Very impressive. Would be helpful for all of us owners to do a detailed teardown so we can see all the steps, screws, etc to get it apart. We may need to be doing repairs ourselves in the future so this type of content is extremely helpful. THANK YOU!
This video was the reason why I bought a luba 2 5000. Because they have a good service and they do not participate in the serialization like Apple or Tesla, I decided to go for the Luba instad of the other brands. Thanks for your video!
GREAT video and a HUGE vote of confidence to Mammotion Customer Support for being exceptionally responsive and coroptivie. I just purchased a Luba2 / 5000 and your video helps to confirm that Mammotion is a GREAT company!!! All the best!
I had an issue with mine as well (different part) and Mammotion sent the part within minutes for free and was here in a few days all the way from China
You are very impressive! I doubt many would have the skill and nerve to tackle a job like this. I'm glad you got your Luba mowing again and your experience is a warning to others not to drop it. I was thinking about the rubber boots on the front. Perhaps owners might be treating them with rubber conditioner to help extend their life since it looks like a major job to change out if they become prematurely dried out.
Actually anyone can willingly drop something and it not be an accident. But, I understand what point you are making. Logically, owner is making the point to be careful with the mower and do your best to not drop it if one is holding it at an elevated position as the front axel could break. Be WARNED!!! @@mr.c6674
That is very impressive. I want to thank you for this video because it answered the one question I had, which had to do with the customer service for these things. I noticed that they were located outside of the US and with a foreign phone number and this kept me from going ahead with the purchase. Performance and customer service are equally important to me so the information you gave was exactly what I needed. I am an avid DIY'er and repair guy, but not sure I would have been as bold as you to go through the repair you had. Great video! Probably the best I've seen on RUclips, as the camera caught everything you did pretty clearly and at a perfect pace. Big thumbs up!
Nice to see it done fully, and see inside better. Thanks for the detailed video. They could use quick disconnects though. Not a fan of soldering boards.
I agree completely! Quick disconnects would be ideal. Hopefully, those changes are made in future models. If this could become a customizable item, it would unquestionably become the dominant robot mower. Anything people can customize becomes a hit with consumers. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
That's awesome you got it repaired. I still think though from your original video... that the cable that runs to the axials should have connectors, so you don't have to go through all those steps including de-soldiering and then re-soldiering. Maybe in future versions of the Luba they'll take that into account. Since you had your Luba open though, I was wondering if you looked at the battery and how difficult it would be to swap that out? Any thoughts about that? Thanks for these videos, very educational.
I agree. A connector for the motors on the wheels would be great. I think changing out the battery would be cake work compared to this repair. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Nice Vid and information. I do wonder whether Mammotion would do the same for someone who has not put out a RUclips vid showing the issues though, especially so quickly.
It's great you got Mammotion to reach out to you to fix your luba, even sending you the part. Very good video of exactly what's involved in fixing the front axle. Now maybe you could use your influence to get them to actually deliver my Luba 5000 that I ordered and paid for in May... It's certainly not a supply issue as I've seen plenty of FB posts from people in UK (where I am) that ordered well after me and got theirs already.
well done , ordered my Luba (2) AWD 5000 this morning , wanted to see the internals just to see how repairable it is ( compared to my 10Y old RoboMow RS630 ) seems a bit more complex , when i did see a luba inside ( in the store ) i was surprised that the electronics PCB are not better protected , like the stuff you put on the connectors and wires , when i see my robo internals (example head of the docking station ) its all over the PCB board ( and still gives " problems " after many years of service )
I look forward to the Luba 2 also. I think Mammotion has made some solid improvements, and I can't wait to test it out. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Luba is a really good thing. Servicing looks like in case of Mavic 2 pro. When I crashed my Mavic against a tree, I ordered parts, had to solder a bit too, but it still flies while on the ground Luba mows.
