    Ghostbusters was a massive success in 1984, but it took more than half a decade for the world to get a second one! Why? I don’t know. That information is probably available on Google. Reasons, presumably.
    Ghostbusters 2 definitely raises some questions. Like did they just redo every beat of the first movie but slightly different? Is Venkman even a Ghostbuster or are we just following his love life? And most importantly, how did everyone forget that ghosts exist?!
    To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Ghostbusters 2!

Like the whole “aren’t they famous from the first movie” when the movie totally shows they are still famous! The opening scene has them at a birthday party. Crowds cheering for them at court. Just because a few characters don’t recognize them or don’t believe in ghosts doesn’t mean EVERYONE feels that way. Think of the world we live in. We went to the moon and like 40% of people think it was faked. Shit some people believe the world is flat! Just because people see something doesn’t mean they believe it,

    I was born in the mid 90s, so I don't have a real attachment to Ghostbusters as a franchise, but I remember the visual elements of Ghostbusters 2 better than any other element of the franchise. Not any of the audio though, because it was muted by the broken MRI.

    Love your videos! Please do a pitch meeting for Southland Tales!!! It'll be super easy! Barely an inconvenience. I am going to comment this for as long as you make these, until you make it. I will never give up. This is my seventy-second attempt.

    I am glad you made this Pitch Meeting because when I was a teenager and originally saw the movie in the theater, I was so upset by that garbage. People hated the 2016 movie, but the IP had already been ruined!

      Same reason Janosz wanted to become her husband. "My lord, we can share her teats." "So be it. Left one for you, right one for me."

    I used to work at the Lucasarts building, and the painting of Vigo was up at the end of the skywalk, leading from LEC to ILM, and if you think that thing is creepy in the movie, try looking at it in real life! It's even creepier leaving from overtime after hours, when everyone has left the office!

      It may not be as quotable as the first one but I also prefer this one. I can’t help but love the Statue of Liberty section. That music is so upbeat and positive. I adore it. On a side note, I had NEVER before noticed that the ghost nanny was also Peter MacNicol! (He is also part of why I love this movie.)

    Funny, I recently got back from a vacation in which the hotel had, in all the rooms, replaced old-fashioned TVs (the kind where you push simple up or down buttons to change channels) with "smart" TVs that used some sort of forsaken mouse / remote / trackball hybrid control device. For the life of me, on the "smart" TV, I could not figure out how to change the channel to watch the NCAA baskeball tournment (aka "March Madness"). So, I was stuck watching the movies that the "smart" TV maker made easily accessible... one of which was .... Ghostbusters II

    @4:03 well they sprayed a toaster earlier with positive slime, and when they played music it began to dance, so that's how they knew it would work on the Statue of Liberty too. Now...how they knew they could CONTROL it with a damn NES Power Stick is something I can't tell you lol

    • @JuryRigged
      @JuryRigged 24 дня назад +2

      Just want to point out somewhere, it's not that they spray it, it's that they drop a dollop of slime into the toaster. And apparently the toaster *manifests* toast that it shoots out. As for the NES controller, I'm inclined to say it's about intent, and just giving the slime something to perceive from the person using the controls.

      For a very long time I didn't even realize that this ghost was Janosz. I only saw it once in the theater when I was 10, and then dozens or hundreds of times on VHS. It wasn't until DVD and HDTV as an adult that I could make out his face and make the connection.

    The first Ghostbusters is super good but also somehow underrated despite its already popular. This is a movie as well.
