      James Thomas bought the purple gun 2 years ago,with coupons i paid about 9 or 10 bucks i used it to paint a crane and it sprays 2part paint as well as a good spraygun ,it just didnt hold as much paint as a pro gun.its all about the prep and color sanding.

      The reviews seem to back up your experience. I picked up two of them on the coupon on Sunday when I was there to use the 25% off mother's day sale coupon to buy a tool. They have another 25% coming up for Memorial day. Another RUclipsr posted this site for tracking the coupons:
      www.hfqpdb.com/ which includes a 20% off that is good all year.

    Retired painter here. 45 years professional 1972-2017. Trained and certified by GM back in the day as a master paint tech. Have sprayed everything. Saw the technology develop. Learned with it. Those cheap guns.....I used them for years. The purple gun was a copy of the original SATA Jet. Great gun. Copy was ok too. Parts were even interchangeable believe it or not. The suction gun was a Binks #7 copy. Great gun in its day. The trick is less with the gun than it is with the painter and his familiarity with his materials and painting environment. I used to have fun with my cheap guns in the shop, mainly GM dealerships and later in the restoration business. The other guys in the shop had expensive guns but here I was producing superior work with knock off guns. It was a hoot. Your video was good. You found out what I did years ago. A good painter can apply any brand anytime anywhere. Guns are one of the smallest parts in the equation. Painting is a very complicated process. Again enjoyed the video.

      Gary Parks great way of saying it...words like that wouldn't come from anything else but experience. It's funny in these comments too, listening to or someone who thinks that you can only get factory quality or "glass" with a gun that's 500-1000$ I've used 2 purples daily for almost 3 years and they make for a very fine mist and even fan pattern. Primers base/clears same gun. Cool info on them being a copy of the sata always thought they looked similar. Expensive guns cheap hands cheap finish

    Been spraying for 35 years, i started with some cheap guns when i first started out, been to just about every teck session for ppg,dupont,basf and add my last 3 years of vocational tech for autobody. as i really started to become know for my quality spray jobs i decided to try more exotic spray guns and big bucks paint products , i was spending $1000 for paint for Porsches and ferrari's and high end cars, and figured i should have a spray gun to match, i moved from 100 dollar guns to 200 dollar guns 300 and up to 600 sata's etc. Fast forward.. I buy my daughter a fixer upper and decide to fix a few dents, prime a few spot in my back yard under a car tent. I got a 80 gallon 2stage compressor in the basement and run hoses to the back yard , and realize, I don't have my good guns any more,, ,, Geez,, i need a spray gun, but can't justify 3-400 just for one little project, i go to harbor freight and see some really cheapo cup over hvlp's $15-$30 and think, are you kiddin me. so i buy one for primer, and use it at home and find, wow, this thing is way better than expected. Once all that is done i figure i'll go buy a better one for painting and clear coat,, then at the last minute , i don't feel like shopping for a spray gun and go back and buy the $30 gun and spray and clear coat the little nissan in the back yard, with perfect wind conditions, humidity perfectt, air pressure and air double filtered, perfect temp, gun tweeked all best conditions and viscosity and I attack it. Job was smokin. It might not have been one of my $10,000 custom car show finish, but you would never guess i gave it an ppg base and acme glamour gloss clear coat in the back yard with a $30 gun ever. Being experienced was 50% of it, and the rest was the cheap gun and cheep product. Lots of fresh air can make a big difference, i would give it a 9.7 on a 10 scale

      Scott ClementBuilt I painted my 1976 rest Rod vette blue and diamond metal flake with silver and diamond flake in acrylic lacquer in my detached garage and 42 coats of clear acrylic lacquer took me about 3 -4weeks applying 4 coats wet sanding with 1500 to 3000 allowing a few days drying and then re spraying again again till everything was perfect rubbed out with compound and then corn starch and hi end wax after a few weeks . It turned out great but get way to much attention which is a pain . I had several years of lacquer at a gm dealership in the seventies lolo . Any way everything I sprayed on the vette was done with $20.00suction feed and 2 for $40.00gravity feed guns ,your right they work great

      You can actually sand and buff those squito's right out! Given the finish you have on there now which looks a little "orange peeled" anyway, you have a choice of sanding of buffing/polishing but be careful! If you're too heavy handed, you'll get a bare spot in your nice work quick!

