- I FINALLY built my new PC and decided the first video rendered on it needed to be something more interesting than just a normal build video.
Decided to take a stab an elevator to the overpass near Finch Farm. Spoiler: I don't fall to my death.

The whole heights thing about having the urge to jump off? I know exactly what you mean! I have the same feelings, and no, i'm not suicidal either. When i'm up high it's like gravity is saying "come down..come down! " Lol
I also imagine jumping. It is never consciously jumping, just like... I imagine that I lose control of myself and jump.

starting at 10:50 Davey starts to make subtle hints that he's been kidnapped by a psychopath who kills a cuts people up and he needs help. Listen to it with your eyes closed. You can tell its layered twice... The first is if the serial killer hears what he's saying, it sounds like he has the syndrome where you're in love with your captor. And the layer of subtle hints below that, he's screaming for help.

Dude, I don't have the time to get creative in Fallout 4 anymore, so I'm honestly really glad you can so I can live vicariously through you. This was actually really creative and fun to watch.

I bought Fallout 4 early this August and as everyone else I wondered on what on earth I should build in my settlements. Luckily I came across your channel and it's really helped me for sure. Awesome videos and you've earned another sub my friend! ✌
If you have Wasteland Workshop, make a death pit with the spike traps. And then just shove settlers in it.
I'm impressed you managed for so long with such an ancient machine!

Love everything you do, I watch a lot of streams for fallout and I always tell them to come check you out for tips on building.
This elevator plan is really great in terms of aesthetics. Great job! Gives me so many ideas to improve my version of this. I guess the only downside is that it probably does raise your build meter quite a lot, if you're not using cheats to go around that. :-(
Davey, I enjoy hearing you get frustrated with the game, keeps my own building headaches relatable. Don't edit that stuff out too much. Also its just good fun hearing you swear from time to time.

My Jake got knocked into the smelter during the fracas. It was my fourth try and the first time I made it to a standoff point and I couldn't be bothered to give it a fifth go so his parents got the "I'm so sorry. There was nothing I could do. Can I keep this sword?"

It actually does have a 15 minute boot up, probably because of Windows Xp and the general shittyness of the PC.
I'm impressed - like me I imagine you're quite fond of indie games. More out of necessity - but they're awesome AF.

Yeah. It's more of a decoration nowadays. I went and got an Xbox one last year and that's been doing me well. It has a few frustrating bugs sometimes, but I'm happy with it.

Ha, you're talking about your anxiety of heights. Have you played Dying Light? When you climb those huge antenna and 'almost' miss a jump when you're about halfway up, oh man, I feel my bladder cramping together...

In Grey garden I coaxed my settlers up to my penthouse with a BIG staircase , Then I took it away and built the elevator system.. MUHaaaaaaaaaa...

Suggestion for NPCs when recording: assign them all to their own guard posts. They won't move around if they don't have multiples to patrol amongst. ;)
Good news on your PC and the recording/editing setup. I have been thinking about an Egato (sp?) as I don't currently record anything.

I love this build and Idea I may have to makeup some sort of elevator up there myself to play with that extra space although I themed my finch farm to be more on the poor side so it may be out of place xD. Also congrats on your new pc I hope you like it. Also don't you find building in fallout really frustrating maybe its because I'm used to sims and the building engine in that its like going from a pixel art program to a vector one XD
I have the same feelings about heights as well. If I'm leaning over the edge on any game like Fallout or GTA my legs suddenly get tingles and twitchy and I'm overcome with a strong feeling to jump.

Hi Davey, first of all awesome video :) As someone suggested in the comments, try the glass windows from the greenhouse parts to make a glass elevator, it might help with the monotony!
Also (and this is for anyone reading), I've been trying to build up spectacle island and I just don't know what to do with the house. I wanted to stick a mini-vault on top and surround it with walls so that it looked like a fixed house with a very nice inside, since I want this to be my character's end game quality house. I've been unable to pillar glitch everything properly and its starting to annoy me. Does anyone have a way of making it work? Or some better idea for that destroyed house?
It'd be cool if the shacks that you might add to the side of the elevator require you to stop at different levels on the elevator (i.e. instead of going from level 1 straight to level 4 like you usually have to, you make a little walkway to a shack on level 3 or something). That way you can mix the textures while adding housing. I don't know if that's what you meant or if that even made any sense but I hope it helped.

A good way to fix the problem with the warehouse wall snapping is to just let it snap at an odd angle & then just press the rotate button, that usually works for me at least
-Spent 3 days building my proudest settlement at Finch Farm.
-Celebrate my success by turning youtube on and seeing what others have done at Finch Farm.
-RUclips spams me with settlements built on the overpass.
-Stares at screen wondering why I didn’t even consider trying to get up there.

That jump for joy at 22:00 is me after building a tiny shack that doesn't look awful. You are incredible Davey! Apologies if you've already gone over this in another video, but do you think you'll be adding any settlement mods now you're on PC? They're not at all needed, shown clearly by your builds, but I've found they don't mess around with any of the glitches (actually they just give you more options) and I would love to see what you could do with infinite new assets at your disposal... Keep it up anyway!
there is now a mod for the vault that gives you elevators so you may want to take a look if you want to use them.
I feel ya on the height thing. I recently noticed that when I am building narrow walkways or scaffolding in Fallout and I'm over 3 floors high I start to get a bit more anxious and worried about falling, even though it's a game and I can't personally be hurt. I guess that's why phobias are considered irrational fears. :)

That fear/desire of jumping is called "The Call of The Void"
My Finch Farms was finished way before all the DLC so no elevators for me. I walled in the whole ground level and made it defense and farm. Up top on the overpass is living space for each settler plus a nice cozy place for my character. There is a platform hanging under the bridge with all my generators.
Been trying to put an elevator in exactly the same place but for some reason it will not let me place it anywhere

I made a huge tower in the Slog, complete with a lift/elevator that my settlers can't use.
It was my first time using an elevator in one of my settlements and had no idea that settlers couldn't them, which was a pain in the arse as I then had to build a huge f*cking staircase.