I was considering a purchase. Your initial video, and others negative comments on delivery etc, had me somewhat concerned so I did not purchase. I may now reconsider 😊 Thank you
I think I would have taken them up on their offer to fix the mower - but I can also appreciate your perspective and we all can learn from this for our future repairs (just seems that the wires for the front wheel motors should have been put "out front" so you wouldn't have to undo those boards and connectors - then again a broken axle is likely not a frequent occurrence). THANKS
Good on ya mate. Job well done. I'm of the same mind. I'm sure I can do as good a job as any. I service my JD 4wd and I'm in the process of building RC mower using brushless motors.

Great job sir. No way to install lever connector nuts instead of unwelding those wires? It seems there is space and it would make the next service easier. Thanks again for your work.
I have made that suggestion but who knows if that will happen. From a service perspective, they definitely need to add easy connects. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Thank you mamotion support for sending this part! I feel so much better about owning my luba 3000 now knowing that support has reasonable human beings who won't just tell you to go pound sound when something breaks. They've earned my respect.
If they had just put quick disconnects on the motors half of this tear down wouldn't even be necessary. Hopefully this won't be too common of a repair. I'm really wanting one of these for my front yard. I suggest taking pictures of everything as you disconnect them so you have references when you forget lol
It seems you're one of the few lucky ones with good customer service response! Mammotion has a pretty bad reputation here in UK and France for not responding to emails and not honouring their guarantee promise. Not being particularly cheap, the lax customer service is putting people off from buying their mowers.
I hope it will be possible to swap the front wheels for omni wheels. The original wheels do tear up the ground quite a bit where the grass is not strong and dense.
my concern after owning 2 Husqvarna Automowers is the wheel motors. I have had to replace multiple wheel motors, and it is pretty straight forward on the Hasqvarna. Just open the case and remove a couple screws then unplug the motor. This seems like a much more involved process. Anyone having failure on your Luba? Interested in a Luba 2, but with difficult self-repair is a deal killer
Would it had been possible to have just cut the motor wires and added male/female pin connectors or some other kind of splice technique? Is there room to do something like that instead.. ?
I had thought about that but figured I would try this method first. If I ever have to service the front wheels again, I think I will just cut it. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
I love my Lubas and I think they are the best on the market. With that said, they are poorly designed for serviceability. It would be very easy to redesign them to have plug and play part replacement, including the circuit boards.
Hey bud, any chance you can show us a tutorial on how to change out the battery? I have a Luba 1000 AWD and I'd love to upgrade my battery to the same battery as the 5000

Thank You! I have a snapped rear axle and your video helped me a lot (except the 3 screws, lol). I just need the rear axle and sealant, and for support to respond to my requests. Everything else works. Rear axles just plug into the board, wonder why they did the front so we have to solder? Also what the heck is with that wire seal and all the sealant goop? Lastly, what is all the blue stuff in the axle screw holes? Probably lock tight but looks like corrosion.

Agreed! I am not sure how often new models will be produced with Mammotion, but I am sure they will improve it often during the first year or two. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing this content. I was looking for a way to hide the AirTag inside Luba to track Luba in case it gets stolen and no longer connected to the internet.
I'm glad to see your video after the last one. I'm on the fence about buying one. I admire the engineers who designed it and from all reviews that I see, it functions admirably. I am concerned about negative reports about response to customers who are not social media influencers. That mower has how many motors? Four for the wheels. Two for the blades and probably another one for the height adjustment? I've read of someone who had one wheel stop working. Motor or board? Unfortunately it was a commenter and I'll never know how it was resolved. Sudden success brings about growing pains and I wish Mammotion well. I'm unsure if I want to risk buying version 1.1 though. Nice about the omni wheels. I'm surprised they didn't send those along to you just for the advertising.
Wow! Thanks for this video! How long did it take for Mammotion to return your first support email request? I sent them a request last week and haven't received a reply. I need to make the same repair as yours on my Luba AWD!
Thanks for sharing, my beta unit tore itself apart, they wont supply me with spares understandable as it was a free unit. but this is a great resource! when I get it fixed my self!
I think what happened was on the beta software they forgot to check the limit of the blade lift system. It kept going until it broke the underside and the braket with the gears. The beta unit has plugs for the wheels, so nothing to desolder for my tear down.