    Not bad for an amateur. A few things though... Try painting a little slower and apply light coats of paint and then wait about 10 minutes between coats. Also never paint on grassy or dusty areas. Try a concrete area and spray water around your work area to keep the dust down. Try placing a water separator at the compressor and definitely don't use that inline filter anymore. Also turn down the Psi to around 25-30. All in all you did a really good job on your prep and not too shabby for a first time painter. The $16 spray gun works really well. I've painted a hood, two fenders and two doors with it and they turned out great. I bought this to paint wheels and other small parts.

    As an old tool salesman got from a potential client when he told him "What your painters need are better tools (i.e. more expensive)" and the reply was "No, what I need is better painters for the tools I got!"
    Its not always the high priced tools, its the person who masters it.

    Thanks for the review! Having great tools is a bonus, but you don't strictly *need* them to do a great job.
    I really liked using the $700 German spray guns we had in our shop when I was going through paint school. If you'd had the opportunity to use better guns side-by-side, you'd start to notice the difference. Even a relatively inexpensive (read: $100-150) 3M gun is going to outperform those HF pieces. Move up to a DeVilbiss or higher-tier gun, and you'll observe that the things you're paying for are fine-tune of controls, ease of maintenance, durability, and/or overall consistency of application.
    A few tips for Samcrac or anyone considering painting: Use gloves. Mixing, painting, sanding, or otherwise. Get some decent nitrile or latex gloves and wear them. You don't want this stuff to get into your skin, and you don't want the oils in your skin to get onto the substrate or in between layers of finish.
    Before you add any coat -- paint, primer, bondo, or clear coat...you need to thoroughly clean off your parts with Wax & Grease remover, then you need to use a tack cloth to remove any final, stubborn particles.
    It is recommended that you hit those "hard to reach" spots first and cover the large, flat areas afterward. This way, you have a full hopper (cup) of paint and are more able to get into funky angles. Also, this will help to reduce the amount of overspray you're experiencing -- those "rough spots" in the primer around 6:45 are caused by atomized particles landing on areas you've already gone over, and not blending into the coating.
    When spraying try to use as few passes as possible. What I mean by that is: Whenever you can, your spray passes should start from a few inches OFF the edge, continue all the way through the fender (or whatever other area) to the other edge, only cutting off the paint spray a few inches AFTER the edge ends. Subsequent passes may need to overlap by 25, 50, or even 75% for proper coverage, depending on the layer & viscosity you're applying, but this way you get smooth, continuous spray patterns over the widest possible area. It really helps to set up the work piece in a spot where you can freely move around it.

    I am a professional. I own the SATA digital $1000 gun and find very little difference in results from it and the $13 HF gun! This is hard to admit, but at least the Big SATA sign gets to hang on the wall to impress somebody. Operator skill is much more critical and is mostly a matter of practice. The old style suction feed gun is still very handy because you can leave non catalyzed lacquer primer in it for weeks at a time without cleanout between use. The $60 HF gun is the workhorse in my shop. High end paint jobs are going to be color sanded and buffed so the gun is as good as anybody will need. His paint came out very good for a first attempt. My only advise is that you spray backside and the difficult areas like holes first. That way the over spray areas are more hidden. I live in Colorado where bees are attracted to the paint smell. Big motorhomes will not fit in the booth so bugs are problematic. I have never found a solution to mother nature.I did not see flex agent added to the paint, hopefully it is in there or the first small bump will demonstrate why it is needed.

      I am really surprised to hear guys saying they would never let a cheap gun near their classic car, These guys are exactly the ones who should be paying attention to this video. will a $1000 socket remove your lugnut any better than a $10 socket. It continues to show their ignorance of craftsmanship. After a show motorcycle paint job is color sanded and polished there is no possible way to know what price spray gun was used. I can also bet that guys with this with the ( Don't use a Earl Schieb gun on my classic car) attitude have never sprayed a single car and never will. Guys these videos and comments by professional painters are a blessing, listen to them. I did not have You Tube in the late 60's and had to learn a lot of this the very hard way. Lots of runs or as we called them ,.Flow Indicators, Lots of orange peal and fish eyes. Lots of wasted very expensive materials. You now have a free unlimited library of valuable knowledge at your finger tips. Rather than criticsize it or the comments listen and learn. You have been given a blessing learn to appreciate it.

