So please correct me where I’m wrong, but it appears the only reason to remove the screen completely is to free up both hands ? Otherwise it doesn’t strike me as a nessarary step
The cap on the home button flex cable on my phone missing as well.... and i opened it for the first time after i bought it in 2013 (today is 31th of July 2020) ... I bought the device from the apple store, i wonder if it's a general thing? some phones have it and some phones don't...
Thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial. I was successful in changing the battery on my phone. I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks as I am over 70 years old.
Hello, I bought this iPhone 5 a year ago, I replaced the battery when the initial one started performaning, I used the new battery for a day the after it finished, I had to put it on the charger but failed to charge,,,, I remember I did not put the charger pin on the right position I mean I mistakenly put it upside down when plagging it to the charging port,,,but the phone failed to charge later on even when I tried with some different USB cables...help me with what I can do??
I know you posted that a year ago, but how did you do it? I can’t lift it more than about an inch (2 cm?) At that end, and the other and hardly lifts at all! :(
Please NOTE: When removing the 4 screws that hold the screen cable cover nite that there are 2 screws that are a little longer and one of them is Non-magnetic. Note where those 2 screws go. The non-magnetic one I believe goes in the outer hole near the edge of the phone. I believe the non-magnetic screw must be near the compass detector or magnetic field sensor. Getting this screw in the Wrong place will mess this sensor up & your GPS maps & other sensor functions won't work right!
Omg I’m so stupid I thought the adhesive stuff was random so I used it to peel open my phone now I don’t have the adhesive stickers Is it okay, if I don’t apply the adhesive stuff Omg 😭I’m so stupid I ruined my phone
I got my new battery in but when I initially opened the phone, carefully, the home button ribbon came out of its socket. There was no retaining fastener on it. Then the battery had no tag on it to free it for removal. (Used my wife’s hairdryer to loosen the adhesive) Then I noticed a screw missing from the plate that secured the screen cables. Not the new phone I thought I’d bought... On reassembly, although careful, I Iost two retaining screws - this was after a long time trying to place them in their holes.. I nearly wept when they were sprung across the room - My 58 year old eyes aren’t what they used to be. After closing and trying it (hours later) the screen had vertical lines on it and was unresponsive. Never again I thought. Took it to an excellent local guy who does iPhone repairs in 15 minutes. 15 minutes later he handed it back to me repaired. I’d damaged the home button cable and shorted the screen, so a new screen had to be fitted. I’m happy with the end result, and learned my lesson. Leave it to the guys with sharp eyes, know how, and the right tools. Good luck to anyone who has a go themselves.
1) If you afford do it with the master. 2) Omg! I did it myself!!! When you watch 5min hair tutorial and repeat, usually it doesn't look the same. Try to replace the iPhone battery! F.. it is not fun though! It took me one hour, and except the tools for the battery replacement I used the nail kit&brow twizers. The white adhesive under the battery and the clipping back the small cap are annoying parts:)). Will I do it again? Yes! Tomorrow gona replace the iPad battery. Gota learn this as apple products user because apple not gona make the assembly part user friendly.
Be careful digging the battery out from the rear. The volume/vibrate/on/off flex cable is right below the battery. Little black one. I gouged it now I have no vibrate. Keep the tool under the battery only. Oh yeah, I used a old school light bulb to warm the glue. PATIENTS!!!
ok please no one use heat when trying to remove the battery, it's a lithium ion battery which means if you break it or heat it up too much it will burst into a 700 degree fire that can't be put out using most fire extinguishers or water. You also have to be careful not to damage the battery, if it breaks it is again very likely to burst into flames. Please everyone be very careful.
Jagadish Jaki did you lose it in Canada? I bought a phone that is iCloud locked but I checked the IMEI and it’s not blacklisted. The iPhone is : iPhone 5s Gold, 16 GB and IMEI is 013988005421335
This is so complicated?? On my old android all you had to do was pull open the back and take the battery out with your bare hands, but that’s apple for you I guess

Just lift vertically the screen and you unscrew 2 nuts holding the battery terminal

Never ever remove the battery like this!! U can pull the 2 tabs at the bottom and the adhesive strips will pull out with no damage.
✩ⓌⒾⓁⓁⓏⒺ✩ can you help me with this? Please elaborate :)
Oops, you're putting way too much tension on that poor home button cable - you've pulled it taut - BAD BAD idea.
thankyou! btw the suction cup shattered my screen so dont try it