Same here bro, I still havent been able to build stairs level to the overpass coming off the elevator. Such a pain in the ass.
I managed to get on both levels on the bridge but God was it a pain in the ass. It's still not perfect but I'm doing some renovations. I'm making it a city where the higher up your home is the more higher class you are, sort of on the line of diamond city. Ground level is farmers, middle level os the market place and top level is for the richer people, but because the NPCs are so static they may not be able to get up to their houses
+DragonMaiden77 assign them to the beds and they will occasionally spawn there.
+Erich Salvesen I'll have to try that. I used to assign them to the beds but they never stayed there and it would be unoccupied again.
the answer to this is getting the freefall legs. You take no damage from falling if you equip both pieces of armor
Re: Jake not earning his keep... About the only job I was ever able to successfully assign to Jake was guard. He ignored any other job assignments.
What would you recommend building on the actual highway.

probably new vegas for the actual game; but Fallout 4 for the obvious reason of being the game that launched the channel.

Funny story- whenever I go into Sagus Ironworks to do that quest my companions always attack him. I cannot bring Codsworth to Finch Farm ever, because he attacks on sight.

One of the additions in Nuka World should be another couple of barn/warehouse tab structures. One in a cinder block/grey brick variety, and then a clean wood variation.
Also, it is good to know 2 four floor elevators is just about right to reach the top of the bridge.

hey um what mods do you use to build cause ive been watching your recent videos and i tried rebuilding the sanctary like you did and replace the floors and roofs of the houses so barely any light comes in
He uses no mods. He's on PS4. So this is all rug glitches and such. View his old videos on tutorials on how to do these.
Is there more than two floor elevators?
I worked on an elevator there the week it came out, and just ended up intensely disappointed that settlers don't use them.
Literally just did this today. Used the mod Place Anywhere to help with the lineup and only had to use one 4 story and one 3 story elevator to get it done.
can You do a Summerville place build or maybe a sunshine tidings co-op build? (I know you wont do settlements with npc bodies that always stay

You could use the greenhouse pieces to make a glass elevator :)
I've used flat greenhouse roof pieces as floors off my elevator to my mezznine roof greenhouse... lol, doubt we'll see vertigo riddled Davey trying that... aww, poor luv XD
I rather like your smaller, almost minimalist builds. To me, they are more believable in the setting.
Are you using your controller on PC? Your camera pan movements seems smooth (controller analog like) and from comparing, your object rotations seem more controlled. I always find PC MB1 and MB2 rotates the objects a lot faster than controller, and moving the player is better for finite rotation.

you need to finish the dlc quests first.
Dave, are you going to play FO4 on your new PC, or just use it for rendering? I think you'd get better gameplay / higher res / etc. playing on the new badass PC. But I havent played it on PS4 so I can't really say.
The new computer sounds baller, are you thinking of getting a PC version of fallout4 to work with mods?
Video quality is great. Noticeably better than the 720p PS4 recordings. It's not 60fps though. Must have still rendered at 30. Not that it matters since Fallout 4 is locked to 30 on console, it won't look any different recorded and rendered at 60.
have you considered putting on a pair of acrobat legs so you don't have to worry about falling to your death while building in high spots?
Are some of the items you're using mods? Or is it all from the dlc? Cause if it's mods I have not found any of the ones you're using. Like the warehouse pieces or the sloped floors? Also not sure if it's different for Xbox players...?

Hey Davey, can you do some hangmans ally stuff? it's a hard place to build in expecially without mods (I'm on ps4). Currently I'm trying to make the place into a scumy drug infested raider hangout with multiple levels and tons of neon signs and shops.... its umm kinda working but I'd love to see how you would handle the constants.
Aw man, now I need to redo my elevator at Finch Farm because in comparison it looks rubbish. I've not finished building on the overpass but have a couple defence posts up there, Jake regularly falls from the overpass but so far he's always got back up (his mother just tends to get stuck on the roof of their cabin), also, if you assign him to security/defence then he actually does work (unlike the farming). I like the "top hat" roof piece too but the barn version rather than the warehouse (but I prefer the barn aesthetic in general).
why you dont use 2x 4 stages elevator?

Your new pc sounds like mine slightly. I have a cube case with X99 motherboard and 16gb of memory. Not sure why so many people stop at 16 though.
Finch Farm is unhappy and no longer affiliated with you!! You failed to protect them while in the middle of a fire fight with super mutants. Oh My...........I suppose Gravy will fine me.

to be honest I was just an asshole trying to figure out the elevator. but I finished it half way through the video. wasn't nearly as hard as I was making it out to be. still gotta touch up the details though. and Finish the missle defense system at the top. thanks though for the video. helped get my ass to do it do it finally
How do you move objects away whilst not moving?
Hold X/A whilst the object is selected, and then you can move the object around with left stick, without moving your character.

Use concrete or warehouse concrete floors to make stuff look perfect without floating
the rug glitch works with everything....EXCEPT the new shops. I have been doing the rug glitch pretty easy with everything, but I just can't glitch the new shops that came with the 1.7 update on Xbone
The settlers wont use the elevators but they'll teleport up to the top.
i am mostly scared of someone pushing me off a building when i am around people when am like in the mountains when there hikers

Sorry did you get a cat and kept saying it in Italian just to be quirky or something or is this like some sort of computer? (I play Ps4 and don't know anything about PCs)