      Clint Webster I sprayed plenty and can actually see the diff in texture w the bad gun. Period. It can’t atomize as well. But being ur a hick and shit jobs doesn’t matter to customers fine. Ask how many true shops use that junk gun. I guarantee anyone with any kind of rep doesn’t use 15 dollar guns for anything but primer. And even then u make more probs than u need. It’s all about speed and u habe to be too careful to
      Even get a somewhat shit job. The gun leaks farts burps does lots of things and isn’t machined anywhere near what a devillbiss is or sata or iwata. If it was that great of a cost cutting move shops would flock to it and those companies would be out of business. Like I said u can fool people w it. It struggles to atomize the urethane and also the polyester base coat. If you look closely you’ll see it but it sounds like u routinely rip-off ur customers. Not my prob but
      I’m sure they wouldn’t go
      For ur services if they knew any better. Or even examined it up
      Close. Most don’t know what orange peel is so I can see ur customer satisfaction. Yes it is skill but the tool makes the job 10x harder just to get a decent overall. And still
      Like I said it can’t atomize today’s finishes. It just sucks. It’s fine for someone wanting a hack job. That’s good save 85 dollars between thay and a decent gun and lose the better overall for 400 dollar product loss. Yeah thay makes perfect sense to risk that. Nobody buys 1000 sata guns. Maybe super high volume shops. Or exotics. But even buying a Tekna or pro lite is fine. Or even a plus gfg-670 gun. Shopline is cheap trash anyway. In the end people. Ygwupf. Period

    The rough spots in your primer are caused by spray distance being too far. The atomized particles start to dry in the air before they hit the surface if you aren't close enough.

    The biggest tip I have is one I learned the hard way. Always keep the tip level with the surface and follow the curves. If you tip the nozzle around you'll actually get high and low spots instead of even coverage

      clint cox hey buddy if you are buying a gun make sure you have enough compressor cfm and get a water separator and filter drain compressor often .Here is what I did I purchased 2 compressors 120volt with 4.5 cfm for just under $ 100 Canadian each and I found an auxiliary air tank rated for compressors so I had 2 8 gallon compressors and aux tank 20 gallon and filter and water separator it was enough to paint cars and run impact . Later I lucked into a returned 4.5 cfm 10 gallon new compressor at a box store clearance for $60 Canadian which I purchased and added to the system ,in case I needed 13 cfm .

    I'm glad to see you stuck with using the correct mixing ratios while preparing the paints and primers and not trying to adjust their viscosity. Most paint coatings rely on a combination of solvent evaporation and chemical curing to preform as intended. Messing with the mix ratio can result in trapping solvents under the surface or weak paint structure due to having either excess paint or catalyst trapped within the system. Good work thanks for sharing.

    Look at Inest away, very good paint gun for the $. Away is the best, uses NO gaskets. Machining Tolerance Perfect. Sata is the next best. I painted a truck of mine with the El cheapo harbor freight paintgun. Key is to Filter air coming in for oil/water. Next is measuring and mixing real good paint mix, consistent each time you refill. Also know mix for weather conditions. Also paint gun pressure coming from compressor to paintgun. Spray pattern also. What kind of primer to use for paint, and bumper covers. Then you get into wet sanding, find a good automotive paint store that will help and guide you. Also, what's on sale , paint, pearl,

    The marking on the more expensive HVLP gun tell you the amount of airflow the gun uses at 40psi. So 15 cfm is 15 cubic feet of air per minute at 40 PSI. The compressor you use needs to be rated at that or better flow rate to allow you to continually use the gun.

    • @SoManyDogs
      @SoManyDogs 6 лет назад +4

      Yup. Also keep in mind that if you DO have a larger shop type compressor in that 15 CFM range, the little desiccant filters won't be even remotely enough to remove the moisture. The higher the CFM, the more moisture the comp is going to make. With the big air screw comps I deal with, it is a near constant output of fog from the air end. You need a proper water trap system sized for the output or (even better) an air dryer system...which HF does sell for about $400. It is actually quite good.

I just went down the side facing the Garage with a finish wet coat when a big Gust of wind came up and the roof had a load of dry leaves which blew all over the Wet paint. Good video! I use both the purple spray and purple detail guns. I have very expensive guns I've had for years that I don't bother using anymore. The differences between the very expensive guns and the HF guns is the quality of internal parts. Needles, orifices, etc. You can smooth these up a bit if you work with them VERY CAREFULLY. They will wear out faster than the expensive guns parts, but if you are a small item, weekend sprayer, these guns will work very well for you, just take good care of them.

