This game is an excellent addition to the Mario library! Nintendo would be crazy to act like they always do and send a "cease and desist" to the designer.

So how long before Nintendo gets wind of this fan project and shuts it down and then goes on to do nothing with this great concept.?
As a Big SM64 player/rom hack player...it is possible for Nintendo to hit this but when it comes to SM64 they kinda don't bat an eye
The reason is because it's not using their code no more, people have taken SM64 and turned it into completely different games like you see here it's not the same source code as the base game was therefore they can't hold people accountable.
Now I could be wrong as I only play the games that people are making but from what I've seen throughout the year's it's very rare for an SM64 rom hack to be taken down.

I managed to set it up and fool around in it. It's a very unique concept with a few surprises here and there. All I need is an emulator that can save data.
I've been following the guy on twitter for awhile now, I find this dedication highly impressive I must say even for a solo dev. Details on everything the assets, texture etc is all outstanding. I myself as a solodev I find people doing these things so highly impressive to not give up hope on tackling my dream project along with practice. Level name ideas

Nintendo needs to either do these types of things themselves, leave the community and its experimentation, or better yet embrace it by promoting it (while kicking themselves for not doing it themselves first).

Hi lady decade.This is Marcus again. My late girlfriend was also a Mario fan. When she passed away. She left me her whole game collection. And she has every Mario game except this new hack you're talking about. But if she was still around I'm sure she would have loved it😊

@@jojoojoratti123 thank you. I really do miss her. And yes it is hard. Because she has an identical twin sister. But I do keep in contact with her family a lot. They are kind of like a second family to me.
Had the 64dd taken off more, this would have been a killer app for it.
I will love to see a a hacker homebrew and find a way to increase the storage size on the 64DD drive. Even a everdrive pro 64 cartridge similar to the sd2snes pro version on the snes.
I wonder if Nintendo will ever think of a 3D Mario Maker in the future, or rely on fan games that will do the job that fans actually want.

I think geometry and polygons might be why Nintendo doesn’t have an official equivalent. These take up a lot more memory. As such what you’d be able to make both on the Switch and stored on Nintendo’s servers in the way Mario Maker does probably is too small and limited to be satisfying to players.

My 4yo daughter is currently completely hooked on Mario, so "we" played through Wonder, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, 3D World and we're finishing Odyssey. The 2D are less appealing, and the most killer feature in the series is a dog who follows you in the desert stage of Odyssey ;) I'll gonna take a look at this hack, looks awesome!
I wished for the possibilty to make 3-dimensional courses since Super Mario Maker 2 came out and I saw that it had the new 3D World game style which is however 2-dimensional like the other game styles. But I still like Super Mario 2 a lot to this day and I keep playing it and making new courses occasionally.
Also your sons could also play Super Mario 3D Land on 3DS and Super Mario 3D World which originally came out for Wii U but was ported to Switch under the name "Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury".
My nieces are 3 and 5 and they love mario all stars, Wonder and karts 8. They also love Minecraft and sonic

This is soooo good. As a woman with two girls that love Mario to death. This game sounds amazing, not only do games like this provide joy & entertainment for kids, but also teach kids how to create and use their brain a little.
it would be cool if you could make a hub world level and make your own castle with new paintings linking to ur lives, also have multiple stars per level
Nintendo WAS working on something like this for the Mario Artist series on the N64DD. But that didn't exactly go so well.

If I were Nintendo I would certainly consider a 3D Mario Maker. In the early days of gaming, video games were almost exclusively the domain of kids. Young people these days who do play Minecraft certainly would understand how to make stages. Who knows, maybe some of the Xennials who played Mario 64 back in 96' might like such a 3D Mario Maker Game. Regardless, such a development would only benefit Nintendo.
Having a level editor is a big big plus for people who want to learn level design

Regarding 2D vs. 3D appealing to kids, I've always loved video games of all kinds, but I was always fascinated by 3D games. Even as far back as the Atari 2600 and games like Tunnel Runner, and Escape From the Mindmaster. I loved the idea that I could explore a virtual world. Even today, when I play a racing game and there's interesting scenery on the side of the road, I always wish I could get out of the car and explore it.
We were this close to actually getting an actual Mario Maker 64 in the style of Mario Polygon and Graphic Design Maker for the N64DD
I'm definitely giving this a try and making a level or 2. No idea what I'd actually make though, would need to play around a bit first.
I think it's absolutely wonderful GAMING is something you and your family do together :) my daughter is older now in her teens and she's still a gamer! I made sure she was exposed to nes, snes, and such as she grew older. She's been in love ever since 🤘 you're awesome lady decade! This is a Nintendo game mod and knowing their anti-consumer policies it's just a matter of time until they ask to take down this project. I don't get why is it so difficult for them to accept that there are thousands upon thousands of their fans willing to expand on their games and they just Sease and Desist them, like they can't even let these projects be for free without the makers of these wonderful mods get a cent of remuneration for their work, and I heard this is a "scar", a wound from back in the origins of Mario vs Donkey Kong, when Nintendo got a lawsuit for the similarity of name with King Kong, and that situation seems to get them extra careful with their intellectual properties from that point on. I make mods for Skyrim for that reason because Bethesda knows that giving players the creative freedom to expand on their games is the best way to keep a constant fanbase but since Nintendo is geared towards children mainly, they don' t care, but hopefully they change their policies to be more consumer friendly.
BTW Lady Decade, I really enjoy your videos of all kinds of gaming stuff, I'm regularly watching them.

Mario maker 3d is already in the works. It contains 3d world, galaxy, sunshine, and 64. Its the next logical step. ... no odyssey. My dad works for nintendo.
