Thanks for posting this. I've loved this song for nearly a half-century and I've always believed it was Richard's song; something of an autobiography. It's fitting that it be presented with his photos. Thanks again.
Libby. I am so sorry for your loss. Richard Manuel was one of the most talented musicians ever, and it still saddens me when I think of how he ended his life. As far as I am concerned, I think Robbie Robertson played a major role. Due to your relationship with Levon, you know what really went on among the members of the Band. Only Robbie Robertson garnered riches for songwriting and publishing royalties, by his design in my opinion. A master manipulater.
My fathers favorite band .he played it on the garage stereo when i was growing up.i started drumming because of levon and queen .when i heard mr manuel sing the shape im in i fel in love with the namd and always tried to sing and drum like richard and levon .rip my friends play the awesome music up high .
He is buried with a modest headstone on the edge of a service road in a cemetery in Strathford Ontario. Also had the luck of meeting Garth Hudson as well he signed my brown album (the band)
he's buried about 8-9 feet away from my old best friend. it's called Stratford; Ontario I went to the funeral service for Richard. talked to Levon and Garth. take care friend!
I live in Stratford. It took me two tries to find his headstone because I was expecting it to be larger and upright. The plaque shown at the end of this video is on a city bench beside the Avon River in town. I think there is also a star on a sidewalk but I haven't spotted it yet.
@@PaulaJoW yeah; I met Richard a few times and Levon; Rick Danko. I'm retired or on a long hiatus from the entertainment world. it was a thrill to have played and I'm very grateful I made it through - peace!! 🎸 Richards headstone is around 10 metres from my old best friend.
I wondered the same thing. Did they not like the song. -One of my Band favorites. Or Richard's vocal - maybe they are tone deaf., or the photos - maybe they're blind
Not really sure but this man was just incredible to watch live along with the rest of the band Richard could flat out sing And when he sang you would feel it It’s a gift very few have
@@danm3213 WTF????? First saw band playing with Dylan in ^65 and a dozen times thereafter, including Watkins Glen. Along with numerous friends. We never have voted for a Dem. You are a moron and a total jerk to try to insert politics here. Soros paying you to be a troll? Get lost and let us enjoy Richard.
A delicate beauty. Richard at his best. Levon joining on the final verse is almost too much to bear.
Richard Rick and Levon each with their own killer voice. 🔥 thank you for your music.
God , I love this song ..... Raw beauty and emotion . Richard certainly had a gift and he shared it with us with so much heart .....

In my opinion, the best singer of The Band
One of my all-time favorite songs by an extraordinary, gifted man.🙏🏽
For what it is worth, I agree.

Yes the 60's were a great year!
I loved his voice, also instrumentally versatile.
Rest In Peace brother Richard.
Best americana band ever
Actually, Canadiana/Americana. All but Levon are Canadian.

Best Canadiana Band Ever!!!
This performance is fueled by two things: his incomparable voice and the psychic pain that plagued him.
I can't cry no more
Noone then nor now has this sense of emotion or lyrical phrasing. Sonny T