    I had to spray clear lacquer (DEFT) on stained beams in the ceiling of my living room and used the purple gun. The finish was perfect. I was so happy, a couple years ago those guns went on sale for $10 and I bought three more to have on hand. Get the gun cleaning kit that gets all the ports and orifices clean. Start out playing with it using water on dry cardboard. Adjust to get the best spray pattern. If you cannot get a fine consistent spray pattern, take it back and get a new one. They also sell "disposable" paint cups that screw on the gun. They are cleanable and can be reused on a job or two.
    If you are painting outside, you are going to get dust and bugs anyway so a DeVillbiss gun will not produce perfect results. These are really nice gins for the money.

    Next time a bug or debris land in the clear, use a strip of masking tape to extract the debris right away, hold both ends of the tape and make a semi circular shape, roll the tape across the debris to remove it. Let the clear flow out in the affected area, then continue spraying the clear. You may have a clear coat imperfection, but it’ll wet sand out when dry. This technique works well for runs as well. I used cheap Amazon spray guns to spray my 1964 F100 four years ago, it came out excellent. Here’s a link to a walk around of my truck ruclips.net/video/bNkM_zoVsVA/видео.html

    I’m no professional painter but I’ve worked around a few and picked up a few tips and tricks along the way, and used a Binks gun. Yes there’s lots of difference but I’ve got two Harbor Freight guns and sprayed acrylic single stage, water base stain, latex paint, oil base paint, as long as you keep it clean after painting and practice setting pressures thinning it can spray an excellent job. A lot of it depends upon your abilities, I’m currently spraying kitchen cabinets two coats oil base primer with Pentrol thinner sanding between all coats finishing with two coats oil base gloss white with the two quart pot and remote spray gun for about $49 I’m very satisfied.

      Mason use plastic to cover everything or wall off an area with plastic. Next use a high flow fan(box fan won’t cut it) then open a window or door seal it off around the fan then open up a door or window across the shop make sure there is a screen to prevent bugs and dust from outside. You could also try air return vent filters on the windows but not sure if you could get enough flow. Also you don’t get much overspray using primer and base coat/clear coat then you do with single stage paint.

They would always paint with the garage door open but once the paint process was over, they would close the garage door, to keep the bugs out. When they opened the door the next day they would begin wet sanding, and they weren't done until a rag would float across the hood of the car. It was a beautiful sight to see.

A skilled painter can take the HF cheap gun and make it work like a chef and a knife etc... I have painted with that gun and now own a couple of them for bikes etc and they work . I love that they are gravity fed over a suction type. I loved the gravity gun since they came out. I even had primer guns that were gravity fed. You all can judge but, If you know how to use them you can have passable paint job ! every one else to each their own !

    You can cheap out on certain things... Paint should never be one of them. Spray guns work in same principle regardless of the price range. Just be careful with your needle selection. However, paint is something that will determine the look and also the longevity of the work (if you care). I think that PPG Deltron, BASF RM or Glasurit, or Spies Hecker (my third choice) are the best. Especially the Glasurit stuff goes on like butter.

    Judging by the amount of overspray visible while you were spraying, my guess is you had the air pressure set too high. This is a mistake people make because they think that they need it that high to atomize the material being sprayed. The solution is to thin the material with the appropriate thinner and using a viscosity cup to assure it is thinned to the proper viscosity. In addition, you would be far better off using an oil/water separator before your airline, not after.

Also, having the right settings on the knobs of the spraygun is important. Clean the gun thoroughly (spray thinners through it if using solvent-based paints) afterwards is also good. @@hectorcastillo2463 yeah it's about the quality of the paint not the gun dude. I know plenty of uses for the cheap spray guns in custom motorbikes. Spraying metal flake destroys guns so it's far better to have a pretty much semi disposable gun for it than be stressing about cleaning and dismantling your 900$ gun every day. Just load a 40$ gun with the flake & clear mix and go to town. Plus having 3 cheap guns with 1.8 & 1.4mm nozzles loaded with primer, flake and clear means you can spend money on the nicer airbrushes for the real detail/mural/fish scale/lace type work.
      Plus if the choice is spending money on the guns or the compressor and needed accessories spend the money there. A good filter/moisture trap before the gun, good quality paint, hardener, thinner and primer plus stuff like a good mask, viscosity and mixing cups etc and ideally a paint booth type setup matter more than the gun once you get past the Syphon type guns.

