I so badly wish i could meet other people who love Richard Manuel as much as me. Tears Of Rage is what first pierced my heart, Moon Struck One solidified my opinion that Manuel is the greatest of all time, but that song sketch of Twilight where it's just Richard solo on piano has literally made me accept my own mortality. Death may come, cause I've heard Richard Manuel sing Twilight.
Wayne Fouche' The late great Richard Manuel. The Band my favourite group of all time. Richard my favourite Band singer. The man with the heart breaking voice. Now Robbie has gone to join him and the others. Only Garth still going strong.
~ He sang a couple but Martin Scorsese was so enamored with Robbie Robertson, Manuel and Garth Hudson got next to no screen time. Entertaining movie and great concert, but _crap_ camerawork.
When Rick sang "I shall be released" at Richard memorial, he sounded like Richard, not sure because he did deliberately or because he was so broken up.
Everyone always said in the end that Richard Manuel had demons, but anyone with common sense would know the stress of getting into show business (this is 1960s we’re talking about). He was a sensitive soul who got hooked on hard drugs, and once people started dropping, he couldn’t handle it all, especially after The Band ended up at a low point where it just wasn’t the same since the The Last Waltz.
@@richiebeans129 It is true that he was broken up when The Band broke up, but it was his alcoholism that made it hard for him to cope. Alcoholism and addictions are progressive, most likely his disease would have progressed even if The Band had stayed together. As it was there were several rough going when they were together. Robbie was always worried about him, Rick although his good friend, got very exsaparated one time after the went to visit him, and he was in extremely bad shape, shaking all over, very wired, he was doing a lot of cocaine trying to get off heroin. Eventually the cocaine binges gave him the DT, Robbie, Levon and Rick went to visit him, and Robbie wrote in his book, seeing Richard in that shape brought tears to his eyes. Before that he had not been able to show up for meetings and rehearsals, Rick and Robbie went to visit him, and they were trying to impress on him he was running out of excuses. As they left Robbie said if we can't come up with songs, we can always write a book of excuses, Rick answered "Yeh, we have 2 chapters already". Robbie wrote in his book how ill equipted they were to deal with that kind of addiction, according to Robbie, we didn't know much about addiction, and since all of us were doing some kind of drugs we were in no position to help Richard. Robbie and Garth however did not do heroin, they other 3 did.
It's a live cover version of the James Griffin/Robb Royer song 'She Knows' that was adapted and included on The Band album "High On The Hog" (1996). This was one of Richard Manuel's last recordings which was supposedly recorded on January 19, 1986. He died on March 4, 1986. Several other live performances of Richard singing this song are available: "Live At The Lonestar, NYC. 1985" (recorded in January 1985), "Live At The Horseman Saloon" (recorded March 22, 1985), "Whispering Pines: Live at the Getaway 1985" (recorded October 12, 1985) and "Live At O'Tooles Tavern" (recorded December 13, 1985).
One of the great all-time singers ... Richard Manuel.
Three terrific singers in The Band! I saw them at the Last Waltz in 76

I love him too😊
Same here
I’m with you. His voice does something to me that no others do
came here just to silently nod
I'M WITH YA!
Van Morrison insisted Richard was THE VOICE of The Band.
His Ray Charles covers were the reason he initially got in the Hawks.
Nice work separating out the vocal stems. I enjoyed the video.
✨. Miss you Richard..you are loved and missed more than you know..hope you found peace 💔☮️🌅
That group of lads together were bordering on ridiculous. Sensational.
Amazing vocalist. The snippet from tears of rage is so good
wonderful to hear only the voices stripped bare...the soul cries
Sad day today the passing of Robbie Robertson RIP Robbie
I’m having a moment, completely transported. Thanks to whoever did this compilation, brilliant.
I could listen to just RICHARD MANUEL'S vocal all day and night.it's soothing and soulful,R.I.P,Richard.

Garth is in a nursing home.
Oh dear Patricia. That sounds bad. Do you know the reason?@@patriciajohnson3017
@@waynefouche2929 well he is 85 years old
“Tears of Rage” genuinely might be _the single Greatest Vocal Performance ever Recorded._
Also, thank you so much for uploading this.
Thank you Bob
Voice plus great heart. Thank you.
3 amazing unique voices in The Band
Took his own life they say. Left a mark on me and the suit he wears on that day.
Thanks for putting this together. I watched it because Robbie R. died today. What magic brought those guys together? !
Well done
One of the greatest soul singers ever....Katie's Been Gone....
*TEARS OF RAGE.*
Katie’s been gone
I often find myself singing Katie’s Been Gone. Love that song!
Priceless. Thank you!
Always loved the band especially Richard sublime musicians
LEGEND.
8 bottles of Grand Marnier a day will take you to some dark places. He was 32 at The Last Waltz but looked 60.
Richard was THE lead singer for the first 2 albums but the drinking took it's toll on his awesome, powerful voice. Thanks for a great video.
@@arlenemiracola3465 Not to diminish Richard's voice, but I love Rick Danko's voice, Levon Helm's as well, but Danko is my favorite.
What a great vocalist. Rip Richard.
Was one the luckiest fans to see him at the lonestar cafe in 85. Just before he died...
This is really cool. Thank you.
This is amazing.
Thanks
This is just fantastic 😍😍😍😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Jesus this breaks me up inside
His songs were sad and deep.I was mad that he didn't have a featured song at The Last Waltz
“The Shape I’m In” is right in the video. He also leads off “Tura Lura Lura.”
He also sang the second verse in i shall be released
~ He sang a couple but Martin Scorsese was so enamored with Robbie Robertson, Manuel and Garth Hudson got next to no screen time.
Entertaining movie and great concert, but _crap_ camerawork.
listening to the full thing made me think there's a good reason Georgia On My Mind wasn't included. It just wasn't a good night for Richard. @@5jerry1
@@5jerry1 He is on camer singing "The Shape I'm in", and also in several clips of audio. He was not in great shape.
orange juice blues ( blues for breakfast) I listen and listen again...
Richard Manuel falsetto was a game changer
his voice was big factor
many respest for him
The greatest white vocalist of all time. Still underrated.
powerful
The Best !!
That dude is AWESOME
The Greatest American Rock Band was 4/5th CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is incredible
Damn once “the shape I’m in” came on I had to go to the real thing a ramble.
My favorite song to play acoustically by The Band!
Sweet.
Just So Sad 😢
This is almost sad to listen that at the end of his life in 85, it was rick danko who was doing the falsetto on i shall be released ...
When Rick sang "I shall be released" at Richard memorial, he sounded like Richard, not sure because he did deliberately or because he was so broken up.
Software that isolates vocals - interesting.
Rocking chair Richard
❤
Was he like"Chef" from Apocolypse Now? A little high strung? Either way, what a singer.

did he not sing the lead vocal on i shall be released? or did Rick do it and Richard joined in the chorus?
How sad. All that talent.
Wow ..what's that last track? !
