    2 completely different machines, for 2 completely different jobs. The big Graco ( airless ) is used for production, larger projects, like walls, ceilings, exterior stucco, and so on, those machines run at around 1500-2000 psi. The small HVLP ( high volume low pressure ) is used for small projects, such as cabinets, doors, trims. You can't compare 2 different products and expect the same results.

    I would buy it because I am not a house flipper. Plus I don't have an extra $500 or the space to have an appliance like that sitting around in my basement for when I want to paint a room every couple of years. It was pretty evident from the start of the video what you thought. I am happy with my $40 "cheap version" sprayer. It does what I need it to do.

    HVLP has its uses. It provides a very smooth finish where it's needed.
    it's not for drywall. Better to use a roller than cheap hvlp for drywall.
    You should have kept the HVLP sprayer for when you need to spray cabinets. The airless sprayer would have too much orange peel in that case.

    • @WhatTheFlipShow
      @WhatTheFlipShow  Год назад +2

      The best result will be to sand the trim to bare wood, but this is very time consuming. You could also use a bonding primer over the stain so you won’t have to sand as much. In our previous house flip we painted all of the trim which was heavily lacquered and stained. We sanded some down to bare wood, and for the doors we just used a bonding primer and both results look great. Hope this helps!

    I have honestly not had great luck with the Graco Magnum sprayer. We've tried to use it multiple times, but on ours we could NEVER get the pressure adjusted to have a smooth solid spray without tails, even at the highest setting, and with the pressure that high, we had drips EVERYWHERE and had to sand down. It was so disappointing to have spent that much and not had good results, and we used it on multiple projects trying to figure out if we were doing anything wrong. I honestly now wonder if we had a defective unit.

      Unless you have one of the many primers where it says "do not thin" in the materials data sheet. While not common with paints, this direction is often included with primers. There are many ways to be penny wise and pound foolish with painting, thinning primer is one of them. It's all fun and games until you see adhesion fail for the first time. Then you have to start from square one. Scrape off the blisters, compound, sand, then primer again.

    cannot compare, different technologies. Airless vs Air gun. Not fair. you could compare with the graco airless gun instead.

    It seems to me that you are comparing two different systems. One is a HVLP System, and the other is an AIRLESS painting system... Its like compare a electric bicycle with a motorcycle...

      We’re aware they’re not in the same class, but we thought it would be fun to compare the two. We were curious how MUCH better the expensive one was compared to the budget alternative, so we figured others might be curious as well.

    Hmm...someone may go with the $40 dollar Amazon sprayer because it's 1/12th the price of the $500 dollar sprayer. I would have taken the $40 dollar sprayer off your hands if you hadn't thrown it away lol.

    This seems an unfair comparison. It's like comparing a pick up to a corvette and saying which will be better for a farm, or an artist's paint brush with a paint roller and asking what's going to paint a wall better. I think the small paint sprayer is the one to use for cabinets or furniture, while the industrial one is for larger areas, like walls. Must be nice to be able to just toss out $50, likely someone else could have used it and you don't create more garbage.

    The first mistake is trying to use that tiny sprayer to paint an entire wall. It was clearly not designed for something like that.

    Or Maybe Cabinets! Or maybe a chair? U should always spend time money on a real expensive sprayer you are going to use one time! And you should have picked a bigger space or maybe you title your video what it was meant to do!

    you ask us why would buy the cheap one? well because 90% of the people here are not professional painters and we won't want to spend hundreds of dollars in something we're gonna be using once or twice a year...

      You can rent one from Home Depot that way you don’t have to buy it for a one time use and then it collect dust in your storage for the rest of time