We built a paint booth out of Construction plastic. The kind you hang to close off or divide a room. Used a staple gun to attach it to the rafters, used 2nd's or whatever they call the 2x4's that are junk, but new, to hold the plastic down on the floor. Hung a few fluorescent lights and he was good to go. Painted a lot of cars for a lot of people in there. Other than the concrete floor being an obvious huge expense, the rest was pretty cheap to do.

    I noticed you touched the bumper before and after primer lot the inside of the paint cup. You shouldn’t do that but you should always wipe it down before spraying there’s so much oil on our skin and it can ruin paint. So it should be wiped down
    The other thing is the “rough spots” that’s primer drying before it hits the surface. It’s doing this because of the 4:1 mix and the 1.3mm tip you used you should mix it about 10-15% thinner if you use that small of a tip. So that’s about it other than that great video.

If I’m spraying a two part conversion varnish I pull the tip between coats. May be overkill to some but never gets clogged up . Also the obvious, right air pressure and mixture based on weather conditions. Practice makes perfect. I make and spray high end furniture. Final top coats need to spot on.

    I find that the issue with anything from HF is consistency. 2 people will go to the same exact store, at the same exact time, and buy the same 2 guns (that were most likely manufactured consecutively). One will fall apart 5 minutes after taking it out of the box, or spray bad or have bad threads, etc. While the other one will last 15 years.
    I bought 2 die grinders from HF, one for my boss and one for me. His just stopped working a few minutes in, the one I bought lasted weeks until I left the job for something better. I let him keep the grinder. Talked to him months later and the die grinder was still working fine.

    What I found with the $15 HF gun is sputtering due to leaks. The plastic ring at the body/tip interface, and no backing nut on the needle would allow leaks = sputtering. The HF gun in their 2 gun kit is all metal and does have the backing nut... the polished+purple accent gun. That one has sprayed like a dream for me.

    I use a HVLP spray rig to shoot wood work in homes. It's not just the gun, but the prep work before you ever begin to spray. Also the quality of paint you buy. Don't buy cheap paint. Also very important to practice with gun. I have found even the temperature and humidity will effect the delivery of paint to product. I use lacquer thinner to clean out my gun. I take the gun apart, and clean each individual component, Harbor Freight even stocks a cleaning kit for spray guns! When I spray a clients kitchen cabinets, I set up a spray booth by putting a fan in the window. On the opposite side of room with a air conditioner filter over opened window. That is my air intake. The window with the fan is set to exhaust the air out of the room, this improves drying the room out, and removes some of the fumes. The filter over the intake window prevents trash, bugs, dust from entering room. Always have a screen over the intake window!
    You did good for never have used a spray gun before!

    I notice you don't mention using panel wipe which can be the killer for the pro looking job as all it takes is a tiny amount of skin oil to get on the primer and it will turn a good job into a bad one. I have two types, one slow and one fast, using the slow on the first wipe and fast for in between or if its been left for a while.

      Thank you at least someone with a little common sense. I understand this is his first time but maybe a little research wouldn't have been a bad idea. I think it's crazy to try your first paint job with a $16 Harbor Freight gun on a 2011 Corvette. And if he did a little research he would have known to wet sand the primer, add bull to the bumper so that the paint flexes with the bumper. That's the number one reason paint on bumpers crack. And also wiping it down with a wax and grease remover as to not get your hand grease. And you should also use a tack rag before you paint. He should have thought of this project when he painted that ugly blue Jaguar painted. LOL

    Hey Sam drain your air compressor tank from the bottom when you’re not using it. Drains the water and you don’t get as much moisture.

