

Everyone gets a Stanley Cup! Boston gets a Stanley Cup! Pittsburgh gets a Stanley Cup. Ermmm...sorry Toronto, we seem to be out of Cups.

If you're wondering why that is, take look at the Leafs playoff history. Burke is without a doubt the worst GM the Leafs have ever had in their entire history. His only cup he took over a team with the core it needed and made enough ok trades to help them win a cup. He's never been a good GM. Thank god he's gone. The Leafs may be struggling with the last few issues they have but so did the pens.

Joe R the pens had back to back cups while the leafs had back to back to back first round exit

@@billk516 actually the Penguins first of the back to back the Leafs had their first season where they tore down their franchise. They finished last that season. Second season they made the playoffs when they definitely weren't expected to make it.
Penguins were already a Cup contending team before the trade. Both teams were in different positions.

Freddy was not a backup. Him and Gibby split time because they were both that good.

He split time but Gibson was doing better and they eventually traded him bc they knew that Gibson would be the starter, also he’s younger
