What a man. He and his brother albeit polar opposites in many ways have both interestingly shaped my views in their own ways. Both were fantastic critics of dishonest, and misleading individuals - something that bonds them like the blood they shared. Peter is picketted as a plum in his mouth snob, but in reality is actually a very much open person who i feel is more interested in working out whats really happening. Alot of his critics are students of the groups he was interested in in his formative years of political immersion - yet they dont analyse whats actually in front of them and draw more conclusive decisions about what they are for or against. Just my two cents, and I love seeing him break confusing and muddied topics down - properly.

Why on earth did Channel 4 give Peter Hitchens an episode of Dispatches? First few seconds, already moaning about "liberals", which means people he doesn't like. Not in the least a fan of Cameron, but I don't think it was surprising he sought to sound more positive and accepting than Peter Hitchens "why oh why" nonsense. If one thing's aged worse than Cameron, it's the opening to this show. Cameron wasn't all that much of a "liberal", was he? Massive fiscal consolidation that no economist defends now. Blaming the EU for problems, and then calling a referendum on it- not surprising it turned out as it did, really.
Peter seems to misunderstand the attraction of Maggie (“mother” to “Cameronians” discussed here) to ordinary people (far greater in number than these entitled inheritors, therefore the reason she had been removed, unbeaten by the establishment, who obviously have NO idea that politics is about MASS appeal, and was the reason Bliar won in 97. The Conservative establishment seem to believe that identikit leaders will be successful, as long as they are compliant and merely interested in their career, not necessarily in politics, statesmanlike) Major was chosen after the utter betrayal of the most electorally successful leader the conservatives EVER had. Her last general election was her second landslide victory in 1987. I didn’t vote again for twenty three years. No one would but for the disgust at Bliar, Brown, and “Mandy” made it impossible to stay at home. We had to vote to remove those contemptuous parasites. (Commenting in patrician, conservative narcissism about “bigoted women”.) Hitchens (here) and Bliar, Cameron and Johnson discount the fact that Maggie was a CONVICTION politician. Her removal was the reason for the conservatives failure for thirteen years, by people who obviously have NO idea why ordinary people vote. And they’re still in charge when you observe Braverman’s scandalous removal. She seems to understand the need for conviction politicians. The people who first imposed Sunak on the country after a suspiciously engineered “sterling crisis” removed Liz Truss, are now used to imposing not only party leaders but also obviously unpopular policies like open borders and “green” poverty for the masses. Obviously non of them (as Cameron) believe in anything. Nobody could accuse Corbin of not being a conviction politician, and he was beaten by Johnson who at least understood that he should display political belief. Unfortunately for him, it became rapidly evident that he had none.