    • @ethanpoole3443
      @ethanpoole3443 6 лет назад +2

      Thomas Strickland That actually does not make much of a difference unless you have quite a lot of water accumulated in the tank (as in approaching the level of the tank outlet). The moisture that is the real problem is not that which has already condensed out, sitting at the bottom of the tank, but that which is still latent within the compressed air itself -- especially if that compressed air is still quite hot from having just been compressed. The moisture that causes most of the grief happens right at the spray gun where the air pressure undergoes a sudden drop in pressure, which chills the air causing suspended moisture vapor to spontaneously condense back into liquid moisture since cooler air has a reduced moisture carrying capacity versus warm air.
      If you have a large enough air compressor (or at least tank) and a relatively small job you can actually get around most of the moisture issue simply by charging the tank and then allowing it to cool for about an hour before you spray. When the air in the tank cools down to room temperature most of the suspended moisture vapor will condense out, settling on the tank bottom, so that you are now spraying much drier air. But it is still wise to use some sort of a moisture trap just before the gun, but you will get more life out of the paper or desiccant moisture trap that way since there will be far less overall moisture in the airstream and the airstream will undergo a much less dramatic cooling since it has already cooled to ambient temperatures.

    • @thomasstrickland0
      @thomasstrickland0 6 лет назад +1

      Ethan Poole look guy. Nobody has time for all of that google copy and paste answer stuff. In the real world draining your tank helps especially in humid areas like here in North Carolina. Most people don’t have the time to sit there and wait for their tank too cool down. Most people have work to do. All you need too do is drain the tank every night. It also helps prevent rust. You still need a moisture trap to help your tools from getting damaged. I use the words “all you need too do is” very lightly. Well because that’s a whole different subject.

    • @michigancur6670
      @michigancur6670 6 лет назад +5

      Mr Poole is right though. Unless the water is near the outlet it's not what's getting in your hose. It's the natural cooling as the air travels that causes water at the end. Drain the tank to keep it in good condition, moisture traps, and if you can let it rest between charging and using is best.

I suspect that you're accusing someone of a disingenuous understanding of something because you didn't understand what was written.

    There's an amazing amount of junk in the air, everywhere in the nation, and it will all settle on your paint... and be stunningly visible, especially on white. Throw together a cheap paint booth the size of your largest part, with a clear plastic flexible vinyl sheet that you can pull down over the front after you've finished spraying. Positive air pressure also helps. I used to use those 24" box fans blowing through a 24" furnace filter, located on the top of my temporary booth (built it out of that black sewer pipe, ABS I think, that they sell at home depot - just friction fit the joints, don't glue them). I don't even know if you can buy 24" box fans any more... they used to be way cheap, and really worked well. And, at minimum, a filter mask to keep the stuff out of your lungs while you're spraying. Some auto paints are really toxic, especially the two part paints. Pro bodymen suit up in what looks like a CDC style biohazard suit, just to stay safe. We didn't used to do it, but most do now.

      Jayyy Jay a fair DIY review. For one use the cheap gun is OK. For getting it sprayed in the US. If you remove the bumper, sand it and light prime & sand it, you can carry it to a MACCO shop and get it sprayed for only $100USD (no more than 150), which is what you'd pay for the paint and gun. So about the same and about the same results at a budget paint shop, except the bugs.

    I'm on my 3rd $10 harbor freight hvlp gun in 20 yrs. I have painted cars, motorcycles, furniture, you name with these guns and love them. The best thing is they only use 6 cfm of air so my shop air compressor works fine. The more expensive gun requires 15 cfm of air which means you'll need a large two stage 60 gal 220v compressor which most home shops are not equipped for. My only comment is when you buy one of these clean it thoroughly with lacquer thinner before use as they are full of grease from manufacturing. When they get wore out and ugly I buy a new one.

I can buy clear pre-cat lacquer for $25 a gallon CDN so he should be able to buy it for half that.
      You know, we're just advocating walking before you run. chill....

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 6 лет назад +1

      I don't know if that's the BEST way but it is one way.....having someone who knows, teach you is far better..that way you can learn some tricks of the trade. Sure,you can sand the finish off, but every time you do, specially with a plastic bumper, you run the risk of sanding down an edge detail. When I worked in a restoration shop and had to wet sand paint jobs, the boss wouldn't let me within 1/4" of an edge because it's SO easy to blow through.
      I saw when he was prepping LOTS of black areas where he blew through the paint. On plastic, doesn't take long to ruin the shape/edge/compound curve. Specially with a ROS.

Set all your knobs wide open and set your inline air regulator to 24psi and the purple sprayer will work just fine. I wouldn't spray candy with it or anything tricky but for single step you're golden.
