Wet the back side of the cloth first then lay it down and wet it out completely. Your cloth did get wet enough with resin. I know you said you ran out of resin. I’m redoing a 1996 sunbird . I’m working with 1.5 chop mat and 24oz biaxle with 2 oz of chop mat on the back. Haven’t really do any content on it , I do have one video showing the boat. I’ll probably do one this weekend coming.
Like your video, I'm going to take top cap off to redo my floor, be my 1st time. But stupid question when you lay your floor down what do you screw it down to??, the stringers??
thank god we have the same model and year lol i have a soft spot right by the driver seat and the cockpit area. i had a shop price the repair and was gonna charge me almost 3,500 just too do it.
Resin I’m using ...... for the hardener I’m putting 6.5ml to a quart of resin. It was 85 degrees today and I had plenty of work time and it cured up perfect.
This project I’m working on is so I can get my family in the water. I bought this boat for 400 bucks ..... 1996 sunbird with a 112 spl Johnson. The boat sat in the lady’s yard and the floor rotted away . Got it back in October of last year ..... didn’t really get to work on it much cause I worked 65 hours a week on up until this covid 19 hit so now I’m only working 30 hours a week and I’ve just about got all the flooring done. Next weekend I should finish the flooring. All this in hopes of getting my family out the house and in the water to have some fun. Enjoyed the content
I’m thinking about replacing the floor in my Nitro. It has a layer of fiberglass on top that is solid, then it *should* have a layer of plywood, and then there is another layer of fiberglass below the wood. When I bought the boat a month ago, the owner said there is no wood in the boat, just fiberglass. While he wasn’t wrong, I think there should be a layer of plywood between the two layers of fiberglass in the floor. Can I just cut the top layer of glass off, drop the plywood in, and then re-use the old layer of fiberglass back on top? That way I wouldn’t only have to glass in the edges where I made my cut. Is thy a bad idea?
I wouldn’t because it’s old. And because it will probably be a pain in the neck to get the fiberglass loose from the plywood. I know some boat makers don’t use wood but I am not sure if nitro is one of them. Good luck.
Bought a 94 EB tide dyna trak 178, trying to replace most of the floor like what you’re doing, got any tips to make it easier? And I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do if I run across wet foam in the stringers
@@fixdreambuild4747 I used a converter app. It taught me that there are a LOT of units of measure, that I have never heard of. 😅 I'm starting a bassboat floor, sometime soon here. Thanks for showing me a thing or two. It outta be fun. 😱

Yes. The plywood is there support the fiberglass when you lay it. If you lay it.
Ok ty, yes I plan on fiberglassing the floor after.ty
Good luck.

Try to get as much of the wood out from under lip as possible. As far as the stringer go. Hope they are covered in fiberglass. Mine were. Thank god!!!
Good job brother. Thanks for the video
Thank you
Nice job!!! DID you used pressure treated plywood?
Yes I did
Nice job! Looks great. Thank you. I am about to start a similar repair.
Awesome. Good luck
140 drops is equal to about a quarter ounce (0.243 oz). So if you did 40 ounces of resin, you could just add one ounce of hardener. 😁
I google it and figured this out too of course after counting 140 drops. Lol

Nice work. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new boat!
It definitely is. Lol
Did you put foam in it 🤔 maybe I missed that part
No. I didn’t have foam in it. So didn’t see a reason to add any
