at that time I was a french student in scotland. On a saturday went to a record shop in edinburgh. i wasn't familiar with rock bands in the UK so I asked the shopkeeper for advice...she handed me this Deacon Blue album. I still cherish it
So pure, so brit, so wave and young and free and single, wow! No money, no problem, just pure feelings a nd pure music. God blessed them, others like them, we, and that pure times!❤

Sadly, yes he did. Original guitarist Graeme Kelling (seen here in this clip) tragically died of pancreatic cancer on 10/6/04 at just 47 years old. The last Deacon Blue album he managed to play on was 'Homesick' (2001), but (due to his illness) fellow Scottish musician Mick Slaven actually did most of the guitar work on it and took his place in the band shortly thereafter. However, Mick left them several years ago to concentrate on other projects and Gregor Philp replaced him. R.I.P Graeme Hunter Kelling (4/4/57-10/6/04).
@@stephenalanmoore7278 Thank you for the info. Yes very sad, pancreatic cancer is one of the worst to get but 47 was no age. They are such a great band, glad they are still going.
@@nonnayoubuzinnes1669 That's right. Forty seven is a ridiculously young age for anyone to die. He was such a talented musician, too. No doubt if Graeme was still alive and well, he'd be still be recording and touring with the band to this day. His premature death was such a terrible loss to everyone.

Didn't the guitar player die of cancer not long afterwards? Very sad. Great band.