@@JustinsProject Thanks for your reply! I've received my 5000 by now and have a problem with the tilt switch triggering on my admittedly slightly steeper slope - at random points in time. The traction can clearly handle the slope, so I'd like to somehow disable that switch. Someone said it's in the front axle; did you notice anything? I don't want to take it completely apart if not necessary. Thanks!
What an achievement kudos for that. It is too bad that did you not take the opportunity to show us where the batteries are and how they could be serviced by user, if doable. Have you an opinion on that?
I had to get them directly from Mammotion. Contact their customer service and let them know your problem. Hopefully, they get you squared away. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Because of you being a RUclipsr Mammotion reached out and helped you out. They are afraid of more bad press regarding bad service and communication. I have not got a single response over two weeks now regarding my issues and possibilites for spare parts. I am glad they helped you out but people watching this please be aware Mammotion WILL NOT give this kind of service to you.
I sure hope they take care of all their customers. Keep us posted if you can on the progress of your repair. I hope that they get you squared away. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

Help me please remove the top! Begging
Ok sold cabels out is not so service like. But nice Video to see all parts inside and how to remove. And ofc droping the mover is not good, but it should not break. The suspension is to weak.
It's incredible the amount of things that need to be removed including pc boards just to replace an axle. Definitely not a do it yourself project for most. Couldn't the axle be made more user friendly to replace? Makes you think. Great job though..
I agree. A connection point somewhere in there that would eliminate the soldering and removing of the two boards should be something the manufacturer should look into. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
You’re right! Justin cursed them and the Luba so badly over his channel that Mammotion went all out to make him happy. I only wish they would send my L extension pole that I paid for about six weeks ago. It just a simple request but they keep sending a canned reply saying they are too busy to send my order. I guess I need to resort to cursing over You Tube like Justin!
How are they to deal with if you don't have a youtube channel though? (You said they reached out to you) They're not a cheap unit and it's not something you'd want to throw away if you can't get say a replacement wheel.
@@JustinsProject 'from the people at mammotion'. do you really think they know what their doing. they're just copying from everybody else. and, they're certainly not any good at programming.
I had that axle broken when I recieved my first Luba. It was probably damaged in delivery... They have picked it up and sent me a new one. Than my lift motor broke because there was a lot of grass and no space for lifting blades.. I had to replace lift motor and motherboard. They have sent me parts for free. (they also offered me that they will pick up luba and service it for me... I tought that replacing parts by my self is faster and easier for me than packing it.. I don't have original box anymore) Than I noticed that one of the rubber seals on the motor is already broken... But the worst thing is that it has NEVER finished my garden yet without my help. It needs to rescue, it needs just to click the continue button in my app couple times a day... I am very dissapointed with this product. The previous robot had much better construction. It could handle small branches, moles, cut under trampoline... This thing gets stuck almost everywhere :-( I wish they made wireless Robomow RS 630 with RTK, that would be best for my garden. I have to mention that 4200 square meters zone with really thick grass.... Yes I have prepared my garden and cut everythig with my tractor... My robomow usually worked weeks without need of any help. Only when some large branches felt or something unexpected happened I had to help the robomow. My neigbour has a husqvarna.. he turns it on on spring, turns it of on the end of season and does not have to do anything...
Thank you for that feedback. After a couple of months of having Luba and mowing the max 1.25 acres with it, twice a week, I definitely have to go out and click buttons and assist Luba, very frequently. I have found it stuck in the middle of my backyard more than once. I have no idea why it got stuck or stopped mowing in those areas. When it works, it does a great job at helping with lawn care. But I agree, there are some adjustments needed to improve the overall user experience. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
@@JustinsProject exactly... I really hate it when it stops for "no reason" and it is waiting only to click continue button. Than it continues with no need to rescue, clean blades or anything... I hope that they will solve it with some software updates. It is only time to time when it really needs some real assistance.
I can't believe Mammotion did not provide carrying handles on the unit. Duh. Also they didn't shape the Luba so it can be laid on its back with stability to service the blades. It has a rounded top! Duh again!
