      That is so true😊 I didn’t even listen to them in 70s- but I liked them- now I find myself drawn back - just the other week i finally listened to music from big pink-
      I’m 64- look what I was missing/ but I saw all I cud--

    This was recorded two days before I was born! This is such an amazing performance and recording! Richard is one of my favorite singers and The Band is my all time favorite group!!! Thanks so much for sharing this!!!!

      And about 3 months before he died.
      I visited the hotel in Winter Park while on a family vacation, to pay my respects. Almost went to Stratford to visit his gravesite...but came down sick and decided to go another time. But I will.

    In case anyone is wondering the building the club was in still exists. It’s at 1411 Route 212 between Saugerties and Woodstock. Looks like it was a restaurant up until 2018 when it abruptly closed. Not sure when The Getaway stopped operating, (probably in the late 80s). I’ve driven by this dozens of time and had no idea, still so many rock n’ roll ghosts in the area! It’s just down the way from Bowie’s mountain home…

    What kind of piano was used in this?

      It’s sounds like a Yamaha CP70 or CP80. They were small electric grand pianos from the 1970s that used real piano strings rather than metal reeds like other electric pianos of that time did.
