It is a pity, the old one was soooo good (for the price), only a bit noisy, but who will complain for 6 or 7 bucks. A shame, that it is not available anymore.
Hi Donald! Your video saved me some frustration, I watched your other video and came to watch the new version esc. This is so unfortunate. Do you perhaps have a new favourite low cost esc that you can recommend?
Unfortunately not. It is a pity the old Dumbo is not available anymore. All the < 10 bucks brushed ESCs do have very bad low speed modulation. Around 20 bucks Hobbywing 1625 or of course Modellbau-Regler AS12/6 (needs BEC and wiring). For a basher all the cheapos are ok, for a crawler not really good. For around 45 bucks you get the FCX24 radio with rx/ESC combo, which has really good low speed modulation (e.g. at FairRC).
JST plugs do not fit into the ESC, unfortunately that is not possible at all! With 2S you can start slowly, unfortunately with 3S that's okay. Is still available from Ali for € 6.
Did you watch my video? I used a red JST plug for ch3 lights in the video. Using one or two (not side to side) should be possible, but not on all positions. And I used 2s and it was not possible to start slowly.
hey @donaldsneffe, are you planning to get the dumborc bl3f for review? it's a 3 in 1 10A esc, receiver and light controller. would love to hear your thoughts on that one
Hi! No, probably not. We will see. Honestly, I do not really like those "all in one" units, and would not know what to do with it. I do already have some DumboRX with lightcontroller (X6P, see video, and that one coming with the 1/16 RGT Defender). Highly prefer to use other light controllers (LaneBoysRC), and since those new Dumbo ESCs seem to be super bad (do not know about the BL3F, did not test), would not know what to do with the unit. I do have way too many "bad" ESCs here "in stock" which I never will use. But we will see. Actually it only seems to be available on Ali for about 15 €... It is a 3in1 unit, and normally I will do the other way round, if a truck comes with a 3in1, I will change to external ESC. Do have 10+ 3in1 units (not DumboRC) here in my parts boxes from the micro trucks... and no use.
@@donaldsneffe ok, gotcha. i also noticed it on ali exclusively, and there seem to be no reviews about it online. either way, i appreciate your detailed reply. thanks!
I believe I asked this question on another review. Donald can you please tell me how to switch on and switch off DumboRC esc. There's no visible switch. Thanks in advance.
Why would they make it with lots of functions and modes, but you can't control the speed? I didn't find any reviews making mention of that. Could it be that yours is defect?
You can control speed, but low speed modulation is very, very bad - similar to the small TurboRacing ESC, the Orlandoo ESC, the cheap red China ESCs (check my ESC for microcrawlers video). Where did you see any reviews of this new boxed version? I did not see any so far, only of the old version, which is very good (I also show it in this video). I also do not know anyone, who has the new boxes version so far. There is not a single review on Banggood website for the new version, only for the old versions. I did write a review of the new version yesterday, but it has not yet been published. Check the picturs of BG reviews - all reviews are for the old version. There is the 25 Ampere ESC "Hobbywing 1625 Black", which also does have a fantastic drag brake, but awful low speed modulation, horrible - while the "red" 1625 without drag brake has very good low speed behaviour. It comes with the 1/16 RGT Defender, check this video: ruclips.net/video/HaK2RdSWXDc/видео.html
@@donaldsneffe Oh, there were about 130 reviews. It must have been the old one, even thought I clicked on your link. Thanks, I find your videos to be very informative.
@@rcrockcrawler The product is the same, the link is correct. You will also find several (good) reviews of the old ESC there which I wrote. They only changed the product, but product number and link are the same. I also reviewed the new version, but the review has not been published so far.
Yes - unfortunately exactly the same bad low speed modulation. Die try it after this video because also thought "Maybe I have forgotten this, maybe it is good in brake-mode (red)". But unfortunately not, not even 1% better.
Wait - I saw it - 9.99 US$ now, 8.25 €. Price will hopefully fall again. I swear (and can prove by screenshot) that I bought it for far less. Checked the order again: Ordered on May 14th. Price before coupon was US$ 5.65. I even used a minus 5 shipping coupon (for a order of 8.88 + 2.54 shipping, so I paid far less than 5 bucks for the ESC, all in all US$ 6.50 for the ESC, a 3 bucks tool and shipping - sometimes Banggood gives awesome coupons (this 5 $ shipping coupon works with very small orders).

That’s a shame it was so close to being awesome. Thanks for testing it and saving us the frustration 👍
just saw this on sale locally and almost pulled the trigger. your video was sent from the heavens. haha.
detailed as always, thanks!
Maybe you can still get the "old version" on Aliexpress... or Ebay.

It does not have an on/off switch, plug on/off battery (this is, BTW, the best solution)

Yes, of course - Buzzer is only a function you can use, but do not have to.
Hello, can this ESC handle 3 x 18650 cells that are rated 20A each
Yes, this is like 3s Lipo, no problem. In series... not parallel (too low V)