When someone or a business proves me wrong - I can admit it. Do I think the bracket should have broke from a small drop? NO. However, my main concern was being able to service the Luba. Now I know that is possible.
I must say ..... very impressive. However, it does appear that you are proceding in a manner of someone who has no intention of ever putting it back together. I am a bit skeptical of the full project.
I am not sure I follow the skepticism. I had every intention of repairing it but honestly thought I was not going to get the parts. Once I did, I wanted to share my experience on how I fixed mine. Hopefully, it helps someone out there. I build and repair just about anything. I am not trying to be despective in any way. Thanks for the feedback.
Can't believe how awkward it is to do simple things in it. I have a husqvarna 430x for about 5 years and doing anything on it is so easy and simple. Swedish ergonomics definitely better than the chinese
Their customer service went above and beyond!?! Their customer service is non-existent! I purchased many extra sets of blades and a housing roof with my original purchase. They never sent to these extra parts. 2 months later I got an email saying my parts are on the way but they re used the same FedEx tracking number they use for my original Luba shipment. I let customer service know immediately... Six weeks later I got an email saying that they're busy and they'll get to me eventually. It's been another 2 months and I still haven't heard back from them! Mamotion robbed me.
Their Support is non-existent. We’ve tried for weeks to get help for a Brand new Luba 2-there has been no email ticket response, nor any call backs by phone. The in-app Support offers no help either. Early Adopters: Dont Buy a Luba now they are still full of bugs and give no help

There are some hidden ones on the underside rear wheels if I remember correctly.
Great they will send parts to service still need to make all parts modular like irobot vacuum looks like proof concept works now need to improve repairs
Putting an Airtag inside would be a great addition to the Luba. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
All valid points. I hope to get to test the omni wheels at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Wow! Thanks for this video! How long did it take for Mammotion to return your first support email request? I sent them a request last week and haven't received a reply. I need to make the same repair as yours on my Luba AWD!
They got back with me pretty quickly. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for sharing, my beta unit tore itself apart, they wont supply me with spares understandable as it was a free unit. but this is a great resource! when I get it fixed my self!
What happened? Hopefully, you can get it fixed. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I think what happened was on the beta software they forgot to check the limit of the blade lift system. It kept going until it broke the underside and the braket with the gears. The beta unit has plugs for the wheels, so nothing to desolder for my tear down.
Nice job👍 do you have any idea what that sealer is called,i looks like something nice to have in the toolbox...😁
I can't read the writing on the tube 😂 It's some awesome stuff though
@@JustinsProject then you winter project is to learn Chinese...🤣
Thanks for the answer😁
@@Tonnihmadsen 😂
@@JustinsProject Great video! I can translate the Chinese for you if you need help. Would be interesting to know what that stuff was :)
Very cool!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Is that broken piece metal or plastic? If plastic, we could just 3d print it
It was die-cast aluminum. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Thanks!
Nice job
Thanks!
What an achievement kudos for that. It is too bad that did you not take the opportunity to show us where the batteries are and how they could be serviced by user, if doable. Have you an opinion on that?
Yeah at the time I was only focused on fixing the problem I had. I missed a good opportunity. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm not trying to be snarky, but why not cut the wires and solder them back together to the drive assembly vs tearing down to the bottom board?
Because that was from the instruction from Mammotion tech support team. I just went with what they recommended. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Impressive, thanks
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I'm a luba dealer and certified servicer. Did they give you the confidential service manuals or tell you you voided the warranty by opening the bot?
Yes and yes. Thanks for watching and commenting
Hi, great video. Could you please tell us where we can buy spare parts for this mower?
You have a great talent😉
I had to get them directly from Mammotion. Contact their customer service and let them know your problem. Hopefully, they get you squared away. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Thanks great video !!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Fairly simple, like working on my 1/8 scale rc monster trucks
True. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Good man
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Because of you being a RUclipsr Mammotion reached out and helped you out. They are afraid of more bad press regarding bad service and communication. I have not got a single response over two weeks now regarding my issues and possibilites for spare parts.
I am glad they helped you out but people watching this please be aware Mammotion WILL NOT give this kind of service to you.
