      Howdy! I'm about to purchase a 2015 fiesta st with 78000 miles on it and I'm no mechanic by any means so my question is......are they reliable or am I going into a potential money pit? The one I'm looking at is totally stock.

      Incredibly reliable! I didn’t have any issues ever until I went big turbo. Don’t floor it under 2500rpms and it should be fine all the time :) if you have questions let me know! I just bought a 2014 ST3 with 160k miles and it’s still running plenty strong

    Was your motor blowing up related to these new mods? Physical failure. Or was it a tuning failure. Curious if the waste gate failed etc etc and cause a lean high boost or something.

    • @gapperformance
      @gapperformance  2 года назад +1

      I routed the lines on my wastegate incorrectly and it overboosted one time. The Accessport will only read up to 30psi (which it did) and it really could have been 50-70 for all I know. It was my fault and I take full responsibility. It felt like a hard fuel cut when it overboosted and didn’t throw any codes. I knew it was the boost solenoid routed wrong because it was the only thing I had doubt over. Overboosting even once can bend a rod or crack a piston pretty easily. I routed the lines correctly and didn’t have a problem for two glorious weeks of S280 power. Then as I slowly merged on a highway it grenaded out of nowhere.

    • @gapperformance
      @gapperformance  2 года назад +2

      I’ll make a RUclips video on how to do it. But basically if you google the Cobb Accessport boot screen file size, you can get a pic that fits that specific size or edit one to that size, once you have that there’s a screen on the Accessport that you can drop it into (like a tune or data log). I’ll make a video when I update mine soon :) thanks for watching and please sub!

    So why did you drain all the coolant out to change the turbo? I'm only asking because I installed my S280 without draining the coolant. I took the coolant reservoir off the fender and tilted it so that coolant wouldn't run out and when I disconnected the 2 small coolant lines I only lost a few ounces of coolant

    So the WGA preload is 2mm??? I keep reading 3mm, then 4mm then 5mm. now you say 2mm. lol. its so confusing.

    • @gapperformance
      @gapperformance  2 года назад +1

      It is confusing! Following turbo technics and the guidelines I could find I came up with 2mm, or 2 full turns. I also found 3 full turns from tuned by Nissan, but I haven’t read anywhere that it’s 4 or 5 so not sure where that is coming from. I also consulted two local S280 people and they both said 2mm. I’m the end, the directions supplied with the S280 from turbo technics said 2mm and I went with that.

    • @AzNightmare
      @AzNightmare 2 года назад

      *Adam's website says 4mm for Hybrid, 3mm for stock. It's really confusing... Some people just calculate it by # of turns. Also, it could be different between hybrids or big turbos like S280, so maybe that could add to the confusion. ALSO... Are we talking about the stock WGA or the Turbosmart one? Many people are using the Turbosmart one, so maybe that also changes the suggested preload. lol.*

    • @gapperformance
      @gapperformance  2 года назад

      @@AzNightmare yes I’m using the turbosmart wastegate. But I think it has more to do with the turbo than the wastegate but I could be wrong. The S280 is a middle ground between a hybrid and a big turbo to be honest. There is a ton of info you are correct. It’s mainly the manufacturers recommendation that comes out on top and that’s what we went with.

    • @LOLewie
      @LOLewie 2 года назад +1

      @@AzNightmare I bought the tune service off Adam. And asked him to clarify. And he ghosted me lol. So whatever. I’ll just do 3mm and send it. Ron at whoosh says he runs 3mm on the turbosmart with his s280

    • @AzNightmare
      @AzNightmare 2 года назад +1

      @@LOLewie *I confirmed with Adam and he said 4mm. But my tuner said to do 2.5 turns (which is less than 3mm), lol... I think I ended up just doing 3mm as well as a compromise. I had a caliper and was extremely careful trying to measure up 3mm.*

      Because the S280 beats them in a race I guess. Also the cost isn’t far off and I think the whole “heat” argument on the hybrids is what scares people away.