I sure hope they take care of all their customers. Keep us posted if you can on the progress of your repair. I hope that they get you squared away. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
They are getting a dealer and service network through Autmow.
I can get parts if anyone needs them
@@myronrhodes-o5eI need to get a stuck SIM card out it fell off the carrier because it cracked if I pull the top and the sim reader off I think it will just fall out but can’t get the top off they want me to send it in but won’t get it back for 2 weeks and I have been mowing already for a month. Help me please remove the top! Begging
Ok sold cabels out is not so service like. But nice Video to see all parts inside and how to remove. And ofc droping the mover is not good, but it should not break. The suspension is to weak.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
You are amazing crazy 🤪💪👍😁
Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Did your warranty expire when you broke the part? They wouldn't let a regular Joe shmo take apart Luba and service it under warranty, would they?
Not that you're a shmo, clearly you know how to take things apart, but would they let anybody do that?
I probably did void my warranty. And this video will be more useful in a couple years when the manufactures warranty is expired.
If someone still has a warranty on the machine then I would recommend sending it in for repair and not doing it their self.
@@JustinsProject it's definitely neat to see it inside. When my warranty is up I'm taking the body work off and painting it.
@steffen707- Yeah, that white is terrible after a couples months of not getting washed, lol
@@JustinsProject removing pc boards could create other problems...
Is it possible they were super friendly knowing you had a RUclips channel?
Anything is possible. I can't speculate that, though. I am glad to have gotten the part so I could get it repaired.
@@mosesw1 You can get those L poles from just about anywhere. They still haven't sent the Luba I ordered and paid for back in MAY.
Nice but I wonder if non-youtubers will get the same treatment.
I have no idea, but I would hope so. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
Hello. I've snapped the rear axle on my luba how did you manage to get replacement parts?
How are they to deal with if you don't have a youtube channel though? (You said they reached out to you) They're not a cheap unit and it's not something you'd want to throw away if you can't get say a replacement wheel.
They have a new Luba 2 coming out soon. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
BTW. New lubas have the disconnects
Awesome. Thanks for the tip.
there was no need to disconnect the boards. all you had to do was cut the wire between the bracket and the boards. then seize the wires back together.
I'm was just following the instructions of the guys from Mammotion who built it. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@JustinsProject 'from the people at mammotion'. do you really think they know what their doing. they're just copying from everybody else. and, they're certainly not any good at programming.
From the video that wasn’t much of a drop. Secondly it might be a thought for someone at Luba to talk to someone at Tesla about simplifying things
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I had that axle broken when I recieved my first Luba. It was probably damaged in delivery...
They have picked it up and sent me a new one.
Than my lift motor broke because there was a lot of grass and no space for lifting blades.. I had to replace lift motor and motherboard. They have sent me parts for free. (they also offered me that they will pick up luba and service it for me... I tought that replacing parts by my self is faster and easier for me than packing it.. I don't have original box anymore)
Than I noticed that one of the rubber seals on the motor is already broken...
But the worst thing is that it has NEVER finished my garden yet without my help. It needs to rescue, it needs just to click the continue button in my app couple times a day... I am very dissapointed with this product. The previous robot had much better construction. It could handle small branches, moles, cut under trampoline... This thing gets stuck almost everywhere :-(
I wish they made wireless Robomow RS 630 with RTK, that would be best for my garden.
Duh again!
One thing I have learned about Mammotion is that they listen to the feedback. I appreciate that about them. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
My favorite thing from the 2 videos is the first video of blaming them for absolutely everything and the next video Back tracking on everything 😅😅
When someone or a business proves me wrong - I can admit it. Do I think the bracket should have broke from a small drop? NO. However, my main concern was being able to service the Luba. Now I know that is possible.
that axel is made of cheap 3d printed plastic?!
It is cast aluminum.

That is unacceptable. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Their Support is non-existent. We’ve tried for weeks to get help for a Brand new Luba 2-there has been no email ticket response, nor any call backs by phone. The in-app Support offers no help either. Early Adopters: Dont Buy a Luba now they are still full of bugs and give no help
Did you ever get support from them?
